HEAD G360 Extreme

I’m torn on this frame. On paper, the specs are exactly what i‘m looking for. I just can’t pull the trigger because the cosmetics are so off-putting. I’ve never run into that problem before.
If you can wait a couple of months the new one will not be that "bright" for sure.

I took a flyer on an MP a couple of months ago and I've been surprised. Strung with Volkl V-Square 16 @ 55... spin, power, and precision. Going for lines and a few droppers to boot. Not sure if it's the string, but the MP has a nice ball pocket... plenty of feel IMO. The only drawback with that sting combo is the insane color clash of neon yellow and lava red! I've added a leather grip and I'm good to go.. head is plenty stable in stock form for me.

It is ugly but looks better in person. The black grommets make it look okay though.

it definitely feels like youre holding a neon sign on the court.

i sold mine after i lost a usta match with it. granted i have lost a usta match with basically every racquet ive ever owned.

i found the MP to be very stable and powerful ... it was a little too powerful for me and thats how i ended up selling it. if you can harness the power with spin though, quite a monster of a frame.

do you have more info on the new one? pattern, weight?
first i've heard of a new model coming out
I do think a slightly tighter pattern for this racquet would be good

Anyone can make a comparison between 360 pro with Beast 98 solid fame? They are both powerful racquet that create lots of spin. How is the comfort level and launch angle?

To each their own! Check it out in-person if you can. I really dig it because Head's current visual identity is actually a very clean, simple and modern design (outside the font choices). Plus, the neon yellow goes with just about everything since it's so contrasting. Black strings rather than neon strings does settle it down a bit along with changing the grommets if that's your thing.

All about racquet head speed for these two frames. The extreme pro has a higher launch but is also more manueverable, thus a quick brush up is important to bring the ball down. If you prefer to plow through the ball at a slower rate, than the B is probably your jam.

Comfort is similar. The B is kinda dead near the bottom of the hoop and the E similar at the top.

Thx. Very informative.

Finally played a practice match yesterday with my 360 Extreme MP after a long time off due to winter. I played shockingly well and won 6-0 6-1 against a hitting partner. Granted, he was rusty from not playing for a long time, and it was just practice, so the score doesn't really matter. But the FH was fire; winners all over the place. Effortless placement. CC winners, DTL shots, passing shots. It is fantastic for point construction if you play with spin. You can really build points by moving your opponent around. The spin on regular groundies makes them difficult to attack and lets you open up nice angles.

So, definitely not a honeymoon phase with this one. I ordered the black grommet to change up the look. I'd like to give it a glossy coat, but that might not go well. I will plan on using this for the 2020 season.

I take the edge off the paint job with a bit of reverse psychology. Neon green or pink overgrips somehow make the whole package seem not as intense.

I have had weeks where I've completely lost my timing and confidence with this racket, but that's mostly on me. Playing against some weak junk ballers and having to generate my own pace I can lose my way a little, whereas with my heavier frames I can let the racket momentum carry me through those swings a bit more.

Still my go to frame, but definitely have my eye on the upcoming 360+ speed

The key to using the Extreme, at least for me, is to swing freely and confidently. Yes that goes for any frame, of course, but this one in particular rewards "free" tennis. Relax that wrist and whip through the ball, and you will be rewarded! I kind of like frames that encourage me to play loose.

Completely agree. If I'm playing tight like that, I have a couple of beers and just pretend I'm in practice so I swing freely and go for shots.

Just gotta make sure it's not too many beers

This. There's no need to swing "hard" or overswing. Focus on technique and swing fast, not hard (if that makes sense). Let the racquet do the work.

Can't agree with this more as well. The player should swing the Extreme as you would a Prestige... it will respond in kind.

-im still trying to tame the power, tried many setups, and I think I need to rethink this approach
-I justcut out my last setup of this racquet (FB-soft poly at 56lbs), and it was not-great), ball landed ok( depth of shot was controlled), but it hurt my arm/TE, too harsh
-I am trying it again with FB syngut, 56/54lbs
-im starting to realize this is not a timid racquet!, its all about "ball bashing" and put away shots with spin
-im gonna try to report back with feedback

Try Tour Status or Firewire?

To expand, I use Tour Status 17 in the mains and Firewire 17 in the crosses. I think I strung both around 46 or 48. They've been in there for a while now. Starting to deaden, but still snapping back. It's a really nice blend and doesn't feel stiff at all to me. Good power, good spin. I use Firewire in the crosses to get more bite on my slice. You could swap them if you wanted heavier topspin, but I prefer the more controlled launch angle of Tour Status. Or you could do FB of either.

-the T1.tour.status seems very interesting, first time ive come across it, I don't know too much about T1 strings
-it sounds like a power/soft/co-poly !!??
-ive been trying to tame the power on this racquet (with tension), but i think I just need to play the racquet differently??!!

What FH grip do you use? IMO the Extreme begs to be hit with a SW. Not sure how great it would be for an Eastern.

The T1 Tour Status is a softer co-poly with good power. It is shaped, but not too much. It is a very "balanced" string. Firewire, as far as I know, is the same material as Tour Status but is aggressively shaped for spin. This results in more bite and a higher launch angle.

Check the stats here for stiffness and tension loss: http://www.tennisindustrymag.com/articles/2014/01/3_string_selector_2014.html

…..

-eastern forehand, semi classic flat hitter
-my issue is trying to do touch shots, im gonna completely give up on these when playing doubles
-the racquet works great 4me from the baseline
-but yes, I agree. the new school swing and SW grip really do take advantage of the power and spin

Ah okay. Yeah I think any frame like the Extreme is geared towards baseliners and topspin players. Not sure how well it works for flatter hitters. I actually find the touch to be good for being this type of racquet. I hit lots of droppers, slice, short slice, etc and it does way better than, say, the Pure Drive.

But yeah I don't know how well it works for an Eastern FH. I hit SW. I use a lot of spin. The string spacing isn't super open, so it might work. From my experience, the Instincts are made for flatter hitting. Have you tried the 360 Instinct?

-I have access to it, but I always felt it was too light for me
-flat hitters tend to like heavy frames!, h.instinct is a bit on the light side, even more than the h.extreme

Cant go any lower.. head needs an offer to compete with the pure strike 16x19..a 98 inch spin machine with hp..
Radical pro is decent.. but specs similar to the ps would be interesting..

imagine if the new extreme 360+ pro does come in a 98 and it is equal to or better than the new pa vs.... and $100 less..

1HBHfanatic

Legend
-that would be nice, a tighter pattern h.extreme
-the control of all that power was hard todo with the last one
-i also felt it needed more SOLID weight, to counter the hard shock to the arm at impact

The new + PJ is fire. Btw, I am one of the "friends" that @DJTaurus asked for an opinion. :-D :-D I demo'd both MP and Pro and bought the Pro the next day. Great racquet, very underrated. Feel and control are great for tweener and the racket gives you TONS of power and spin and control. Serves, returns, slicing, everything works with this one at the moment. Very surprised to be honest.

Not sure if honeymoon period or what but this one works great for my game. I strung mine with ALU power/ Yonex PTP at 52# and the control the racket offers is unreal.

What I feel is important with this one is proper stroke fundamentals and more specifically the last phase of the swing. Half-assed shots will fly.

For anyone who cares, I also demo'd the new Speed MP which is the same thing as the previous one. Feel at contact is a bit less raw but it is essentially the same racquet.

Cheers!
