If i like Yonex PTP, what else would be worth a try?

currently using VS mains, with ptp 125 crosses.
i like how the ptp reduces the power from the gut.

was thinking about trying lux 4g or 4g soft?
also gosen poly has me curious as well...

My only experience with PTP was in the 1.15 gauge during the Tennis Warehouse playtest. With it being that thin, the string was pretty soft but still had enough firmness for good control, and had pretty good grip on the ball for being round. Equivalent strings might be something like Proline Evolution or Diadem Flash.

I like ALU rough with gut mains. I just installed Head Lynx Tour with gut mains in my DR98, but haven’t hit with it yet.

4G soft works great. But it's a bit expensive.
I also like the Rpm Blast rough. Bit expensive as well.
I really like Alu Power soft as a cross for a softer stringbed and great spin.

If you like it don’t switch. Unless you’re like the rest of us and sacrifice game progression for curiosity. Plus those luxilon strings aren’t worth the money for rec players.
In all fairness, Yonex jacked up the price of the strings... they're basically the same price as Luxilon strings.

My vote is try Solinco Tour Bite Soft. I've never really found any other string to play/feel quite like PTP.

Nothing wrong with trying something new, but if you’re playing well with a certain setup, the old adage “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” comes to mind.

I just switched from PTP to vs mains with max power 1.25 crosses and really liking it. Tension maintenance is much better and I also seem to be hitting sharper angles with this new setup.

wow, I hadn't looked at Yonex strings in a while and you're right. Poly Tour Spin is a great string but at that price just get something from Solinco.

If you like Yonex, my stringer recommended that I try Poly Tour Fire to hybrid with VS as he said that it is a nice, soft, round poly. But, he doubted that I would like it better than VS/ALU Power which is what I’m playing with now as he said that it is not as crisp-feeling.

Kerber uses PTF and gut hybrid

-wilson revolve was designed for snapback, might be worth a look; med. power poly
-tecnifibre.ice.code is a power poly, round, slick, worth a look; power poly
-tecnifiber.ruff.code is a textured ,(roundish) soft poly, med-high power poly
-gosen.polyquest ,(not sure if available anymore at TW) is a soft, round, slick poly that surprised me in comfort; power poly
-gosen.sidewinder is a textured (roundish) soft poly ; power poly

Any suggestions for low powered round poly?

-i though ashaway.monogut is pretty low powered imo
-wilson.revolve is MED to LOW power poly, now that i recall better
-why you want a low power poly?
-for what racquet?
-what tension you normally string at?
I don't need extra power from my strings, play with an Angell TC 100 which is already a powerful racquet.

I played Hyper G 1.30 high 40s and that was good; but prefer the predictability of a round poly. Currently have PT Strike @ 55/53. Love the predictability but still a little bit on the powerful side.

-i like y.ptp, but thats more of a med-lowish poly, power wise
-luxilon 4g is a hard string, but if you nail the tension for your raket and style, its worth every penny, good string
-based on 55/53 ^,, i would try lux. 4g at 51/49lbs, its that hard, but its a awsome consistent string
- you also have tecnifibre.red.code, another good durable one,
-i forget details, its been a while since ive tried it, but its a classic, john.isners goto string..

how can a profiled string such as tourbite feel the same as round poly?
I dont think i ve found yptp price nowere as high as alu but they have to pay Osaka so that explains...

It doesn’t feel the same. But it’s a different, but still-pleasant hitting experience.

PTP is $16 retail nowadays (currently on sale at TW for $12). Lux Big Banger is $16 as well.

Wow, I'm comparing the prices of Yonex strings on the TW and on a UK website where I typically buy strings. The prices are significantly more expensive in the US than in Europe.

Is it because of high import tariffs for Japanese goods or what?

Thanks for your recommendations. PTP is nice, but it lasts me 3, 4 hours tops. I've always been reluctant to try 4G and Pro Red Code due to their price points. 4G especially, since RPM @ 45/43 already gives my elbow fits. Might try Red Code - if its good, the price tag is still palatable.

Has anyone tried Poly Tour Spin G? Curious to know how that plays too.
