Gamma TNT2 React Pro - Anyone tried?

Hi All

TENNIS SPIN recently said this is the best MF string out there... has special coating that makes it snap back.

Found no info anywhere. Anyone here have any thoughts?

Yes I have it in hybrid with Hyper G soft on my new Radical MP. Played 6h with it so far and it hasn't moved. I never played with the regular Tnt so I can't compare to it but it does slide pretty well for a nylon string (but not as well as Ghostwire) and there's no notching or fraying so far. I'd compare it to Gosen Micro sheep with probably better durability, a little stiffer and a little less friction. Is it considered a multifilament? I think it's just a synthetic gut with some special coating. I find it pricey compared to other synthetic gut and I don't see Gamma selling reels of it. Might be a deal breaker for me if there's no reels when Gosen sell their reel at just $40.

I play with the regular TNT quite a bit and it slides just as good or better than most multifilament strings I've tried. It doesn't fray, but will eventually notch and snap. Definitely interested in trying this as the price isn't much higher

I don't see it for sale on here but another place has it.. why is that?

Just ordered a set from Gamma Europe with a 20% discount - hoping this might be a good replacement for Origin.

I just bought 2 sets. I am hoping to replace Triax. Hoping it has the firm feel of Triax and slide/snaps back well.

Tried Triax 16 vs React Pro 16 on identical Phantom 100 frame both at 55 lbs tension

React Pro had the Muted Velocity MLT feel and sound with Triax Spin. Feel was soft. String didn't move during the short time I was able to try.

Rain interrupted the head to head test but I am very happy with what I saw today. Well worth a try.

I'm in about 10h with as a cross hybrid with Hyper G Soft. It hasn't moved. It's starting to change to darker color so it might be a signal. What I like about it is playability didn't change one bit during the whole time. With Gosen, I could tell that tension was dropping slowly and it would lose its crispness but with TNT, I'm still having good control and spin 10h in.

Had a few hours of this in a cross with V-Square - finding it very soft compared to Origin and Diadem Evolution even at 2lbs tighter. Not as much spin either and a slight loss of control. Very comfy though. Would go titghter next time go get some of the control back.

After about 3 hours the string has started moving a lot and is now very mushy feeling. Will cut it out and stick with Triax/RPX till I can find a Multi-Main/Poly-Cross hybrid that can work better.

Strung up a second racquet with Cyclone in the mains - this time I tried to start the TNT cross with a starting clamp but it kept slipping through when I pulled tension. Had to use a starting knot instead - it's a very slippery string!

Same for me - too soft for my liking. Cut it out after 4 hours of fairly gentle hitting and replaced it with Gamma Glide (kept the mains in).

I find that very difficult to believe.
Tennis spin is a nice (charmy, plain talk) channel, but it is an influence focused.
He (Harry) even said in of his QAs that he started the channel to show his daughter how to review products and get views.

I would not be surprised if he had a deal with Gamma.

It would be nice if he is to disclose endorsements

I still really like this string. I dunno what others are saying about the string moving. If you put a multi as a main, it will definitely move because multis don't have much recoil and if it slides, sometimes don't come back. Multis tend to be better at being locked in. I noticed that when I put Velocity as main with Ghostwire in the cross. The whole bed was all over the place. But if you put a decent poly with good snapback in the main, it works very well I find.

Maybe I was just spoiled by TRIAX & RPX. Really soft and powerful though. Similar to Velocity... maybe a little more powerful. Better than NXT & PSGD for sure!

Should this string be viewed only as a cross or does it have good potential for a whole bed? Always liked tnt2 other than strings getting out of place so easily. The regular tnt2 coating decently grips the ball but also grips out of place needing lots of e-adjustment

I don’t think he is sponsored by gamma, he probably just likes their strings.

Since I have another pack left - I will try it with TIER ONE Ghost Wire 17g as a cross string. Full bed TNT2 React Pro doesn't work for me as after about 2 hours it became very mushy and got stuck out of place easily (like a regular synthetic gut).. Maybe the poly cross will keep it moving and not getting stuck?

I recently had my Speed Pro strung up with 17ga Dunlop Explosive Bite mains and 17ga React Pro crosses @ 53lbs. Haven’t tried it yet but will do so tomorrow. Pretty excited. 8-B

Your early review was for a full bed of tnt react pro? I think this string should really only be seen as a cross string like Ghostwire as it's very slippery and it's intended to be hybrided with a poly that has good snapback. Benefit is maybe added spin as the poly can move more freely. I do wonder if because the poly moves and snaps back more freely (probably more than with Ghostwire as it's much softer), the main will wear out and lose its coil more quickly also. It's at least what I feel.

Hit with my Speed Pro with Dunlop Expl. Bite mains and React Pro crosses, both 17ga at 53lbs. I must’ve enjoyed it enough because hitting with it made me smile reminiscing over having chosen my Speed Pro last year even if I’ve moved on. But admittedly I didn’t give it more than 15-20 minutes before going to my current racquet; I’ll try it again this weekend.

Though my only comparative reference points are having hit with a full bed of Expl. Bite on a Yonex VCP 97HD, and hitting with my old old Babolat Pure Control I got strung up with the TNT2 some number of months ago, since it’d been years since its previous stringjob. Too many confounding variables at play here, methinks. But I’ve got no complaints over how my chosen pairing played today.

@str33tspirit I was thinking of same or similar hybrid as you HG soft on main, Tn2 react pro on cross (as option instead of OG Sheep Micro). Has the TN2 react held up so far or has broken already. How did hybrid work over time ? Are you finding the string bed better with the TN2 react vs. OGS ? OGS friction is ok but certainly not great when compared to a poly. I wondering if the HG slides or locks into the coating as it would on a multi. Did TNT2 React reasonable hold tension and its low friction ? Thanks.

I actually went back to my hyper soft/Gosen hybrid setup. I'd say the tnt does make the main slide better and you can tell when you string it. But it seems to me that around the 12 hours mark, both setups will still start moving. And seeing that Gosen is only $45 for a reel and react pro has no reels as of yet, it was a no brainer because the difference between the 2 is not that big. I don't know if the main moves because of the coating wearing off or it's just hyper soft that just loses its coil and tension quicker. I tend to believe it's the latter. I tried once with regular Hyper G and it looked like it held better but I decided to cut it before my league match. Hyper G Soft just feels better for me on my particular racket and since I string myself, it's cheap for me to restring regularly. If you don't string yourself, look maybe at the regular Hyper G for longer lasting tension holding. Hyper G soft will lose tension before your cross and I haven't broken either synthetic but note that I'm using 16 gauge. I wasn't as lucky with multis as I would break them everytime around 6h.

I think Hyper G Soft doesn't move much when new because it's very rigid with that square shape. I'm not sure when new we are seeing snap back as much as minimal movement at all. When it starts to stretch, it becomes less rigid and starts moving. I actually feel the lifespan is quite long for a poly. I'm ok with way it plays as it becomes less rigid. I was kind of hoping with TNT2 React there would be more movement and actual snapback when fresh. I think it really comes down to the coating and whether the poly cuts into and lodges into the slick coating or slides along it like it might with a poly cross. Anyhow, seems like it won't be a big difference as compared to the Gosen syn gut but maybe worth a try. Thanks for the guidance.

I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I like my chosen duo, Dunlop Explosive Bite 17ga mains with React Pro 17ga crosses at 53lbs. on my G360+ Speed Pro.

I’m surprised because previously it was strung up with VS Gut 16ga mains and Solinco Conf. 17ga crosses. I prefer my current setup over my old one, and this has remained unchanged after hitting with it for more than just one short session.

Intuition tells me I would prefer the React Pro crosses over standard TNT2 paired with poly mains that are shaped, like Explosive Bite.

I'm using TNT2 React as cross in a hybrid with Cyclone Tour. It's pretty good. Probably better than regular TN2 for this purpose or Gosen OG Sheep Micro. It isn't as powerful and is firmer (but not stiff) than TNT2 or OGSSM. Still though, the Cyclone Tour doesn't really snap back in place especially now in very humid weather. I found all the coatings I've tried on nylon strings I've tried get quite a bit more sticky with high humidity and the snap back breaks down. Will be interested to see how it does in the fall and indoor season. I'm really surprised what humidity does to these coatings.

I have tried TNT2 React both with Cyclone Tour and Hyper G soft mains. Pretty nice initial performance but the TNT2 React surface quick notches both Cyclone Tour and HGS. I certainly didn't see this with multis as the cross string since the surface on those strings tends to be so soft, it wears away vs. cutting into the poly main. Would one typically expect rapid notching from other syn guts like Gosen OSG or others ? The notching really impacts the performance of the bed specially on the serve where you'd like to see the cross move and snap back along the main. The notch prevents that movement, hurts power and spin.

I tried 2 sets and then gave up on it.

I gave up due to following - After about 1 hour full bed it became mushy and provided too much power. It also stopped snapping back.

OGSM Natural is the best cross for a synthetic gut.... So many people use it so there must be a reason.

OGSM White is the best syngut for full bed. (Crisper)

Best string to use instead of TNT2 React Pro but without the sudden mushiness and sudden increase in power??? Velocity MLT. My wife and son both use it now. I use it in stiffer racquets full bed. It's makes a good cross string as well from all the demos of Head racquets I tried which had MLT in the crosses...

Best cross strings in my limited experience in no particular order... Different feels

OGSM Natural 16G (Syngut)
Velocity MLT 16G (Multi)
Tier Ghostwire 17G (Poly)

Thanks for comments. I personally did not find Ghostwire to be comfortable cross. I view my choices of main to be more comfortable.

Did you find the OGSM notches the poly main much (very dependent I'm sure on the main). My biggest issue with the TNT2 react was the notching but yah snapback nothing to write home about.

OGSM does not notch easily like multis.... Eventually snapback will reduce but racquet will still play great.

For what it's worth, have tried both TNT2 React and OSG as cross in hybrid with Hyper-G. There is no useful difference in the coating making TNT2 React better for snapback, however TNT2 React is noticeably softer and better in absorbing shock from the poly than OSG. This makes sense if indeed TNT2 is inside that string. For same level of softness, OSG would need to be strung at lower tension than TNT2. I used 52 pounds. Needs to go down several pounds.

Is react pro a very transparent/clear string where you only see black inside of it if you look very up close? Does that sound right?

It's clear with black only visible with occasional, nearly unreadable lettering. There is a faint single spiral wrap that is visible. I'm kind of down on both this string and OGSM as a cross due to notching into a poly main (both Cyclone Tour and Hyper-G soft). I actually think TNT React would work better as the main and poly as the cross or perhaps as full bed.

I’ve used this as a cross for a client with kirschbaum max power mains. It’s quite slippery. It’s a solid core synthetic with a wrap and a slippery coating. Tension maintenance is quite good, better than almost any multi. I will be trying myself with various poly mains and report back. Using as a cross with a poly main seems to be the best application.

Well did it give a lot of spin or what benefit?

@jdub486 Will be interested to hear what you think after you try it. I think as a cross, it's a decent alternative to a slick round poly but it doesn't do much to soften the bed, take out shock like a multi or even some other syn gutts even like TNT2.

Had a two hour hit with it yesterday. RF97 with technifiber 4s mains 17g and crosses gamma tnt pro react 16g. Played excellent. 46lbs on the mains and 43 lbs on the crosses. Did not get stuck out of place at all. Spin was vicious and I felt the snap back was excellent so far. Feel was better than full poly, comfort was good but perhaps not as good as I thought it may be. The crosses pick up a lot of ball fuzz and showed slight fraying of the outer wrap. I’ll report back after another hit. Played on indoor har tru.

My stringing client who is a 4.5 with moderate spin is getting great durability out of this paired with kirschbaum max power mains. I imagine it will break faster with the shaped poly 4S.

Awesome, I need to get back to using up the rest of my reactpro thanks for the reminder
