no because his tennis is fun to watch...not like the williams sister's breif domination of the women's game on brute manly power.....plus Roger now has a huge rival in Rafael Nadal...which makes roger even more exciting to watch!!!!!!!!

No, he is the most talented and varied shotmaker in the game. Nothing is boring about that. Better than some of the tedious 2hb baseliners going around. Now that's boring!

Fed is fun to watch. its not his fault only a select few are good enough to stand a chance against him. The other players need to work harder on building up on their strenghts rather than trying to find a solution to try and beat him.

No because his all around game is spectacular and his one handed backhand shows that the best player in the world plays with a traditional backhand and finds a lot of success with it.

I find any dominance in tennis boring, but Federer's brand is the closest to enjoyable that I've ever seen. SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than the Sampras years. At least consecutive points are played differently and with variety now . . . .

It's all a moot point. Federer beat Nadal at Wimbledon, well guess what? That was one in five matches this year, Nadal won the other four. The point is, Federer is in fact NOT killing EVERYONE.

And it isn't just Nadal he's had trouble with this year. He barely survived Nicolas Almagro in Rome, he had an even closer shave with Olivier Rochus in Halle, not to mention all the other players who tested him that week. He only took three sets to beat Ivan Ljubicic in Miami, but don't forget that they were all in tiebreaks. David Nalbandian could very likely have taken Fed out at Roland Garros had he not been ill and had to withdraw.

Despite all appearances, Roger Federer does not always blow everyone completely away if their name isn't Rafael Nadal.

everyone BUT nadal...
federer basically torched the entire competition this year and left them with no hope...
drawing federer in a tourney ... ur best hope isnt even to beat him... its to just pray that he gets injured and retires...

Only 3 people in the last 2 years other than Nadal have beaten Federer. 1 match he was coming off injury and looked fatigued, 1 match was on clay, 1 match was 9-7 in the fifth against Safin The Great. That's how hard it is to beat him if you're name is not Nadal. The only guy more dominant than Fed was McEnroe in '84.

Ummmm.....Regardless of toughness of individual matches, Federer has yet to lose to anyone this year whose name is not Nadal. Federer gave Nadal a run for his money in the French Final, and took him to 5 sets and had two match points against him in Rome, those are heavily contested matches. He is fun to watch, and I root for him to win because he has a complete game with very few holes in it. No one plays perfect tennis, but he comes pretty close.

Federer is killing everyone except for speedy Rafael Nadal. Is it getting boring? No. Rogi is such a fun to watch with a repertoire easily a pro's envy. How can anyone be bored watching him? I wonder.

Years from now, no one will remember that Rochus had match points or that Almagro was giving Fed a hard time. All that matters is that Federer won. That's called dominance. You don't have to win 6-0 6-0 to be dominant.

Indeed he doesn't, but at the end of the day he has won those matches - and that's what counts.

Exactly. Also, the guy didn't lose a single set at wimbledon until the final. And he didn't lose any in the french until the semis, and then (obviously) the final. I would say that his performances of late have been all but unbeatable by anyone but nadal, and since he has beaten nadal recently, don't be suprised if fed quickly makes their head to head record more even.

None of that matters. He's winning the matchs, yes. But he's not KILLING EVERYONE not named Rafael Nadal. Thank you.

Oh please you know exactly what the original post and these other posts meant. If not then it pretty much means that Federer ISN'T LOSING to anyone not named Nadal, and even recently he beat Nadal efficiently at Wimbledon, thus, he is "killing everyone".

i cant believe everyone thinks nadal got whoped by fed at wimby...sure it was a four setter with a bagel...but if nadal had converted that game at 5-4 in the second....he would have been up two stes to 1....and the final 3 sets were very close ...

pretty mutch...well nalbandian does trouble him...kiefer always seems to take a tiebreak set of him,and hewitt and roddick have been known to push fed to his limitt..but other then nadal and nalbandian...fed pretty much knows he will win the match

I think of this the same way that i think of the French final. If Federer had managed to win that fourth set tiebreak, it would have been two sets all, and Fed would have had momentum going into the fifth set. Regardless of their head to head, their rivalry is a helluva lot closer than many people think.

In respect to every other pro, if your name is not Nadal, you might as well sit down now, as Fed's 60something-0 record against the ATP (except Nadal) kinda speaks for itself.

I'd like to point out the 2-0 record Dominik Hrbaty holds on Federer. It's not hopeless for other players.

not at all!! his tennis is so brilliant it is like a work of art. No-one has ever dominated people like he has. He's tennis's version of Mike Tyson in the 80's!! Virtually unbeatable!! It's fun to watch him and see how far he goes in his carreer.

its true...and chang its not that the field isnt stepping up thier game...it that fed (and i feel nadal) has stepped up his game soo much (in fact too much) that the fairly good field cant compete

When was the last time Hrbaty beat him though? It's been a while, and Fed has gotten a lot better since then. Don't bring up matches from a couple years ago and try to make them fly by today's Federer standards.

Nope, I'm not tired either.
I'd even want him to win each and every one of his matches next year and finish it 90-0, wouldn't that be something?
Honestly, IMO he deserves it.

Not at all.

Federer's presence is excellent for the game.

He is making everyone on the tour face the truth: "to win a grand slam, you must go through me" and it is forcing everyone to either work harder, get out of the way, or simply be fodder for Federer to consume

Domination such as Federer's can only be good for the game in the long run - as the standard will just raise overall...eventually. I can't wait to see if the current guys can raise themselves to that level, to see what Nadal can do on other surfaces when fit, and to see what new players will emerge as contentenders for the crown....

I'm not so sure; if his level is regarded out-of-this-world, others won't try to compete.
Some, like Roddick, obviously do try to raise their games;
but others may just give up and wait patiently for the time when Federer is not around.

If this is true, which I somewhat doubt, but if it is, I think anyone who doesn't try to compete simply deserves whatever is coming to them!

It runs in cycles. It happens every so often. Look back at the rumber of players that stayed at or near #1 and you'll see the same drubbing they gave everyone. It was sort of boring at times because it was never a true contest.
