if only wii tennis was harder...

yes im sure we all got one nintendo wii somewhere in our living room and yea its at the stage where im jus playn the same difficulty over and over...but i sometimes still lose when im on a bad day.Pretty nice game apart from the fact you can move the people to where you want.Sometimes i see a ball that i would in real life move for an inside out forehand so im preparing for a forehand but the character just stays in the same position and my shot goes wacko lol

end of rant

I was just playing my wiisports-that-I-never-touched-for-over-6-months-ago yesterday, and I really don't understand why they couldn't just let you use the nunchuk to control your player. Like the OP, all attempts at inside-out shots fail. At least I discovered how to consistently slice.... =| That's partially realistic.

I got bored of wii tennis after like 10 minutes of playing. Try Topspin 3, I played that and it was very difficult. I'm not a video game player but clearly its alot more complex than wii tennis.

i only played topspin 3 on the DS and it was too slow for my taste. Its fun for a while but its lacks the intensity of virtua tennis 3

Dude, beating Pro computers is suuuuch a pain. They are the ultimate pushers. The best. Can't touch em...

I would suggest getting a friend, popping yourselves to near Pro Level, and then going against Pro computers in doubles. It can be very difficult to beat them.

If they made it too hard kids wouldn't like it.

Topspin 3 is much harder, but I got bored of it pretty quickly. I rather play real tennis:) or if I am going to play a video game a FPS instead.

I've never played Topspin 3, but I have a lot of experience with wii tennis... When you get to play the computers that are level 2000, then it gets to be sort of hard...Not everyone can beat a level 2000 in wii tennis. I am going to get topspin 3 at some point

I never could figure out how to consistently slice the ball on that game.

1. Swing slowly, low to high
2. Open the racquet face.. er, wiimoteface as you swing. Slowly.
Do either part too fast at it either goes out or doesn't slice and goes flat. :)

It's as though you wanted to feed a high floater right to the net player in real life...

wii tennis thoroughly messed me up! i couldn't figured out where all the topspin was coming from! i wouldn't call myself a topspin monkey but everything i hit had monster topspin!!!! and my shoulder was killing me after i was done!!!!!

the worst thing about it was that it took forever for the ball to get there and it really screwed up my timely which can be a little suspect! i would do my shoulder turn right after the other person hit the ball and it was like wait......wait........wait...........................................................................................wait.....................okay swing!!!!

nuts man!

kudos to whoever figured out to hit slice. i was trying to throw different spin serves (slice, kicker) and i just couldn't get it.

two big thumbs down!!!!!

Another problem that I see with the Wii tennis is that once you reach the >1900 level (I'm around 1965 now), you actually LOSE rating points even when you WIN the match! The last match I played, I won 3 games to 1 (best of 5) and I lost 5 rating points, even though all the games that I won I only lost like 3 points total and the game I lost went to deuce.

The funny part is that once your rating gets pretty high (1800 or so), the "progress line" for the rating graph actually goes off the top of the chart.

But as I said, if you can't even afford to lose one game (which can happen quickly if the computer netman starts picking off your shots and dropping them into the open court) without losing rating points, then things get boring.

^^^^^huh????

cmon, no one loses points for winning????? that is messed up!!!!

what the game should to is once you max out the scale or whatever, they should make you g.o.a.t. or something!

Yup, lost 5 points for "only" winning 3 games to 1. Incredible.

However, I just played another best-of-5 match (against a 2000 and 1900 computer team) and won 3 games to 0, and I only lost 3 total points (one point on my serve and two points on their serve). My score went up +41, so now I'm at a 2006 rating.

I guess if I could win by not losing any points I could probably go up fairly high. But as I said, aside from trying to achieve Perfection, there really aren't any other reasons to keep playing.

i played wii tennis when the wii first came out and got to the level that you speak of. i discovered that losing a game would weigh heavily on your score, and going to deuce doesn't help you either. so you can't lose more than 2 points per game.

and i agree with whoever said the nunchuck should be used to move the players around, rather than having them being lockdown by the computer. would make it A LOT more fun.

Why all the hate for Wii tennis? It's just a fun little game from a suite of 5 sports games. Play more normal tennis!

This looks a little more promising.
I can't read Japanese, but it appears to be coming out in 2009.

Mario Tennis

Oh, awesome. I personally loved the GC version of Mario Tennis, can't wait for this. Hopefully uh.. you get to move using the nunchuk this time.

Kinda weird though how they didn't do anything at all to the game besides add wii controls. Even the soundtrack is the same apparently.
