Life moves on. I don't think there is anything shocking about Fed not being center stage anymore since he hasn't played Wimbledon in several years.
Do you think Fed's Wimbledon record entitles him to a staue in his honour?Fed's history and reputation at Wimbledon is set in stone for all time but the fact is he's not playing this year and attention is focussed on the renewed rivalry between Djokovic and Nadal and the Slam race. That's all.
He played it last year..Life moves on. I don't think there is anything shocking about Fed not being center stage anymore since he hasn't played Wimbledon in several years.

Why did he do that? Injury?Like when John McEnroe decided to stay away from Wimbledon in 1986 and 1987 and thought people would really notice. They didn't. They carried on just fine without him.
Well as he is not playing not really no.I just thought his name would have been brought up more
No, his personal choice. In January 1986, McEnroe was beaten at the Masters in New York by Brad Gilbert, the only time that McEnroe lost to Gilbert in his career. McEnroe responded by leaving tennis for months, and decided not to return for Wimbledon. The tournament carried on just fine without him. The following year, McEnroe again decided not to play Wimbledon, and again the tournament carried on just fine without him.Why did he do that? Injury?
What will be twice as weird are FO's after Nadal. They shouldn't even count lol
I suspect as time goes on, Federer will be known as the guy who Nadal toppled at his very peak in 2008 in the fading light. Or as one of two guys Nadal dominated on the biggest stage throughout their career. One of the big 3 but ultimately secondary attraction to the main event. The tour doesn't seem to miss him at all considering he's supposed to be the biggest universal box office player of all time.
Way too much common sense for this thread.Fed's history and reputation at Wimbledon is set in stone for all time but the fact is he's not playing this year and attention is focussed on the renewed rivalry between Djokovic and Nadal and the Slam race. That's all.
They should be saying viewing figures are down, ticket sales are down, advertising revenue is down, sale of merchandise is down and interest in tennis in general has plummeted. That's what they said would happen without Federer. He's not playing. What attention do you expect?
Federer won your attentions tho. They should be saying viewing figures are down, ticket sales are down, advertising revenue is down, sale of merchandise is down and interest in tennis in general has plummeted. That's what they said would happen without Federer.
You guys don't miss him.The tour doesn't seem to miss him at all considering he's supposed to be the biggest universal box office player of all time.
So, you are Fed devotee, too (not only a Djoko fanatic).
They both have beaten Fedr more times than he has beaten them. How did he make them up their game? It's the opposite. Some of the posting here is super childish crap.
Your favorite player just won the last two slams and is looking primed to be (most likely) cemented as the all-time GS leader if he wins Wimbledon. He's the leading GOAT candidate and could possibly accomplish the CYGS this year in his mid-30s. Crazy stuff.
No, this isn't enough. We need to crap on Federer's legacy and diss him even though he's one of the main rivals of Djokodal who made them up their game and produced numerous classic matches along with the other two.
Feels like he has been gone several years./
Several years as in just this year?
Yep.Feels like he has been gone several years.
Attendance at Wimbledon is markedly down from very recent past years. (Check it, it’s true).Life moves on. I don't think there is anything shocking about Fed not being center stage anymore since he hasn't played Wimbledon in several years.
The son of Rafael and María Francisca will continue his immortal legacy for several more years. What will be twice as weird are FO's after Nadal. They shouldn't even count lol
How do you know? The commentators don't mention him and they spoke to people queuing for tickets at Wimbledon and none of the ones they spoke to mentioned Federer. You guys don't miss him.
But a lot of other people do.
Federer is the new Sampras.Sampras hardly ever gets a mention, so I'm not surprised
Nobody mentions my grandfather since he died either, and he was king of the castle

It matters to Fed's fans.Federer won your attentions tho.
Does the rest of it matter?
You guys don't miss him.
But a lot of other people do.
Slam h2h since 2014:"throughout their career" lololol
Raf has been helpless against Djokovic and Federer off clay for 8 years.
Slam h2h since 2014:
Nadal Federer 2-2
Nadal Djokovic 3-4
Wouldn’t call 5-6 score as helpless lol. Career Nadal is ahead. 10-4 fed 11-7 Djokovic. Shows who the better big game player is.
can't wait...What will be twice as weird are FO's after Nadal.
You mean the people who are coming to Wimbledon? How do you know? The commentators don't mention him and they spoke to people queuing for tickets at Wimbledon and none of the ones they spoke to mentioned Federer.
Between 2014-2022 Nadal is 2-2 in slams vs Federer. Mickeymouse matches in doha and Beijing are irrelevant when comparing who is the better playerDidn't know the tour was only 4 tournaments
Also, I only count three Slam meetings between them since 2014. If you want to include the 2014 AO then it would be more accurate to say since 2013, or "since the beginning of 2014"
I think you delibrately ignored the viralI just thought his name would have been brought up more

feel free to cherry pick all you like, old fed was better than old fed in the h2h off clay sure.Well, I drew the line at post-2014 for a reason, because Nadal fell off a cliff vs Djok then too.
And I don't see Doha or Beijing in the list of matches in that time period. I see one 500 (Fed), three Slams (2-1 Fed), and four M1000s (all Fed).
