Switzerland is behind only USA/Sweden.

Common now.

Laver & Rosewall had limited results in OE in comparison to Fed/Stan.

Less Davis Cups, less GS champions. It's the same with Serbia, you can't say it's a bigger tennis nation than Czech Republic.

Given tennis’ historic roots from England and France, it’s quite disappointing that it took England almost 80 years for a player to win a slam, and that French players have won just one slam since WWII

It's about men's tennis only, should be obvious.

Pretty sexist statement when at no point did you mention in your title or post you were excluding women and doubles players.

No it’s not obvious. And women champions absolutely should be included in a tennis nations credentials. They train just as hard, compete just as hard and are some of the best female athletes on the planet given it’s the only sport women can make decent money at.

Garbage thread. Not including doubles is forgivable but not including women in a discussion about a nation's greatest tennis players is as stupid as it gets. About as stupid as compiling statistics about a nation's greatest figure skaters and then compiling stats only related to the men :-D

What really stands out is France. Crazy that a country so rich in talent for tennis has only produced one GS champion.

Switzerland is literally just Federer (with some Wawrinka help) and the fact that he is a tier 2 country on his own......insane

That classification doesn't make any sense.

Sweden, with 4GS Champions, but 25 Majors is Tier 1, but Switzerland, with 23 Majors is Tier two, along with countries that both have more Majors winners, but have only two more Majors than Switzerland COMBINED.

Meanwhile, Serbia, which has 14 Majors, is demoted to Tier 4, despite of having more Majors than Tier 3 AND the rest of Tier 4 COMBINED.

All teir 1 and 2 nations have won the open era slam (all 4 majors in the open era) except Germany (no German has won RG) and Argentina (no Argentine has won Wimbledon)

The French have so many very good players in the top 200....it’s wierd that not a single one can with anything in the late rounds

Some want to play the hypocrites, it's their right. But knowing that the main interest of tennis historically lies in the men's singles and to a lesser extent the Davis Cup, my choice is quite logical. Just take a look at this ****ing board.
