How many frames do you carry with you? & New Pure Drive for 2012

I play with the original Pure Drive Roddick+ and also the GT version. I'm looking to get a few more sticks and wondering what people know about the new version of the Pure Drive for 2012 is it worth waiting for that I'm assuming there will be some improvements on the frame anyone have any clue what new technology will be in this frame?

Thanks,
Phil

I used to carry three that were 12.9, 13.0 and 13.1 oz stock so that I could pick what I wanted depending on circumstances. Now I carry two that are matched and that's good enough. I have a third that I need to match to the other two but I suspect that I will just carry two in the future. BTW, I'm stringing with full poly - if I were stringing with a multi, then I'd probably carry three.

I've become sort of a string breaker over the past while, so I've been carrying 3-4 frames with me now. Before I only used to carry 2!

I string 1 poly, 1 hybrid and 1 multi/synthetic, depending on how I'm feeling that day.

I use 2 APD's, with a full poly, and a synthetic, and then a PDRGT+ with a hybrid if I need more on my serves. :)

Fuji, what is your multi/syngut setup?

My string set up's are:

Fully Poly: Tour Bite 17 @ 35lbs

Multi/Syngut: Head Rip Control hybrid with PSGD, it's a nifty little hybrid I've been trying. Pretty good durability with RIP in the mains and a bit more comfort with PSGD in the crosses. Full beds of PSGD have also been working well for me, but I'm a big fan of RIP and it works pretty well in the APD.

Poly Hybrid: PHT 17 w/ PSGD in the crosses. Both 17 Gauge!

I bring two with me on the court. No bag, just two rackets and a blue G2. I have two others that I don't bring on court. All matched rackets.

I carry 3, two matched and one with a test string set up, be it tension or change in string.

It looks like I'll be making the switch to the Melbourne and will probably just keep two going forward as I rarely break strings in 18x20s

I do not like the bag, go to matches or training with a backpack, which fits only 2 racquets. Yonex RQiS 2 Tour main, Wilson K-6.1 or Volkl PB 315 replacement. usually with the Alu Power Rough string.

My bag holds 5-8 matched Dunlop Aerogel 4D200s.
Numbers differ because it depends on how many strings broke the day before.
When playing 3 hours I usually need 2 sticks.
That might explain why I own 8 racquets. And since I don't want to change between different ones, I got mine matched by a company named "Ring and Roll".

I like the tennis bag as I carry up to 64 ounces of water (for those 3 hour summer matches), lead tape, overgrips, and a clean shirt. I carry a backpack with a laptop so carrying a bag allows me to carry my tennis gear and my work stuff and allowing me a free hand to open those heavy security doors at the office.

I don't have a specific number that I typically carry. It depends a lot on the circumstances.

- If I'm just goofing around I might bring 5-6 different rackets and play with them - some wood, some old graphites, and a matched pair of sticks that I can rely on if things turn more serious.

- For a semi-serious match where I know the player and have an idea what I'll be facing I'll bring 2-3 of the same racket and probably the same string setup.

- If I'm going to a tournament (haven't in a while, but may give it a shot next year) then I'd typically go with 6 rackets in two sets of 3 matched rackets - the rackets may all be the same and the string tension is the difference, or I may pick one racket with a bit more power to it and one with a bit more touch so that I can choose the best setup for the player that I'm matched against. I tend to pick a slightly stiffer frame with slightly tighter strings if I feel like I will be able to constantly attack the net, and slightly softer racket with a slightly lower string tension if I feel like I'm going to need to stay back more. The stiffer racket gives me a nice crisp response on volleys and helps control blocked balls better, the softer racket lets me bend the ball into the court a bit more and helps when looking for pace from the baseline. If I do choose two different rackets then I make sure that they are very similar (ie. Dunlop Max200g and Max300i) so that I can swap back and forth without too much bother.

I typically use older rackets and have a ton of them, so I can set up a matched bag of Max200g and 300i rackets for what most people spend on a pair of current rackets. This gives me more flexibility in matching the sticks I bring to the way I've been playing lately (both in terms of style and quality).

I'm also not a terribly 'competitive' person. I play because I like to spend time on the court hitting a tennis ball. Mixing up my rackets adds to that pleasure. If I go really serious about it again, I'd probably pick up 6 matched sticks and go to tournaments with two or three different string setups.

i carry one pdgtr along with one red G1 and an orange G1.

G2 is for noobs. tastes like cough syrup.

plus it doesn't have the salt.

I used to drink G2 on court for matches, but if matches went long I was prone to cramping in the thighs. My coach took one of my g2 bottles and filled it with more gatorade (he thought i was drinking regular) for my next match after i was given 15 minutes to stretch and relax my legs, and the cramps didnt return.

For whatever reason, original gatorade is much, much better for me.. I stay hydrated and never cramp anymore.
