How would you react if Djokodal defeated Alcaraz in a slam?

Would conquer yet another gen after
Federer
Murray, Wawrinka, Del Potro, etc.
Medevev, Tstisipas, Zverev, etc

After all this Alcaraz hype, just creating this thread in advance if it does happen. Djokodal could also easily be defeated.

Discuss.

Alcaraz will have lost a match. Nobody died. It's tennis. He'll get up and go again. He's only 19.

Maybe you should think before you type "hype". He is a slam champion and 3x Masters 1000 champion at 19 years of age.

I cannot comprehend the OP. So, Djokovic being the No 1 or No 2 seed , with 22 majors experience behind him and having a phenomenal last 5 years, is somehow a huge underdog against Alcaraz, who won a lone major after beating Cilic, Tiafoe, Sinner in 5 and Ruud in 4 ?

If anything, Djokovic is the favorite until Alcaraz actually defeats him once in a major.

I think Alcaraz is the favorite to win the french open now

Nadal second and Djokovic third.

Alcaraz has the power to beat them both back to back, but in the other slams Novak is still the boss until proven otherwise

It won't be a tragedy since it's just a tennis match.

But I guess such a result would make people change their perceptions on Carlos a bit and not view him as a legitimate future dominator.

Fedfans shall be in tears! But of course they will keep in denial!

Age difference of 6 years is practically of the same generation. Connors has more difference in his 2 main rivals of McEnroe and Lendl.

It would depend greatly on the quality of the match, and other factors surrounding it : what slam it is, how good Djokodal did play, how good Alcaraz was, did he choke or not, etc.

The worst thing is that it would make all the Sinner's fans having an orgasm.

  • For a start I will post "told you so" like a salty moody little b*tch.

  • Then I will write a post about how
    • people didn't learn from IW last year that ATGs are built different from the rest of the tour, so we can't extrapolate results against Tsitsi and co to an in form Djokovic and Nadal, even aged 35-37
    • people w*nking themselves senseless over long winning streaks against this mug field - which a 35 year old after 6 months off went 20-0 against, on his worst surface, at the start of last year - need to temper their hype a little bit
  • I will then make some jokes about Alcaraz being another Hewitt

  • I will eventually be honest and say even a tier 2 ATG is still a valuable asset to the tour, especially one as entertaining as Chazlitos, and that this is nowhere near prime Chaz, who is probably still better than 20 year old Federer was. And that I hope they play again.

Nadal at RG beating Alcaraz is the only big2 victory I can see. Djokovic will be beaten up by Alcaraz at all slams.

Objectively - and I wish this were the opposite case - I think Carlos has a greater chance at beating Rafa (or Novak) at RG than him beating Novak at Wimby.

He’s not shown any real proficiency on grass, but he’s very good on clay.

As a Fedal fan I want Fed’s Wimby record protected but there’s no one to do it. And I want Rafa to win the slam race. But I don’t see how anyone will beat Novak at SW19. Certainly not Carlos.

Fed fans have moved on. He retired last year. The real tennis fans from the Fed fan base have selected some other player to support, those who only gave a damn about Fed have stopped following the sport. None of us are in tears, he didn't win the slam race, what's there to cry about?

If/when it approaches that point, it may be time to develop another hobby.

Would be an epic experience watching 35-y/o Djokovic taking Alcaraz to the cleaners in BO5.

That is, until my morning alarm clock goes off.

I think Alcaraz can defeat Novak at any slam or venue tournament. Alcaraz is great perhaps an all time great by the end of 2025 .

if they defeat a well playing alcaraz who isn’t making poor mistakes/choking then they deserve huge credit. Sadly this sort of thing hasn’t happened since like 2012/2013

Rune will always own Alcaraz. No need for Djokodal.

If Carlos learns to play on Grass then I shall believe what you say, Grass definetly favors athleticism of young guns.

He will deliver the final blow to Djokovic at Wimbledon. He will deny Djokovic five in a row! Mark my words! Roger Federer denied Pete Sampras 5 in a row and Jannik Sinner will do it too!! Roger and Jannik were both born in August!!
I can always dream!

I see him dominant, but not as dominant as people would like to believe. I think he has peaked early, there are things he can improve but ultimately his career will come to an end at a young age, similar to his coach. I think Jannik will have a bigger career once he fills out that frame and serves better

Wow. So is FAA, So is Stef. FAA even shares his birthday with Federer. So maybe he has a better shot than Sinner by your mindblowing logic.
