If you could go back, what year would you choose?

I realize we are all different ages, but if you could pick a year to go back and re-live from your life, what year would it be and why?

For me, it would be 1985.

There were so many good movies that year, like Back to the Future, Rocky IV, Commando, Rambo 2, Weird Science, The Goonies, etc. I contend that 1985 was the best year ever as far as pop-culture goes and Stranger Things only helps make that point. Fashion was pretty cool, with shows like Miami Vice leading the way. People were getting online with modems, dialing into BBS systems downloading jpgs over xmodem at a lightning-fast 1200 bps and posting messages before the advent of email and forums. The Commodore 64 ruled the planet for home computing. There was no social media ruining everything and the world was a much smaller place. Malls were a place to hang out with friends, visiting arcades and the food court, spending all of your lawn mowing money.

One of the biggest shocks was Coke changing their formula, a far cry from what we have experienced in 2020. Michael Jordan was NBA rookie of the year.

Agree. 1985, not too shabby.

I love corny 80s action movies. By far my favorite movies to watch

2012 was a good year. I’d go back there happily

I think he was already warned, but ignored the advice. But, in any event, the warnings were about demonstrations and the like.

1963.
Thursday November 21, 1963 in particular.
I would have called Jack to warn him to stay away from Dallas the next day if he valued his life.

2006.

It was my last year of being single (25) and I really enjoyed it with a few amazing women.

But there's a lot of things I would do over. My precious and rare car got stolen that year because I didn't park in my usual place. And I made some really bad decisions w/$.

Not sure if I want to put a specific year on it as every year has its pros and cons, but I do think the 80’s was a good time. Here’s a good concert in the 80’s if you have the time to watch;
These guys played great music and enjoyed their jobs as musicians. GE Smith is a fantastic guitar player.

Philly Sound.. Nice homage to their citys originals

1972. Age 14. I did an absolute 360-degree turnaround in my personality, my ambition completely left me, everything I could possibly do wrong, I did. And thus started a lot of changes, indeed a changed life, for sure.

I’d go back to about the mid to late 2000’s. The 80’s would be interesting, but I would take the internet over Arpanet.

Being a dinosaur nerd, I'd like to go back to one of the years during the Cretaceous period.

Can't really pick a single year. Back when I was a child or a teenager though and played all the classic SNES and N64 games. Played and watched Pokemon (and Digimon) after supper and then DBZ at night. Back when the HP books were coming out new, and I was a much bigger wrestling fan than I am now.

And yes I am a massive nerd and proud of it.

Couldn't agree more. Who wouldn't wanna go back and have their mom making an epic dinner, and it be a weekend and you're just playing video games?

Yeah, really not a care in the world. Running around at night playing spotlight or some other game.

Truthfully, I just broke out the SNES this past weekend and finished DKC 3 in 2 hr 50 mins. I think it might be my best time ever so I haven't lost anything yet. :D

I want a N64 so bad so I can delve into Mario 64/Pokemon Stadium/Diddy Kong/Mario Kart whenever I want

Im so mad lol. I want one BAD

LOL. Really though, I want to go back to when I got legit excited for things happening for the first time. The shock and awe I felt when Goku turned SSJ against Freiza. I'd say you have no idea how excited I was, but you probably do haha. Or finding a secret in a video game that you looked for for days and calling all your friends. Them being as excited as you were. Getting a brand new HP book as soon as it came out and reading it in like a day, even if it was 700 pages lol.

Back to when John Cena was a rapper and you weren't laughed at for liking him, quite the opposite actually.

Yeah in some ways I think humanity has peaked lol. I don't think being a kid will ever be as fun as it was pre-cell phone/internet days.
So many epic things I wish I could experience for the first time again. Def those DB moments.... Iconic. Reading the HP books, epic Peak WWE moments :p There is truly nothing like watching the Namek saga for the first time.
