hiting ball through a fence

anybody every hit a tennis ball through a intact fence? i did it yesterday when i was playing a match with my cousin. i thought the ball disappeared when my cousin said it when through the fence.

It is definitely possible as I have done it countless times. It just has to hit the centre of the chain link and then with some spin it should get stuck/go through.

yeah its possible. my friend did it when he was practicing serves. first the ball got stuck like more than halfway in the fence and it just fell out on the other side. and it was a pretty decent ball too, not a dead ball.

i remember hitting a winner against my friend when we were rallying and out of nowhere the ball disappeared when it shot past my friend.
so long story short when we left the courts my friend spotted the ball a couple of meters from the courts.

It happens pretty often atleast when I play. It's usually my friend who hits his first serve long that it ends up stuck in the fence or it goes through.

Yesterday I hit a forehand winner straight through the fence while standing 5 feet behind the baseline, and a serve in the corner out wide on the deuce court straight through the fence. Both with a fresh can of balls too, I was pretty proud of myself

I always thought the same thing. But it seems some fences are manufactured with slightly larger gaps between the wire. I don't know if its by design or a glitch in the manufacturing process.

I went to England a few years ago and served on 3 different courts. At each one I repeatedly served balls right through the fence. I don't remember them sticking in the fence like they usually do on most fences, just shooting right on through. It was frustrating because then you have to go chase them.

Since then I have ran across a few other courts with slightly bigger openings, including the courts at my alma mater, Truman State University.

just got done playing with my buddy... hes got a big flat serve and a big kicker. I loss count of how many times he sent it through the fence. Good thing there are courts on the other side so they just throwem back over to us.

No, one school I go to has bigger holes and I knocked a couple through. It was more of a plasticy fence.

The one at my school is metal and seems smaller as I play here so much more yet the most I can do is get a ball stuck.

Some courts have regular fences not really made for tennis; the ball goes through all the time. Some have smaller holes but it's still possible the hit throught them. A good tennis court will have a fence designed for tennis with small holes and it's "impossible" (i think) to hit through them.

I hit a flat serve through the fence once. Funny thing is, the serve was a let, just barely (it kinda clipped the net but because of the speed it was travelling, it just kept going). Let me find the clip.

If you turn up the sound you can hear the ball clipping the tape. Dont know if youtube quality can see the ball bouncing around after it passed through the fence though.

not they dont. most courts i have seen do have the same sized holes, which i often hit balls through or get the ball stuck in the links. i have seen, however, smaller links which the ball does not go through. these smaller holes suck, because the ball bounces off them a lot more, so the ball always goes back into the court after hitting the fence

The courts that I practice at mostly are set up strange, and there's an area between the sets of courts that you can't get to from either side, so I've lost a few balls from time to time.

I hit balls through the fence multiple times pretty much every time I practice my serves. It gets annoying, really, to have to continually go chase them down, especially here at school where there is a court directly behind the fence. I actually hit a serve one time that went through two fences (we had pods of two courts with about a 4 foot walkway between them). That was pretty cool, but usually it's just more of a hassle. I much more prefer to see how high I can make the balls hit the back fence.

Im sure since they have a special tennis court fence that ALL tennis courts are surrounded by -_-. Ive seen around 3 diff sizes and one was a lot bigger than the other two

Some chainlink fences will be pulled tighter making the holes just slightly bigger, it just depends on the construction crew. I've stuck a couple at my courts, but I've never seen anyone, even the 4.5 guys, hit one through for some reason.

Most "tennis" fences are too small for it too happen; cheaper fences are another story. At my local park any flat serve over 90mph goes through the fence, and most kick serves that get to it at the upper portion of arc.

one day during clinic we were playing oplympic tennis and he served and it sizzled loudly went through the fence and almost went through the fence behind it

you see they were two fences there one sperating the court and the wall and another to close it in

You can easily do this by standing 5-10 feet behind the baseline and slicing the ball through, slicing tends to go through more then hitting flat. Try it out.

After 3 hours of practicing today, I somehow fired an ace out wide from ad court through the middle of the fence... the guy on the next court was went O_O

Best part was people were walking behind the fence to see it Luckily I didn't hit anyone. Thought I'd share my minute of fame.

my buddy manages to get it stuck in the netting covering the fence quite often. hes never put it through the fence but has seen me do it a few times off serves or backhand slice shots, but i think its very impressive to get a ball stuck in the fence through the mesh.

try some backspin forehands from bout ten meters from fence. do it real hard and every ball goes through

Haha this happens all the time to me, sometimes I even like to knock a few at the fence just to see if I can get one to shoot through.

If the ball goes fast enough and hits the right spot, well yeah it goes right through.

Its annoying having to go get the tennis balls after that though....
