Why?Nadal.
He's playing very well, and with Fed being almost 38 losing is not a good look. Why?
Nadal.
Federer has the Slam and Wimbledon record. He's the underdog. This can only help his legacy, not hurt it.
Nadal is the favorite, and he's chasing the Slam record. Losing to 37y/o Fed on grass would significantly hurt his dominance of the rivalry and his Slam race position.
Nadal himself is 33 and this is Federer's most succesful Slam. Nadal recently defended his fortress at RG and now is Roger's turn to defend his fortress at WB. Plus, if Federer loses it would mean he does not lead the H2H over Nadal in any Slam. Both have the same amount of pression. He's playing very well, and with Fed being almost 38 losing is not a good look.
Fed basically has nothing to lose. He wins tomorrow he'll still be a huge underdog vs Djokovic. Nadal is 2 Slams behind, is in good form and needs to make hay while the sun shines.
Basically, Fed will have an excuse in the eyes of the masses, Nadal won't really.
'Most successful' is relative. Fedr has won Wimbledon less than 50% of the number of times he's played it - 8/20.Nadal himself is 33 and this is Federer's most successful Slam. Both have the same amount of pression.
Ah makes sense. He's playing very well, and with Fed being almost 38 losing is not a good look.

Exactly. And it wasn't an easy match for Nadal in RG even though he won in straight sets. So Federer should be the clear favorite in Wimbledon.Nadal himself is 33 and this is Federer's most succesful Slam. That's because Djokovic has avoided Kyrgios and Querrey over the years.Yeah, the only thing is, I don't see this as Federer's fortress anymore. It belongs to Djokovic IMO. Federer is the greatest Wimbledon champion of all time, but at near 38 he passed the keys onto Djokovic. Djokovic has won four of the last eight Wimbledons, and has a 4-2 H2H against Fedal here. It was clear in 2015, the torch was passed. This cannot be Federer's fortress when he is given an even less of a chance of beating Djokovic than he is beating Nadal.

Are we talking of Fedal or Fedovic? Wimbledon is not Nadal's fortress either so the point stands. Federer needs to defend his positive H2H at his best Slam, just like Nadal did at his best Slam.Yeah, the only thing is, I don't see this as Federer's fortress anymore. It belongs to Djokovic IMO. Look, last year, the SF between Rafa and Djoker hinged on one point in the 5th set. It could have gone either way and Djoko was so confident that he demanded the match being completed under the roof in the best weather Wimbledon has had.Doesn't say much about Fedal then, if they are 4-2 down against a guy who needs to avoid Kyrgios and Querrey to win Wimbledon...
Yes, at this stage of their careers Djokovic is the better player. But that doesn't change the fact that Federer is the greatest in Wimbledon, and in his matchup with Nadal he still should be the favorite here. Yes, he can't beat Djokovic in a slam anymore. But that's how it is, when you are long past your prime you have to pass the torch eventually.Yeah, the only thing is, I don't see this as Federer's fortress anymore. It belongs to Djokovic IMO. You're one of the Nadal fans on here that makes me really hope Federer wins tomorrow.Look, last year, the SF between Rafa and Djoker hinged on one point in the 5th set. But what does it have to do with Federer-Nadal matchup? Federer is still a better grass court player than Nadal, hence he is the favorite. This is my point.Doesn't matter, I don't see it as Federer's fortress anymore. This place belongs to Djokovic, if he is considered favorite over all of them and has recently won the most titles. People are confusing the greatest of all time with the current owner.

I don't think Nadal can get to Federer's record. After the great chances he missed it is a miracle that he even got that close to be honest. I stopped caring about this record long time ago.If Sunday evening either Bull is at 19 or Nole is at 16, 21 will be looking awfully achievable. There is a lot of pressure on Bull as it's true more excuses will be made for Roger especially due to his age, but at the end of the day, Roger is taking a stand for his slam record tomorrow.
I definitely get what you meanDoesn't matter, I don't see it as Federer's fortress anymore. This place belongs to Djokovic, if he is considered favorite over all of them and has recently won the most titles. People are confusing the greatest of all time with the current owner.
Just imagine if he wins. Nadal at 33 playing his worst surface, beating Djokovic and Federer. Proving that a tough draw or easy draw does not decide whether he wins. Tbh this victory should go down as the best run at a GS. Nadal is clearly though the 3rd favourite, no doubt.!I think Nadal probably feels he should've won Wimbledon last year, and it probably sits on his mind, almost as much as 2007 did, going into 2008s final.
He was determined that wasn't going to happen again, and I have belief that nothing will stop him this year.
To beat Federer, then Djokovic to get within 1 slam of the record is massive. He knows his chances are limited off of clay going forward.
The time to close the gap is now.
...The fact that Nadal hasn't won WB since 2010, the fact that Federer won it 2 years ago, the fact that grass is Federer's best surface while it's Nadal's worst...and the fact that losing to Nadal almost means no slam title for Federer in 2019 since he hasn't won the US for more than a decade, indicates that the pressure is on him.
I definitely get what you mean
Aside from Nadal and Federer, no male player has won a slam 8 times in the open era. According to you, everyone are mugs at all slams apart from Nadal at RG'Most successful' is relative. Fedr has won Wimbledon less than 50% of the number of times he's played it - 8/20.
Im sure they are both nervous af tbh. They're still human, I doubt either one will get much sleep today
Mirka is reading Roger The cat in the hat right now.
I would say 2014 when Fed serve botted and clutched his way to a 5 set match. He would have 9 titles by now if he took that.Yeah, the only thing is, I don't see this as Federer's fortress anymore.
