Grigor Dimitrov Racket

Heyy, I`am from Dobrich, Bulgaria-near 300km from Haskovo(Grigor Dimitrov Birthplace and Residence). One guy from my club takes Grigor Dimitrov test Wilson racket from his father( I said Wilson because his bag was full with all-blacked racket like Prince,Head,Dunlop...). And that guy give that racket to me to play with him and he said that Dimitrov`s father said that the weight of that racket is 370g unstrung. I don`t believe in that and I measured the racket... the weight of racket was 340g stung. The balance was somewhere at 7 pts HL. Head size was 95 sq. cm. String patern was 16x19 but was missed one hole and was 16x18. Grip size I think was L5, silicone in the handle. Beam was 17m Flat beam. The CAP Gromets was changed. Racket looks like a PS 6.0 to me. And the racket had some strange code - WL 591084. I couldn`t get pics and I sorry for that. My coach gotta return the racket to Dimitrov`s father. And this is all where I can told you for Grigor Dimitrov real racket.

I compare the racket with Wilson BLX Six One Tour and Dimitrov`s racket was with bigger head. It is possible to be 93 sq. in. :)

He had previously used a prestige mid, so this could be something customized. Oddly, the prestige mid is actually smaller than the six-one tour...a little under 90.

Maybe it's the 95 that Roger was rumored to be playtesting two years ago. If Dimitrov signs with Wilson maybe that will be excuse enough for them to finally bring out a 17mm Tour 95 - the racquet all Pro Staff fans have wanted for years.

P.S. Are you sure it wasn't a blacked-out Head?

I`am sure. It was definetly Wilson racket. The butt cap was with Wilson logo. And Dimitrov already sings with Wilson. He singed with Wilson at the begining of 2010.

Ah, OK. Thanks. I didn't know that he'd signed with Wilson. Why did he have blacked out racquets from other companies too?

Because his contract with Head was over and other companies wanted to sing with him. And he test other rackets. I don`t do you understand me but I don`t know how to explain to you. :)

He doesn`t use a "stock" BLX. Maybe its a custom BLX maybe it`s not BLX but for me that racket was very very close to PS 6.0 . :)

I remember the balance of his MG Prestige Mid to be about 7pts headlight. It wasn't incredibly heavy when I held it in hand. Not heavier than mine. Quite light for a pro really.

You get Dmitrov's raquet in your hands that might be a very special future GROAT worthy stick.

You have time to weigh it, measure it, and play with it, but have no time to snap a pic?

I don't think it's BS, but it's also not Dimitrov's racket: I think the OP just got hold of one of the many test frames for Dimitrov - not the one he's actually playing with.

That's odd, because the prestige mid he used was super heavy, and had lead all over the place. I took photos of it when it was provided to me and posted them here on TW.

could it be a 6.0 95 with blx pj?
I doubt it since the PS 6.0 95 has a 20mm beam width.

Sounds like this could some new Wilson prototype. I do hope they bring out a box beam "Pro Staff" style racquet that has a 93 to 95 sq. in. head and a 340g strung weight. :)

Oh, sorry. My information on his MG mid is that it was somewhere between 340 strung, 7 pts headlight, strung with full ALU at 42lbs. Don't know about the swingweight but it wasn't incredibly high. Somewhere in the 350s would be my guess.

I got a chance to serve with it way back and what shocked me is that everybody was telling me how heavy pros sticks are and I was using a tweener back then, but when I picked up his racket I was surprised by how light it was. Just shows you that pros don't use super heavy racquets like people like to believe. Maybe they've got their balances tailor-made to their liking but the weight is nothing extraordinary

PS: I've also got a ball signed by Dmitrov, Lundgren and Bulgaria's Davis Cup captain

Rusty, what safe says is quite likely. Grigor's 237.1 specs are L5, 340g-ish, the balance was just a bit more head heavy than 32cm. Don't know about the swingweight but it wasn't heavy at all.
