Head Gravity

This would be awesome for the grass and fast hard courts - i played with the XP prestige pro for about a year - and if it had the feel of this Gravity Pro it would be a lethal weapon. (Probably still go for Grav Pro on clay though).
Yes I used pro tour 630 (racquet that prestige came from) and at this point of my fitness level I would opt for gravity pro as well. I hit gravity pro next to prestige mid classic and feel was similar to me with bigger sweet spot (twice as big lol).

Pro tour 630 was still little softer more buttery but 100sq of sweet spot more than makes up for it imho

I’m finding the sweet spot pretty small. For me the upper stringbed is pretty dead.
Yes, TWU measured the same, sweetspot is not as big as Head want it to have! In my opinion a racket which has not a special play in the Head range and is unnecessary on the market!

What string & tension? Maybe that needs to be lowered? Different TW testers played with different tensions according to their style/level per review.

That is a tall claim; tempting my racquetoholism back! :) if the feel is as good as the older prestige mids, I will have to pull the trigger.

I would not say it’s better than 630 but definitely easier to use then 630.

Feel is good not as soft as 630 but 90% there no need for dampener and very satisfying hit like 630 was.

Feels better than my 93p strung with velocity which is a softer string vs one that came with the gravity pro demo which looks like anthracite gray head poly some form of hawk I think.

I’m just hesitant to buy without trying new blade first that could be even softer but 20mm beam I think would be my preference vs blade 22mm

Not really not sure which twu racquets you compared but if you compare pure drive and gravity pro they have the same size sweet spot

Welcome to club! The RF97 is a darn good frame, me too I’ve tried to divorce it (twice) with the Yonex SV95 and the Prince PP100P (lol!!!!), but I keep coming back to the Wilson as I get the best match results with it! Like I said, I shall see how my “relationship” goes with my Gravity Pro!!

Update!: It was Sunday doubles practice matches this morning, and guess what? ........ (drum roll please...) , I won all 3 of my practice matches with my Gravity Pro!! Very dialed in with it today and the other players do notice it! Now, I am EXTREMELY close of making the switch from my RF97!

Has any one been able to compare the Pro to a weighted up Tour?

The tour looks more appealing to me with the potential room to modify.
It would be easy to match the weight, balance and swingweight of Pro but with the benefit of lower flex and more power from the 22mm beam.

that's an interesting thought.
where would you add weight?

Nice to know. The Prince phantom pro is a pillowy dream to hit with, but it won't hold up against heavy hitters [emoji17]

Is the G pro better in that regard?

Please do compare to your other rackets, blade/Ultra Tour/ Angells. Keen to hear about you opinion. Thinking about the gravity as well!

Yes please! I am considering the Gravity and would love comparisons to Angell, Phantom Pro, etc.

Thanks!!

Yep, agree; weighted Tour would have a much more accessible G-spot.

I can confirm! I have briefly used the Prince PP100P and I have the same problem as you, but the G Pro is so much better against heavy hitters!

Demo'd the Gravity MP yesterday. Did not care for it in the least bit, and I'm a "Head Man". I'm currently gaming the 360 Extreme Pro and really digging it. Hated the MP. Maybe it was the strings/tension they had, but not for me. Had all the feel of a 2x4.

Maybe it was the light weight of the MP that bothered you? You should try the Pro!

Bought the Pro strung with head hawk touch at 48lb. Played 2 hours of doubles last night.

Similar SW & stiffness rating to my usual DR98+, but the Pro is a lot easier to swing with (despite 5g heavier), more manoeuvrable at net, feels softer (I can now understand why people say "buttery") with larger sweet spot. Off center hits are more forgiving on my elbow/wrist. No noticeable difference in serves, which is one of the strengths of DR98+.

The only issue is the excess power from the 100 sq inch head. I'll have to dial it in in the next few outings.

I had graphene speed pro 4 years ago but had to switch to yonex due to tennis elbow. No pain at all after last night's hit. The racquet is going to be a keeper!

To increase satisfaction when hitting it, you need less Graphene and more Grafenberg; although you - and possibly your partner - may defy Gravity temporarily, ultimately you should achieve a substantial reduction in stiffness.

where did you put the hoop weight? Did you try and keep the same balance?
I tried 3 & 9, and also at 12. Liked 12 better as I felt racquet got sluggish a bit with weight at 3 & 9. I go by feel really and just 2 grams at 12 with HEAD finest calfskin leather grip, overgrip, and dampener did the trick.

Racquet is at 332g now. Balance is 5 pt HL. Swingweight feels like my usual 330 (just a tad under maybe). Hits heavy balls with good dictating prowess, no problems with stability etc. Very impressive comfort. Control lacks a bit compared to Speed Pros that I have been using but it is still decent. I mean, I really have no knocks on this stick at the moment. I hit with local college team kids and if the racquet can stand up to their balls, it is well and good in my book.

For balance, I like 5-6 point HL. Stock balance was coming to 3 points HL. So it kind of worked out for me.

Better than the 360 speed pro?

Please compare.
Sure I'll try to compare.

I have been playing with Speed Pros for the last few months. They still reign supreme in the control department. I mean with an 18x20 like that, you will have better control than a 16x20 of the Gravity MP any day. The Gravity MP is more comfortable though, has a bigger sweetspot (and I string Speed Pro in low to mid 40s) and you can whip the Gravity MP more for better spin. I felt the power level was somewhat similar for both. I do string my Pros lower though. The MP is at 50 lbs whereas I believe one of my Speed Pro was 42 lbs and one was 45 lbs.

I think a better comparison for the Speed Pro would be with the Gravity Pro. I haven't tested the Gravity Pro yet but I will be sure to share thoughts when I do.

Gotta say, curious to see what this frame is like.

But i would say i'd love to see a 27.5 players frame out there, but not liking getting even close to an option like that happenening.
Head please listen to the masses, bring back Twaron, make us a frame that doesnt feel like a brittle piece of overstiff balso wood, go back ot what made you great rather then throwing every new idea out there into your range.

Heck i'd go a 27.5 all blk microgel radial midplus or OS if i could, made a gr8 platform for mods

For a terrific players frame at 27.5 demo the ProKennex KiQi 5X. Spin, Power, Stability and Control and a reasonable SW. The big "innovation in materials" Head is using is Spiral Graphite - ProKennex has been using Spiral Graphite for the last two years. It is easy on the arm inspite of a high RA.

I am not sure that it is even that new or just for comfort. Angell 63RA frames are layered at a 45 degree angle because it allows you can reduce the stiffness while keeping more graphite and a solid feel. This would create a spiral like layup on the frame. I wouldn't be surprised if the PT57A and older HEAD's have a very similar 'spiral' layup, hence it feeling like their older racquets. Just another marketing gimmick but at least this one translates into better frames. If they can take the garbage quality 'graphene' out of it we are good to go.

I may have erred when I implied the Gravity Pro was softer than my PT630 ------------ Gravity Pro full bed of multi, my PT630 Full bed of poly ---- however, I still stand behind all my other comments including that if felt like a pillow

I agree; demoing the Gravity pro and after a long time, Head has made a very good racquet. Feel is awesome; much better than the previous Graphene versions; though, may be not as good as the classic frames.

TW review is spot on; very good for serving, slicing and volleying. Don't know why Head did not release the Tour version (305g) in US? They are releasing a good line after such a long time and the 305g static weight range is one of the highest selling. Why skip US?

Comparing to other racquets...
- Previously I demoed Graphene 360 Pro; that was so hollow and with no plow. Gravity Pro is much better in every category!
- Feel is slightly better than my TC100 70RA, but not as maneuverable; TC100 has better directional control and has more spin (because of the string pattern). Surprisingly, serving is better with G-Pro; not speed wise, but for kick and slice serves. Both are equally stable.
- IG Prestige Mid: still this is the best feeling racquet; but G-Pro has a bigger sweetspot and very forgiving.

I am not that interested in the Blade line, because of the balance and the muted feel. Rather, the new Babolat Project 2020 Tour version coming soon looks interesting.

I just received my Pro and MP from TW demo program. I tried out the Pro for 2 hours today and found the racquet offers great control, solid on volleys, and easy to serve. The big concern for me was whether the 100 sq inch racquet size would be hard to maneuver but I didn't have any issues. The racquet is much softer than the Graphene 360 Speed Pro and Speed Pro.

Volleys were very solid but serves was easy using this racquet. It was very solid and easy to hit various types of serves. The only thing I struggled with is on slices. GThe balls don't penetrate or have that bit compared to using my 2015 Blade 98 18x20 so not sure if it is string related as well.

The racquet came strung with Lynx at 51lbs so it is tension higher than my normal preference for 18x20 string setup and I usually use Head Hawk Touch so would like to hear from others what tension you would string this at and how Lynx compares to Hawk Touch.

I need advice on which Gravity Racquet to buy. I want lighter stick because it works better for my game. I choosing between Gravity MP 312gr and MP lite 295gr. With MP i would play in stock + overgrip (~317gr) and MP Lite i would add Wilson Shock Shield grip +10 gram + overgrip (~310gr). I fear that MP will be too sluggish for me with 3 HL balance and ~317gr weight and MP Lite could be unstable. At the moment im playing with Prince Textreme Tour 100T with some weight in the handle 313gr. Prince a little too heavy for me (306-310 my sweetspot), but stability is good. Anybody can give me advice?

I played two sets of doubles with the Tour yesterday. I was leaning towards the Pro first, but now.. The Tour is such a good blend of control and power + extreme nice feel and comfort. My main stick is the VCORE Pro 97 310 and it was a very easy transition, just pick up and play. Comparing the Pro, Tour and VCORE Pro: The Pro has the best plow trough, which is a very nice feel when you hit the sweet spot. But the swing weight is not for everyone and to be honest I think some people that play with player racquets could use some extra power. There the Tour comes in, it still has allot of control but also some good amount of power. The VCORE Pro is lower on power and has less plow trough (in stock form).

Would you be able to offer a couple comparisons as follows please :)

Does the tour feel different? Is it the exact same pattern but 22mm beam?

Is there much difference in the way they swing through the air? Does the 22mm tour feel any slower?

I read above that they feel smaller than swinging around other 100" frames, would you agree?

I use 93P so it's a breeze to swing but it's too heavy for my gf to play with at this stage.

It does feel different, but not that much. The feel on impact is almost the same. The Tour swings easier trough the air. The pattern on both is an open 18x20, no problems with launch angle.

Yes it plays definitely smaller. I really don't like 100" frames, but I love these. Strangely it also feels shorter then my VCORE Pro.

Why would the Tour swing faster?
The Vcore is more headlight, lower swingweight, and thinner beam.

Hoop shape would be my guess, I found the Duel G97 to be very cumbersome through the air for its specs which I couldn't really put my finger on. The Vcore series seem to me to be very solid and stable which might be the reason. It wasn't necessarily slow, and they hit a great ball but from my experience, but they put a premium on plow through rather than manoeuvrability.
