surely goat race back on as it seems to me people think a bridge of 4 won't be made up but if nad gets la decima (arguably goat material alone) its back to 3 and nadal has 5 years on his side.

Federe made a point of saying slam totals don't matter...that sounds to me like he feels nadal or Djokovic may surpass his total.

Had federer beat nadal at uso or FO where the court favoured nadal (FO) or was more neutral (uso) then I'd be minded to acknowledge federer as goat.

However on a surface heavily in federers favour when he had an extra day to prepare, the goat question remains unanswered.

We will know for sure when all are retired.

I think this forum has reached a point where the obsession of who the GOAT is and when the slam record will be broken has become too much. Apparently people really can't live without having an answer to who the Greatest of All Time is.

That's a bad assumption to think Nadal or even Djoko/Murray will play to the same age as Fed. No. Plain No.

Fed is an exception for longevity mainly because of his playing style. The other two can hardly get the serve returned when they reach 35.

You hope!!! I on the other hand assume they will be after federer record ..nadal only 6 a away from 20 majors.

If I were 30 I'd be thinking I had a shot if I were as good as he is.

People who say nadal and Djokovic won't play until they are 35 are eveidently hoping that is the case rather than believing

No, I don't hope the bad for them. And I'm not denying they are after Fed's record. But what the Djokodal fans need to understand and agree is that their players don't have the same luxury of taking their own time like Fed. Sure they're good enough; Sure they have the wish to touch 18. But if they want to do it, they have to do it now - the next 2 years or so. If fans like you think as long as Djokodal is alive they're contenders for the slam they enter, that's where you guys go wrong.
