If Fed doesn't make the Wimbledon final...

He is out of the top 4.

Take a look at the 5 week rankings: http://live-tennis.eu/forecast_atp_ranking

The rightmost column shows the current ranking points minus Wimbledon and the grass warmup events. Without these points he has 5505. If he wins Halle and loses in Wimbledon SFs, he would have 6475 pts (5505 + 250 + 720).

This is behind both Ferrer and Nadal, who have 6860 and 6850 pts respectively, once their grass points have been taken off. This means if they both lost in the first round, they'd still be ranked above Fed, if he fails to reach the final.

What's worse, he is defending 1000 points at Cincy and 450 olympics (which he will automatically lose). After that is the US Open.

So if he doesn't make the Wimbledon final, he is guaranteed to be seeded 5 or lower for the US Open. This would his lowest slam seeding since AO 2003.

What if Murray has a bad Wimbledon ? Will that help ? He didnt play Toronto last year and went out early at Cincy though.

Wow absurd....the only upside is he won't have to face Tsonga or Berdych in QF....he can draw Murray or Ferrer in QF of slams....it would do good.

I don't get that site. They think Federer and Nadal are basically going to lose first round of Wimbledon?

Actually that can't be how it works, everyone's points are dropping according to that site. Seems weird.

I dont think it matters anymore if Fed is in top 4 or top 8.

I think he has a better chance over Novak ,Murray and Ferrer than Tsonga and Berdych. He can also avoid Delpo.

I believe the 5 week rankings just show what a player's points would be if they won zero points over the 5 week period. It basically shows the points from last year's tournaments dropping off. So the players can gain points during that period if they're playing a tournament.

I think it's dropping all points from the previous year. It doesn't take into account (yet) the results of winning matches at Halle/Queens, etc. It will be revised weekly for the next 5 weeks. It just gives an idea of what deficit each player has to overcome in the near future.

Novak- definitely not.
Murray- maybe, but iffy at this point.
Ferrer- yeah I agree there.

Del Potro right now is the least dangerous to him of all those players, except maybe his pigeon Ferrer.

hmmmm  Federer could be world no 5 rank after wimbledon, below ferrrer ?..eeee by gumm.

Not just 'could be', but 'is likely to be'. He has to reach the final, and that's assuming Ferrer/Nadal lose early. If they go deep, Fed may need to win.

With his recent form, that makes it look challenging. I hope he wins both Halle and Wimbledon, to restore some confidence.

Given his current form I dont expect him to go beyond SF for either Halle/Wimby. The end is nigh :( I hope he proves me wrong, but the probability is minimal..

Yeah, feelings mutual. I even worry whether his QF streak may come to an end in Wimbledon. It was in Wimbledon 2004 that he started his QF streak.

TBH, I don't really think that "record" is worth worrying about. It really is about Slams won, maybe successive finals, beyond that the feat matters only to ardent fans.
