Although I like Roger, he really has no chance of actually beating Roddick in the final with the way Andy is playing. The question is how tough a win would it be for Roddick?

The real question is how a joke account has 400 posts.

I know Fed always plays well vs Roddick but his ****ty play aing helping him!!!!I dont know if we might see this matchup, if it happens, i will say Roddick in 4 sets, Federer is gonna be tired.

Depends. If Federer is at the top of his game (and he should be thanks to Blake) then TOUGH. If he's still a bit complacent (and Andy can mix it up a little, and maybe flatten out the goddamn forehand more than once in a while) then it's a tad closer. (I say a tad cuz Fed is still Fed.)

And, you left out the possibility that if Roddick somehow wins the first two sets, the USTA could step in mid-match with a rule change that all USOpen finals will now be best of 3 . . . .

Whoa . . . sorry guys. Didn't realize what I was typing there. The spirits of Chadwixx and barry must have taken over my body there for a moment.

If only I knew for sure . . .

My guess is hamster, but I need to consult my parents on that one to be sure. I do know they're part Welsh.

if Roddick serves well, he might have a chance. If he doesn't, Federer will become the US Open champion for the 3rd consecutive times. I don't see how Roddick can win by trading ground strokes with Federer like Blake did tonight. Federer is too powerful and consistent.

Roddick will not, I repeat, will not beat Federer. Just say this until it makes sense cuddles26 because it does. The real question here is: how easy will Roddicks win over Youzhny be IF Roddick does indeed win. His draw has been a cake walk; botton line. We all saw how out of form Hewitt was and can confirm his lack of intensity. This just resulted in Hewitt playing terrible, making tons of errors and still almost winning the second set. The match played into Roddicks hands and once again didnt truely force Roddick to perform.

yes, roddick will NOT beat federer? have you seen his record against him?! 1-10 or something like that. Although some of you might argue that roddick has gotten better, and I realize that, but roddick can't beat federer still. Federer has still figured out how to handle roddick's predictable game. Plus, his backhand is no weapon, just his forehand, and even his forehand isn't anything like blake's forehand.

How about 3 easy sets for Roger? He will neutralize Andy's one dimensional serve.
3 easy sets.. hmmm, doubt it.... Home crowd, conors would have him pumped, he's using his serve 2 greater effect he's used 2 havin the ball come back from his serve at this stage, increased confidence, better tactics... I believe fed will win but easy i think not...

oh no cuddles...if they met in final, you have seen i typed "if", which means i have a question if roddick can beat youzhny, who is at least as same hot as roddick, but hitting hard with tactics...the other side, given the fact fed has 7:0 on davydenko. there should be no problem for fed to go into final.

since federer has the history to crush roddick and another same level player hewitt, there seems no chance for roddick to win (i personally think roddick and hewitt are two suckers because of federer). but i'd like to give roddick credit for his recent improvement. my conclusion is roddick has 10% chance to win over fed, if he could beat youzhny

everything could happen. nobody would guess that murray will beat federer. we'll see. but i prefer andy to win this slam than tennis would be more interesting (not only fed and nadal (clay))

Roddick certainly has the tools to beat Federer, if Fed isn't playing his best stuff and Roddick is hitting screaming serves and forehands. Anything can happen in this sport. Blake had 3 set points to take the first set against Fed. He choked it all away (as many players seem to do) and suddenly he is disillusioned and gets bagelled in the next set. These guys all have the game to beat Federer, they just need to put it all together.

Let's wait and see if Roddick takes our Youzhny. Youzhny is a tough player and Andy has had an easy draw so far. However, IF he manages to take out Youzhny, he will never beat Federer. Federer has too much game for Andy even if his game has improved.

I don't think Roddick would have much of a chance. The last time he took a set off Federer was in the 2004 Wimbledon final, and they've played another 4 matches since.

If you remember that final, Roddick was awesome, but Federer still won. Fed can read him like a book.

Get real, Federer choked FAR MORE chances away in yesterdays match then Blake did. Federer still won in 4 sets despite Blake playing out of his mind, and multiple chokes on his own part.

I bet no one picked Roddick to cruise through Leyton that easily either. A guy wins and we bash him. Were such good fans!!

historic action

In a first, Andy Roddick asked that his second, his GF Sharapova takes his place and plays Roger Federer in the finals. Andy thought that Maria would have as good a chance at beating Fed as he would.

During the match, Maria's shrieking clearly disturbed Roger. In response, Federer repeatedly hit drop shot, drawing in Sharapova, and Roger would hit Sharapova in the mouth. After having a few tennis balls hit down the throat Sharapova quieted down and lost 6-3, 6-0, 6-0.

Balance was restored however when Andy beat Mirka in a tough 5 setter on court 11. Andy was broken every set however, he was able to exploit Mirka relatively poor court coverage, for Mirka refused to relinquish her Cheeta coat and Gucci hand bag.

I hope roddick wins...I know his chances are not very good...but anything can happen..it wouldn't be THAT big of a upset if roddick won.

I guess we don't all inhabit the same planet; it would, in my mind, be a huge upset for Roddick to beat Federer tomorrow and I'm not seeing it. I get the feeling over here sometimes that this is a personal Ouja Board for some-they feel that if they put the energy out here it will make it so.

First glance at this Thread and I have to wonder what in the World gave you the opinion that Roddick was going to win ? Granted he played very good ball coming into the Finals but we're talking about the undisputed #1 Player in the World against a guy that hasn't done anything lately other than change Coaches once again. Roddick even got beat by Blake during the Open Series Tuneups. And you saw what happened to Blake against Federer. It nice to see that Andy has a true fan and your day is coming but don't bet against Federer unless you have money to burn.
