How much of a fan are you?

How upset do you get when your fave player loses? To what lengths do you go to watch your fave's matches? What about your least favorite player? What was your most emotional moment when watching tennis?

My favorites are Djokovic, Hewitt, Nishikori, Stan and Rosol. I generally check scores of every match they play. I watch matches live whenever they are facing an interesting opponent and I have the time. Unless they are playing a GS semi or final, I don't go out of my way to watch. I get kinda upset if they lose a big match (a GS match or tournament final) but don't really mind smaller loses. My least favorites are Isner, Raonic and Karlovic. I don't watch any of their matches. I don't really get pumped up if they lose. I just don't like watching them play. I am pretty neutral toward all other players. I root for or against them based on the opponent and my mood. My most emotional moments watching tennis were 2012 AO final and Rosol vs Nadal.

Pretty much like you although my favorites are Federer, Nadal, Delpo, Nishikori, Dolgopolov, and to a lesser extent Gulbis, Monfils, Fognini, Thiem, among others. I check the scores on the ATP/WTA live app for pretty much every tournament -- challengers, 250s, up through the majors. I'm on my phone a lot so I have time to check.

I also try to watch as much tennis as I can when I don't have class, hours always changing in college  I won't get all that upset either no matter who loses, it's just tennis, although it is sport and when my favorites lose, it's disappointing. I'm not a huge Djokovic, Murray, Ferrer, Berlocq, Gruntollers, and all of those way over the top grunters fan. For me, when a player does that, I'm not a fan. I love tennis though, full of passion and unpredictability, especially this year so far which is awesome.

Not much of one at all here. At the risk of sounding like an old fogey, I don't enjoy watching much pro tennis today. I find it pretty boring compared to the pre-graphite racquet era. I'd rather watch match recordings from the '70s. But I realize I'm in the minority in my views.

I've never missed a Nadal match on TV ever. And I've been following his matches since 2004. But I accidentally fell asleep during the Nadal-Isner 5-setter at Roland Garros 2011, so missed most of it.

Before Nadal arrived, I liked watching Agassi, Sampras, Kucera, Hingis, Kournikova, but I missed their matches from time to time.

As a rule, I don't watch Federer's matches. I watch his matches only in case if I want to see Rafa's next possible opponent. Fed looks like he doesn't want to be on the court. And I wish him to get off the court as soon as possible.
One of my most emotional moments in tennis has been the match Stakhovsky vs Federer at 2013 Wimbledon. I laughed for more than 10 minutes after seeing the score.

I agree, Federer has a negative on-court aura.

I am more of an anti-fan. I hate certainly players and enjoy it when they lose. I don't like anyone in particular.

Well, were you inspired by the typical Nadal hate that runs rampant whenever he wins!

Lets face it! Nadal was screwed... Everyone with a brain cell knew Kei wasn't making it through the match with Nadal.

Nadal either was picking on an injured player, which seems to go against the fellow tennis player credo. Or Nadal had to play below Kei's level..... I'm still wondering who won the coin toss. I can't remember the last time I saw Nadal serve first.

Fav is still Rafa obviously, I try to watch all his matches, I do the same with Venus... I know she won't be around much longer so I catch every match she plays as long as I'm free. Players I like but aren't fanatic over are Stan, Dolgo, Federer, Monfils, and Hewitt, if they're playing someone interesting or a big match I watch. I stopped getting upset at Rafa losses a while back now, it's just not that serious. He exceeded my expectations a long time ago. Never thought back when I joined that he'd still be playing tennis in 2014, and certainly not world #1

No kidding. Last year was a bonus! I didn't expect him to come back at all, let alone win as much as he did.

I have been grateful for whatever I get, knowing the days are numbered.

Whenever he wins, it's gravy.

^He's still the most dynamic guy in tennis, like him or not, and imo the most exciting player I'll ever have a chance to watch, so I'm just in it for the epic moments at this point, I'm sure there's a few more to come :) The way he can turn a match around is just insane. FO 2013 and USO 2013 were unforgettable moments. The image of him doing the lawnmower after that USO 3rd set became classic instantly. And the commentary when he held from 0-40  "that was a houdini job right there"

 Gotta love him.

What's so funny?

It was an amazing moment, brings a smile to my face every time I think about it, nothing is funny, Nadal can just be incredible to watch if you aren't busy drinking haterade. Imagine how you would have felt if that was Federer, and you tell me.

Totally agree, even if it embarassed his chicks!

I try to watch Simon whenever he is playing. Although he is in a terrible slump at the moment, I try to watch his matches. Other players I watch a lot are Murray, Hewitt, and Monfils. During 250's and 500's I'm not able to watch, I usually check the scores daily.

Fav player is Fed, I try and watch all his matches live and watch highlights on every match he plays. I get upset when he loses, a lesser extent when hes playing Del Potro, Tsonga and most of the other French players. I love it when Nadal loses, a great to start the day...

I'm a Murray fan first and foremost, there hasn't been much to cheer about this year though :( He get's a little bit of flack on this site though recently I've realized why (negative attitude is annoying) and those "Murray-Go-Round" matches.

Two emotional moments: When Murray won Wimbledon, it was an amazing experience. 2001 Wimbledon when Ivanisevic best Rafter in the final, man what a match and the crowd full of Aussies and Croats added to the atmosphere

My other Favorites: Federer more so from 2010 as he at 29/30 proved why he is ultimately the greatest player to ever play the game. Others are Djokovic, Pennetta, Errani, Bouchard, Evans, Nishikori, Thiem and Haas.

I can't stand Fognini, I support him as when he's on he's awesome but when he's off it's like watching a child who didn't get his ice cream or something. I don't like the games of Raonic, Isner or Karlovic just like the OP. I don't like Sharapova or Azarenka because of the screeches.

Nadal is the only player I will get up to watch at all hours. I will never miss a Nadal match if I can help it. I don't make a point of watching anyone else and find Federer boring and also find his on court swagger, when he is not being pushed, annoying.

It takes me weeks to get over a Nadal loss.

I can't remember the last time I saw Nadal serve first.

Every time Nadal serves first it's because he didn't win the toss. Only against Nadal, players now elect to receive if they win the toss because they know he doesn't like to serve first.

There is nobody who looks like he wants to be on a tennis court more, I am not sure what you are talking about. If anybody looks like he does not want to be on a tennis court much these days it is your hero Nadal. He looks out of sorts.

Yep, just keeping it real :)

Yeah, at my worst, it may have been a couple days, and really the only reason it was that long is because of all the trolls here. I can't imagine it bothering me that much. Then again, Monfed is still having nightmares about Fed/Potro USO 09, so weeks seem like nothing ;)

I am a pretty loyal fan. Currently my favorite players are Federer, Haas and Dimitrov, followed by Djokovic. I previously really liked Roddick and Sampras (so yeah, Wimbledon 2009 was a weird moment for me :p).

Depending on the match my favorite players win I can be ecstatic or just plain glad. If they play a good match and lose I'll feel a bit down, but it's not too bad. Currently though I am rooting for Federer more than ever because I don't know how long he'll still be around, so every loss of his is accompanied by some irritation by me.

Obviously, it takes Nadal haters forever to let go of his losses, they are still going on about his loss to Soderling 7 years ago let alone Rosol. Me taking weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Both fan reactions are extreme imo. If you are taking more than a half hour to get over a loss of your favorite player or if you are still bitter about your favorite player losing to a player you dislike years later, something is wrong with that picture. That is taking the role of a fan too far.

This x1000. We need to realize, some of these losses make our guys better players and spur them on to do great things.

Fed worshiper and if i were mentally insane I could see myself wanting to have Seles'd Nadal about 8 years ago.

Once Fed quits, I quit tennis until an American man makes a singles slam final.

Furryballs and Cronus would be the first who'd want to do that do Nadal.
