Gel Res 8 cannot replace Barricade 7.. need recommendation

My favorite shoe of all time has been the barricade 7, but since Djokovic left adidas they havent been made anymore. I tried the newer barricade boosts a few years ago (2016?) but i didnt feel as supported and I didnt like the tread pattern as much, so I went back to my stock of barricade 7s. I have been trying the gel resolution 8 since that is supposedly the shoe that remains with the durability and stability that barricades were known for, and it's been ok. However, I played a match today and had to switch back to my old trusty barricades between sets and immediately felt more at home. Unfortunately, that is my last pair which I've had for more than 5 years now.

Are there any recommendations for shoes that can get me as close to the barricade 7 as possible? It fit my foot perfectly, I love the tread pattern, great stability/durability, and good flexibility with the torsion system. I know I'm asking for the perfect shoe, but thats really what the barricade 7 felt like to me and I regret not stocking up even more.

I’m one of those who switched to GR8s after playing with Barricade 7 for many years. What don’t you like about the GR8? Some players have a heel slippage problem which you can fix by tying a runner’s knot using the last hole they have for laces. Once I do that, it plays pretty good for me for about 50 hours on hard courts after which it gets too soft - in contrast, Barricade 7s lasted 70-80 hours and I miss them only for their longevity.

It just doesnt fit my foot shape in the toe box well. The barricade toe box is a little more square rather than longer and thinner I also dont like that there is no torsional flexibility in the midfoot, since the outsole is one wide piece rather than a thinner shank area, feels a little too stiff and gives me some issues on both the inside and outside of my arch.

The WIDE GR8s are the way to go if you have issues with the toe box. I switched to these from the Sole Court boost which were super wide.

Would you say go half a size down and going wide? They feel a little long to me in the forefoot but the arch position is good.

Give the asics court ff 2 a try. Those or the newest adidas barricade.

mm i was thinking about the newer barricade, but i was a bit concerned that they dont have the outsole guarantee. I guess they want to compete with the court ff more than the gel res. I will wait for more reviews on the durablity of the new ones while i wear through the gel res.

There are a few threads here where people who switched to GR7 dropped 1/2 size down from their go to size. I was one of those and found its the same for GR8. I too really liked the B7 and feel the GRs soften up a lot as they age. Trying replacing the insoles with something more decent.
