Grand Slam Titles by Age - ATG 3

Only RG and Wimbledon, or is it possible with Wimbledon and USO?

If Djoker wins # 19 at the US Open this year he will be 33 years, 3 months and 22 days old. Rafa won 19 at The US Open last year when he was something like 33, 3 months and 5 days old. It's tight but it would make him the second youngest to do it. He'd have to win # 19 at Wimbledon to achieve this.

Slam race is definately alive and kicking.

Key stat there is aged 33. Nadal definitely in box seat for Slam lead.

Djokovic 2 behind with Roland Garros to come is still a fair way off unless he can win the FO as he is only guy realistically who has a prayer of stopping Nadal there.

The Us Open is bound to frustrate Djokovic. Injured in 2017 and 2019, he must feel he is unlucky not to be on 19 already.

Djokovic has not prayer against Nadal at RG.
It is very clear since 2017 that the game of the Serbian player on clay declined so much.

Great graph. For all the talk of Nadal catching up to Fed in slams tunes out that‘s just a reflection of Fed being older. When adjusting for age Nadal has been ahead of Fed most of the time..

on the other hand Nole has always lagged when comparing by age. At 27 he had 6 less slams than Fed at the same age. Yet he’s managed to catch up and could even be ahead of Fed this year!

Congratulations Djokovic - 8 from 8 in Australia. First Medvedev and now Thiem have been turned away in successive slams by the old guard.

Rafa is the fist man to be world number 1 in three different decades and Djokovic becomes the first man to win a slam in three different decades.

Rafa can catch Djokovic to be the man to win a slam in three different decades but Djokovic can not catch Rafa to be world number 1 in three different decades :D

Now that none of the three can win the US Open, here is the updated Grand Slam Titles by Age list....

Djoker has one more opportunity to move into outright second at age 33 at RG. Should Rafa win it he can extend his lead to 3 slams over Federer at age 34.

Age 33:
Rafa 19 (2019)
Fed 17 (2014)
Djoker 17 (2020 - 1 slam still to play)

Age 34:
Rafa 19 (2020 - 1 slam still to play)
Fed 17 (2015)
Djoker ?? (2021)

Updated: GOAT Rafa takes the throne. He is clearly ahead of his rivals at age 33 and absolutely dominating Fed at age 34 (Djoker has next year to have his say on the matter). Rafa has blown Fed's longevity out of the water, winning 6 slams in his 30's and his first in his teens.

Vamos!

Age 33:
Rafa 19 (2019)
Fed 17 (2014)
Djoker 17 (2020)

Age 34:
Rafa 20 (2020
Fed 17 (2015)
Djoker ?? (2021)

Age 35:
Rafa ?? (2021)
Fed 17 (2016)
Djoker ?? (2022)

Age 34:
Rafa 20 (2020)
Djoker 18 (2021)
Fed 17 (2015)

Djokovic has now overtaken Fed by age. Interestingly enough, many thought that Fed hitting 18 slams would never be matched. Both Nadal and now Djokovic have done it at a younger age.

Updated following RG 2022. Federer being dominated in the slams by age by both Nadal and Djokovic now.

Age 35:
Rafa 20 (2021)
Djoker 20 (2022) - two slams to go this year
Fed 17 (2016)

Age 36:
Rafa 22 (2022) - two slams to go this year
Djoker ?? (2023)
Fed 19 (2017)
