Monfils 347 days since his last victory
Mental breakdown :

Paire with his stupid excuses "i missed my flight" "i was injured" "sunstroke because I was confined 14 days" "****ty tournament".

Gasquet injured and withdrew.

Lucas Pouille a victory at the Quimper's challenger.

-Tsonga still recovering.

Beautiful performance of Nicolas mahut at the atp cup : two victories (simple and double) and Humbert won his first match.

Moutet and Mannarino also won their matches.

The women did much better with Cornet, Garcia and Fiona Ferro, all winning theirs as well.

It's a bit strange that he was in such good form before the pandemic and then can't win a match since.

Think this is the first time I have ever seen him get upset over losing a match. Is he finally starting to care just as his career is winding down?
That’s honestly what it seems like to me. I’ve never cared for Monfils because he played the clown too much for me. He’s bound to have some regrets. He’s had a nice solid career but he could have done more. I don’t think someone like Simon will have any regrets because he maximized his potential but you can’t ever say Monfils did the same.

This is just it, maybe that sad reality is finally setting in for him. So many experts and legends in the sport like McEnroe publicly called him out over the years on his perceived lack of committment but he never got serious. Too late now.

Love the guy, hard to see somebody struggle like that. I think he knows he wasn't ready for the AO. The plague is **** by the way and hits people differently

The French players of the last decade and a half have been good friends, and have always played team tennis, like the Davis Cup, and now the ATP Cup, passionately for La Belle France.
They usually take a defeat hard.
Now they've hardly had a chance to rest/prepare for the AO, on the heels of the ATP Cup disappointment, and they're exhausted.
No wonder.
