Did you try to add weight to MP?

I tried it yesterday vs an opponent that was also trying a new racquet, and either way is somewhat slower than me in court movement, less stability in shots, so couldn't put much pressure on me as well with the usual frame.
Launch angle is of course higher, due to 16x20 vs 18x20. Finding depth was much easier than with Tour.
But the 10g less weight made miracles. Mostly negative miracles.
Even at low / moderate speeds, at times I could feel that the racket lacks stability.
From the BH wing, 2HBH, it felt like a feather, and a few times I had to literally look that I still hold the racket in my hands.

On the positive side.
Access to spin and depths seems to be fine.
Tried to help my opponent and miss a few shots, but couldn't, they all landed inside the court.
Was relatively easy to choose between flat-ish shots and top spin shots.

I am thinking now if adding weight could solve the stability issues.
I'll be curious to hear how/where/how much weight you add. My MP should arrive today and I'll take some initial unstrung numbers, and also after building up the grip, etc. Not sure if I'll have time to string it today though.. Depends on when it's delivered lol

it's a demo frame.
I think I'll need the acceptance from the shop, just in case if some traces will remain on the frame.

Current thinking is following:
Replacing the standard grip with leather and adding an overgrip shall add around 6-7 grams.
Adding another 4-6 grams, probably at 3 / 9, or 2 / 10, or perhaps 2-3 grams at 2 - 3 o'clock and another 2-3 grams at 9 - 10 o'clock.
I used a not very precise scale to weight the rackets, and it showed me:
345 g for PA, leather grip + overgrip, strung
330 g for Gravity Tour, standard grip + overgrip, strung
315 g for Gravity MP, standard grip, strung

GT felt about right weight-wise. It was more about the 18x20 pattern, that makes it more difficult to keep length, in particular when my opponent is a good one and an easily generate own pace.
So, assuming that the scale rounds to the nearest 5, and given PA weight and GT weight, theoretically adding weight in a range between 10-15g should help.

Sorry I made a mistake. I checked with my friend and it does say MP (he has the Pro as well), but it's a "standard pro stock model" whatever that means haha

Probably way off base here but funnily enough I was told by a Head rep way back in the day - so who knows about the veracity - that while Head supplied 'Pro Stock' frames to their sponsored players, these frames were pretty much all the same i.e. one 'standard' target spec. and it was up to the pros to customise them to their liking from there. The oracle @vsbabolat can probably enlighten us.

That sounds about right! It depends on the level of the "sponsored player" apparently, and he's a physio who's player is sponsored by Head so he gets all the perks lol. He was telling when he picked it up there was a ton of "standard pro stock" models, then the if it was custom it was a box with the players name on it (obviously).

Is anyone else playing with the Gravity S? Any comments, good or bad, on the frame?

I’m playing it. I really, really like it. It’s odd for me because I thought it would be too big but it’s the perfect racquet for me for comfort, power, & control. It’s very comparable to them POG OS, Head Radical OS, and Wilson Blade 104. For me it has better control than all of the others. More power and spin than the Blade and Radical but more control than the POG.

Just demoed the Gravity Pro. It is a godsend! Felt like 85% of the power of a Pure Drive, yet with magnificent control, and without the stiffness. (Though it felt more like a RA of 66 instead of the proclaimed 62)

also demoed the MP earlier. It was pretty bad (didn’t add any mods). Less powerful than the Pro unmodded, control wasn’t great either when playing defence (perhaps because it’s too lite)

Yes, maybe add some weight will help but already sold it (i got it 2nd hand and come to think about it, might be a defective one because it is soooo much worse than the Pro in terms of stability).

I tried adding a lot of weight to an S and that didn't help with lack of plow either. Going to demo th Pro and see if more stock weight does the trick.

Is the Gravity S (104 sq.in.) the same mold as the old Head Speed Lite (102 sq.in.)?

They look very similar with the teardrop shape head and both have a 24mm beam.

I added another training session with the MP and ball machine.

Volley - even easier than with Tour

Baseline / Ground strokes.
Warm-up and low to medium speed -> I found it to be a very versatile frame. A lot of control, easy access to depth, easy access to speed. Choose what you want: flat-ish or more spinny strikes.
Yet, when I increased the pace of the incoming balls, then it was very different. But it might be as well due to the stringbed, as it was a similar situation with Gravity Tour, but changing to a familiar string to me made all the difference.
Same when I tried to generate my own pace as opposed to "neutral shots", the response was very unpredictable. From very juicy shots, to awful mistakes. Could be weight, could be stringbed. Gravity Tour felt the same till I changed the stringbed.

Overheads + Flat-ish 1st serve.
Visually it is more powerful than the Gravity Tour. But as I was alone, and didn't check with radar, can't be confirmed neither by opponent, nor by data.

Second serve.
Again, visually the bounce was higher than with Gravity Tour.
But, somehow the issues I had with PA as well came back. I think after 10-15 minutes I started finding my control on the kick-serve, but in a surprising way, even with potentially lower bounce, I do have access to more variation and stability from GT.

I guess, I'll try to ask for longer demo period with MP, stringing it with familiar string to me, and perhaps adding some weight.

I found the MP groundstrokes unpredictable too. Even if it was lower powered, but with a more consistent power range, I’d appreciate it more

You will definitely like the Pro. How do you like the spin potential for the S?

On forehand spin was easy to find, but for my 1 HBH there was such a lack of plowthrough that topspin shots would just kind of "flutter" and land short. Tried adding 8 grams to the hoop, but it still had that problem for me. The stock weight on the S needs to be bumped up some, imho.

Just got my MP delivered:

Weight: 294g
Swingweight: 290 kg/cm

I'll string it up tonight, build the grip up, and weigh it again. I'll be able to check swingweight tomorrow and forgot my lead at work lol

I will give the Gravity Tour a serious go now! Will beef the SW to around 330 strung (Head Hawk Touch 1.25), add lead and silicone and have a static weight of around 320 grams unstrung. It´s always fun beefing the frames when you have a SW machine to check the correct weight/balance and SW. Imagine if a company like head would sell light hairpins that you could customize yourself. The problem is often a to high static weight to begin with. Not so much room for modifications.

Try add weight in the handle.

So I have the MP numbers before and after modding to my specs:

Strung with S7T 45/42#, no overgrip, no dampner: 308g (no sw checked).

Here's how I mod every frame:

1) I get 3/8 grip and use electrical tape to add weight and build-up the grip to a size I like. Sometimes to 2 wraps, sometimes 3 the length of my hand.

2) Added lead at 12 to counter weight in handle, etc. Then proceeded to move lead around (now sitting at 9-11, 1-3 on the head) and added a little more lead to the handle to bring the static weight up.

Final weight with overgrip/dampner = 344g, sw = 339 kg/cm2.

Impressions:

Serves - I didn't take many while teaching yesterday but the spin was solid. I had good kick, good slice, but I think with a lower tension I could get a little easier pop like I'm used to but still there was a good amount.

Groundstokes - didn't hit a ton as well yesterday, but the slice was excellent, and if I went after the swing solid topspin that felt heavy coming off the strings.

Volleys - best part was the volleys. Crisp, solid, good touch. Impressive on the volley.

All in all fun first time out hitting. Will do a little more testing today with my juniors.

I need some info please on gravity pro. How does it feel polarised or depolarised? My main weapon is fh and i like to control the point with it

My current set up is 3g at 10 and 2 and a heat shrink sleeve bringing total weight at 363g/12.8oz. Balance is 8pts HL and SW is 341. This is just right for my doubles game which is 98% serve and volley (I only play doubles). When in the baseline I hit full FH topspin strokes. Backhand is mostly slices. When just drilling I love ball bashing from the baseline with full strokes on both FH and BH. For my kind of gamestyle this setup is just enough. When I tried moving the lead to 12 the tip weight was too pronounced and kinda bothered me. It made the racquet more unwieldy at the net for quick volleys and touch shots and made it just a tad more powerful than I needed.

How does the gravity pro compare to the newest version of the POG oversize? Is the sweetspot much higher up on the gravity pro?

I have the POG 107 reissue. Haven’t hit with it in a while. But I’ve never had any issue with it stock. With my Gravity Pro I have to weight it to get it to my C10 Pro and POG 107 heavy weight category.

I hope TW USA does a review of the Tour ...and that Jason is on the panel..
He is the best benchmark for my taste in a racquet..

Head must have decided the demand for the Gravity Tour is out there. Head only have one other model at 305g being the Prestige Tour. I'm sure retail outlets include TW have fielded many requests for the Tour. Very positive video review from TW eu. The G Tour could be the pick of the Gravity line up for stronger competitive players, with the specs on the G Pro looking above average human proportions and probably only suitable for elite super strong players.

After a club match and a few hitting sessions with the Gravity Pro, coming from a Pro Staff 97, its fair to say the Pro Staff is now being retired. The racket is incredibly smooth once moving and has good feedback on contact, it doesn't like to be rushed through the shot. I do like how you can feel the mass move as you swing, something I always found lacking in the pro-staff.

My serve and my groundstrokes are better, slices are better. I dont get as much spin as easily and my volleys are taking a bit of time to dial in. But its a super fun and confidence racket... the feel on the ball is super nice, the sweetspot is indeed massive.

Strung with ICE Code at 51lbs

Hoping a Gravity 97 320, less polarized is being considered by Head. The Pro is overall very good but does lack some control.

Right now, I like Gravity Bro and Brade 98, haven't quite decided which one is for me yet. Also curious to try the new Gravity Toor and TF40. Have any of you tried these racquets? In your opinion how do they compare?

For me:
Brade 98 - better overall racquet, solid strengths (but nothing special), no real weaknesses
Gravity Bro - better baseline game racquet, a bit heavy (I'm concerned about potential injuries), better for baseline rallies - more power, and a tad more control, not that good at the net though

For me the gravity tour is perfect..
MP was a tad to light playing stock..
Pro was simply to heavy for me..
Both had great attributes..
Tour is a great comprise..

The Tour I feel is a good compromise between the Blade and the Pro but with more free power then both.

I have both and feel the same. The Pro is just a bit too heavy for me once I start getting a bit tired, especially on serve or at the net. But I really like the feel of the Pro. That being said the tour is my go to racquet at the moment.

A few months in with Gravity Tour and it just gets better. Have officially retired my beast 98's and made the switch.
Did think about trialing the Blade 98 v7 but got so grooved in and been playing some of my best and consistent tennis that I didn't want to or feel the need to experiment further. Added weight to the handle to make it a tad more headlight, throw in a 1.20g round poly at around 46-48lbs and I'm all set. Looking to pick up a 2nd very soon.

Did do side by side test with my blade 98 CV 18x20. Blade had lower launch angle, less power but more control. Was slightly better on serves and at net. Spin, power, slice and backhand all better with Gravity Tour.

Man you got me thinking about trying the Tour right after I’m getting settled with the Blade v7 18x20 lol. I like it but it’s a little on the heavier side, which the Tour is lighter...

If you're settled with the blade I would probably stick with it. Great frames. Loved my CV version but it became hard work in longer matches and on indoor, faster courts even more so.

Not much. Just incremental at the moment. A few grams of putty. Will firm it up with silicone once I'm totally happy with the weight.

Spent years playing with Prestiges (first iPrestige, currently Microgel after not feeling the recent youteks). Like posters before me have said, the Gravity has a lot of forgiveness and it suits my baseline game well. I'm a 4.0-4.5 depending on how long of a break I take from consistent play/drills and the forgiveness in the upper hoop helps me on shots on the run or mishits. FWIW I play with the MP unmodded; may try lead at 3 and 9 but haven't gotten around to it yet

Swapped out the standard grip for a head finest calfskin. Man did that make a world of difference. Simply having the racket a touch quicker through the air and I felt like any weakness I felt this frame had (aside from the 100 sq in head) was gone

I’ve been tinkering with the pro for awhile now. Playing it with the lynx tour prototype and the leather grip and might be on to something here
