Gamma Progression ST II vs Pro's Pro Pioneer 1

I currently have a Gamma Progression II 200 stringing machine (dropweight with 2 point mount) and I am looking to upgrade to a 6 point crank machine to increase accuracy and speed of the string job. I'd really like a an electric tension head like the Wise2086 or something similar that Pro's Pro produce, however the cost is prohibitive. I am thinking if I upgrade to a good crank machine I can upgrade the tension head later.

I am based in the UK and after Brexit it seems my options for a stringing machine are limited compared to what I have seen across the pond in the USA and across the channel in the EU.

I am currently looking at the Pro's Pro Pioneer 1, it is sold by a UK retailer and can be bought for £750, it is probably more than I'd like to spend but if this is a good machine that will last then it is worth investing in. I understand that there have been worries in the past about the clamps but this seems to have been fixed as diamond dusted 5 tooth clamps are included. I also like that the base clamps have a quick release which should decrease stringing time. My worry with this machine is that it is a Pro's Pro, it seems to be a generic stringing machine (i have basically seen the same one with different brand names all over the internet) and Pro's Pro do not have the best reputation for quality.

The other option is the Gamma Progression ST II, this is availab for £950 which is quite a bit more than the Pro's Pro. The base clams are not quick release so I'd be paying more for fewer features. I do understand that Gamma hae a good reputation but is it really worth the extra £200?

The third option is to get the Gamma Progression ST II second hand, I have found this available for roughly £500. It is a bit worn out but is apparently in working condition.

Any advice on the above? Are there any other machines I should consider at this price point?

You could upgrade the DW to Wise without buying a crank machine. But you won’t have fixed clamps.

Could also buy an $8000 machine. But based on the OP, i don't think that's what is being sought (EITHER).

You're on the right track, generally. Lockout is a nice platform for a Wise.

Wow. Your prices in the UK have rocketed. I used to be able to buy the occasional item from the UK, but it is more affordable to get it from the mainland now.
Also, occasionally when I find something I DO need in the UK and want it fast since it's just, like, right there - they will tell me they do not deal with EU countries.
Like, what? I'm 25 miles away. How are you going to survive Brexit with that attitude?

OK, rant aside. It looks like the Pioneer 1 and 2 are not much different in pricing for you nowadays. The bases on the Pioneer 2 are actually rather nice. If you can get the standing one, I would.
Now, I am gonna try and pull an Irvin here and say, if you can save up another 300-400 pounds, you are into a NEOS when they come back in stock. That is an excellent machine.
And it will have great resale if you are so inclined.

Providing the used Gamma STii is in good working order (if you're local then best bet would be to check it out) that would be what I would go for, well reviewed and higher resale value.

My experience; started off on a 6pt drop weight Pro's Pro, wasn't the best quality and didn't like the dropweight. Upgraded to a heavily used but looked after 2pt Eketelon model H (basically a Neos 1000) and I love it. Don't feel the need for a Wise, it's all I need and built like a tank. I string only for myself so don't feel the need to upgrade, though if I were to and space/money allowed I'd go for a high-end ECP or look at the Stringway machines.

Have you looked at pre-owned? I bought a Gamma Progression STII with Wise 2086 tensionhead for £630 a couple of months ago on e bay.
