yup- also i noticed he's wearing his white socks higher than the black socks

I think they look cool. regarding the racquet, I think that if it was an all-black with the BLX stuff in red with the inside red too. Photoshop experts, can you make this for me and post it here?

Yes with some red line piping going around the edge of the racquet and down the neck would look pretty cool. I was thinking the same thing....a black racquet with red accents would look very cool.

I think it's hilarious that so many people make such a big deal on how the racket looks, yet are probably the same lot of you who complain about pros using paintjobs. Me thinks the pros know something most of y'all don't. It's not about how the racket looks, it's about how it performs. Just my opinion. LOL

Check out the top of the hoop. "Signature Series." I wonder who else will be featured in this series. DelPony? The Williams Sisters?

So what you're saying is if the racquet were pink you would play with it? Of course, pj matters its a $200 racquet you want it to look good of course performance is a given. I didn't mind the other paint jobs from the past 3 versions with the nCode being the best one I think but this pj version is not up to par.

I never really liked red and white together...

Add blue to that!

I'm repainting an exo3graphite which originally WAS $200 neon green.
And I've used pink overgrips, does not bother me. If anything it distracts your opponents.

Maybe Fed would consider going as big as 98? He could play a really dense 18x20, yet still get that extra pop when he nails the center of the sweetspot.

Isn't his 90' actually about an 88' or something like that? Or am I confusing this with a different racquet?

Here's Federer with his PS 6.0 85 back in 2001:

Here he is with his PS 6.0 85 with the red HPS 6.0 95 Tour paintjob in 2002:

This racquet with the BLX90 paintjob in his hand from the 2011 US Open sure looks to be about the same size as his old PS 6.0 85.

C'mon guys, it's just a camera angle (you can see racquet face turned slightly towards the camera)

Other photos where racquet looks huge - it's because of camera lens, there is definitely an optical distortion.

Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear.

I think the color schemes do, to some degree, play some games with the eyes.

For instance, the dominant black color of the PS 6.0 85 makes the frame look small.

In comparision, here's Fed with Wilson HPS 6.1 with Silver W PJ over the same 85 sq. in. frame. To me, this HPS 6.1 PJ makes the frame look bigger.

To me, this pic with HPS 6.1 PJ makes the frame look like a 90-93 sq. in.!

As a comparison, look at this pic of Fed after officially siwtching to a 90 sq. in., here using the frame with the HPS 6.0 with Yellow W PJ.

The HPS 6.1 and HPS 6.0 PJ frames look nearly identical in size, though we all know one is an 85 and the other a 90, respectively.

Also, like maxpotapov said, one must take into consideration the angle at which the frame was photog'd. That also plays a role in "tricking" the eye.

I hope Wilson brings back the 17mm beam width or smaller instead of the 17.5mm for better agility. Even though it's a small difference I noticed from extensive testing it takes slightly more time to prepare for the shot with the BLX (17.5mm) compared to the Ncode (17mm). Your swing slows down a tad with the BLX because of the beam width and I don't like that at all.

With the weight being what it is a thinner beam makes the racquet more nimble and this is why I stayed with the Ncode 6.1.

Anyone else with comments, as I haven't seen any discussions regarding the beam width.

Cheers.

Beam width makes as much difference as head size. For a 1HBH and an overall game like Fed's that relies on agility and mobility, I don't expect much of a change with this new frame.

I could see 93'' with the 17-17.5 beams but anything more really changes the precision of the shots., esp. on serves. At least that's the way it feels to me, someone who's always played with a 90 or less frame. The larger frames with wider beams, even 19'' or 20'' mm, makes the frame feel very differently.

To me, the main change should be in the power of the stick itself. New materials that give him more power with the same weight and size would be ideal. He needs to be able to dish out more pace off the BH more than anything, as well as absorb it on BH returns. That's how/why Tsonga, Djoker, Nadal, Berdych etc have been beating him.

The BLX is ok but the feel is a little flimsy, not solid and strong.

It's a fine line to walk but that's what engineers and material specialist get paid to do.

wow lots of discussion going. i hope he goes to 95. since hes doing it he might as well skip 93 and go all the way baby!

Look 2:03.. same old racket as ever..

Imo Federer doesn't need a bigger racket, what would he gain.. extra power and less control? Why would Federer need extra power and less control?

I dunno? Why does Djokovic need a 100 instead of the 93?

Um...because he hits the ball differently, uses different grips, uses a two-handed backhand, plays exclusively from the baseline, etc...........need I go on?

^Exactly. Different styles need different tools.

Bs...

He had a 93 and by your logic changing to a 95 and/or 100 wouldn't make a significant difference. The difference between a 100 and a 93 is much lesser than a 90 to 100. It's not gonna make him hit the ball better right?

Because it's Federer it can't possibly make him better or help him. right? that's your logic. 90 to 95 isn't significant. He doesn't have to use a 100.

Yet it's okay for djoko to change from 93 to 100? Yeah, right, gotcha.

Cause Wawrinka doesn't have a 1hb and Gasquet doesn't have a 1hb, whom both don't have the same skill as Federer, yet do might fine without a 90. Yeah. Gotcha.
