Hey guys, I have the 2013 Aero Pro Drive and I used it only with RPM Blast 1.30mm for 5 years. I want now to try Solinco Hyper G 1.30mm (16G). Does anyone tried both strings? What is the biggest difference between these?

Which tension should I try? I used always tension 25kg (55 lbs) on RPM Blast. I was thinking maybe drop 1kg to 24kg (53lbs)... Thanks a lot! :)

Well what are you looking to add to your game with a string change?

Rpm is a really overrated string, so trying other options sounds like a g9od idea.

I don't even know I was satisfied with it haha... just want to try something else and I was looking for some similar strings, I play with lot of spin, so Hyper G and for example Volkl Cyclone, Luxilon Savage should be similar or better? I also bought with Hyper G, Yonex Poly Pro Tour, but thinking to restring with that one dad's racket, he has Yonex racket.

Cyclone @ 53 was my choice for full poly and it's way better than RPM with the same spin potential.

Never used Hyper g, but it's rep on TT is much higher than blast.

RPM Blast feels good fresh. A couple hours later, it feels like dog crap. The window of acceptable playability is much better with Hyper G, IMO. Hyper G feels more dead throughout, though.

Tbh I played with the same RPM Blast for 7 months - approx 60 matches (120 hours) and I played with it very good, but I remember first 2-3 weeks the string was better when it was new. What does it mean that it feels dead?

Poly feels dead compared to syn guy or multi, hyper g feels stiffer and less lively compared to rpm blast when new, but doesn't change as much after the first few hours, like rpm.

To me, fresh RPM is lively and crisp. Hyper G is more muted feeling - especially when fresh. I can really swing out confidently with Hyper G. RPM quickly becomes a rocket launcher.

I only played with poly for last 8 years, so I don't know how does it play with other materials

Probably I'm not so sensitive to older string. I'm a lot sensitive to overgrip, I need a new one for every match, sometimes even 2 for one match. Some of my friends use the same overgrip for 3 months and they are fine with it

Okay I'll see.. no problem with arm now though

Less wear and tear on the arm is just a bonus. Great success with this string with the upper level juniors, collegiate players and pro tour. Solinco Tour Bite as well, just a bit stiffer.

No problem with your arm yet.

Keep playing with stiff poly for months on end and it’s inevitable
Nadal had to w/d from the FO at 31 with these strings!

We are just trying to help you.

I am sure you are under 31 and don't get to change racket every set like Nadal does.

Yeah I know, I'm just saying that I don't have issue now, and will try Hyper G and go from there, sure I want to keep playing pain free as long as possible :) thanks

I've switched from RPM Blast 16 (1.3mm) to Hyper-G 17 (1.2mm) in a Babolat Pure Drive & AeroPro Drive.
I love the Hyper G! Give it a shot in a thinner gauge if you don't snap them too quick.

I bought already 1.30mm so i'll use that and then see.. thanks for answer.. which tension did you use with RPM and which are you using now with Hyper G? What is the biggest difference for you?

Hyper G is softer and more spinny if you can believe that. I personally liked Hyper G more just cause it was easier on my arm. but RPM blast seem more powerful of the two. I used Hyper G at 50 or 51 lbs and seem to work great.

I have enough power when I swing so I don't have problem with that.. at 50lbs the ball has to fly like crazy haha

for some reason, polys gain control with lower tension due to ball pocketing effect. and spin is better so better control there as well. you can do 53-55 lbs but it seem to play very dead at 55 lbs and harsh

I used to be set on 1.30mm in my 16x19 racquet for more 'control' but the club only had Hyper-G 17 1.20mm.
I actually find more control and spin with the Hyper-G 17 1.20mm at 53lbs than the RPM Blast. Same tension as RPM Blast 16 so technically I should have strung the Hyper-G way tighter but I wanted to change one thing at a time.
RPM is nice for 3-4h, then the stringbed launch angle changes so much that I cannot adjust to it.
With Hyper-G everything just seems to go deep and stay in... it feels livelier, softer and the launch angle just works for my strokes.
I get a good 15h out of the Hyper-G and the tension drop is on par with Luxilon 4G Soft.
The funny thing is 'in the lab' on paper they both have almost identical specs however side by side in my racquets they feel night and day. Could be due to 4G's 1.25mm gauge vs. Hyper'G 1.20mm gauge but I feel it's more than just that.

I'm curious about it now and will report how is it working for me.. I bought only 1 packet 12 meters, I don't buy reels yet

So I restring it yesterday at 55lbs (25kg) and played today with it. I also added tungsten tape to 3 and 9 o'clock each side 3g and 3g inside the throat, so 9g total. But I played after 5.5 months for the first time today, so it's hard to remember how was RPM blast when it was new. But so far it seems okay.. Will see later how it will go

So I had 2 more hours of playing and practice with another opponent and the Hyper G seems fine, I removed the tungsten tape just so I can have better understanding of the string.

hi gato

i found that RPM blast was a bit softer than HyperG

i used RPM 17gauge in my Blx blades, but when i went to the Hyper G
in the blades, i thought that i got a lot more pop and feel. now i use the PS97
and both the racquet and stringbed seem a lot stiffer.
i typically string the hyperG at 50-52
i forgot what i used to string the RPM blast at, but i thought it was around 54#

i would say, start at 52# and go up or down depending upon how it plays for you
hope that it helps

So I played together 5 hours with Hyper G 1.30mm stringed tension was 55lbs, now it's a little less of course. It seems fine but I need more time to adjust to all strokes probably.

RPM is the better string if you are changing strings or racquets every match. If you are a stringing a racquet for an important match, I'd go with RPM. If you want to play with the racquet for a week or 2, go with the Hyper G.

I use Hyper G 1.25 as my everyday poly. It's good in many ways but it's the best at anything. it's like the journeyman of strings.

I played with RPM for 6-7 months :D and I won 23 matches and lost 6 matches and I was quite satisfied with it. But now I want to restring my racket at least every 5-6 weeks, I play 1-2 times per week (2 hrs per match) so not that often. Some weeks 3 times per week that is a max. Which other strings did you like similar to Hyper G? What abou Tour Bite?

Not saying this necessarily applies to you, but IMO I think most people just use Hyper G because of the color. I've tried it in the past and don't remember liking it... felt very plasticy to me. I have been using tour bite and love it so far, grip and bite are unbelievable (I use 19g). May be my new string of choice...

You should try HyperG again but at 50# tension. You may experience better control and possibly more comfort.

Funny, I get high launch angle with hyper G(17g) and more depth yet a softer feel (less harsh) than the RPM. It has been my go to string now that outdoors, though I have more control and like rpm indoors (RPM 18g)- both strung at 52 in a 2014 PureStrike 18x20.

FYI I find TourBite to be in the middle, though I think it looses its edges/bite quickly and breaks faster than Hyper G.

Actually I like black color more, don't really like green color. My ADP GT is black/yellow and it doesn't really match. Why so thin 19g? Did you try RPM Blast? When I watch comparision for string for example video from TW, I don't really understand what is muted feel etc what is crips feel. Probably I just need to try to play with the string. And again every racket will represent the same string differently right?

I'm thinking to try something else than Hyper G, I think I don't have that good control with it. But again, this might be just a period where I adapt to the string...

I'm hitting back fence with 55 tension :D
That's the weird thing with poly. It does not necessarily follow the string up in tension for control and string down in tension for power. With some polies, at certain tension ranges, it's the other way around.

My son plays with HyperG 18 @ 49/48 in his Pure Strike 98. That set up has NO power for me. I have to take full cuts on the ball to even make it to the opposite baseline. But it sure dips like mad when I do.

Only department that RPM blast is better in is Power. RPM blast has significant more power than Hyper G. But in every other department Hyper G is better, More spin, More control, slightly better feel.

I use 19g because I'm not a string breaker and enjoy the benefits of thinner gauges (spin, reduced SW, feel etc.). I used RPM Blast for 3 years or so but have been experimenting with thinner gauges. May switch back again, but I'm not settling until I've tested everything.
