It’s official

Novak never would have left without being told that play was off. He could have gotten defaulted, which would have been a massive controversy and a huge misstep. Did he potentially throw a fit and encourage them to cancel? Perhaps, but that's his right, and it's up to the organizers to make their own decision.

All of that said, the first semi was a mess condition wise, and the parts of the second that were played were no better. One of these two is going to play QF/SF/F during four consecutive days, which is BS. This entire tournament is a mess.

play starting at noon tomorrow...wtf is this clown ****, if play starts at 11 all the time and the point is to give them rest for the final, why start one hour later?

It's so funny. Currently no rain, like an hour maximum left of daylight, it's just... really windy. No more so than it was when the matches were going on earlier, but they called this off how many hours ago? Pathetic stuff.

The fact that this was blowing up on Twitter and on here shows how the human brain works, or doesn't work in this instance. Why would Novak, a 15 time GS champ, walk off and risk being defaulted? So quick to jump on something to hate on Novak for without waiting for the facts.

To be fair, most people here were stating what news outlets were saying. Most people here actually did not believe this was true (look at the early responses), even the biggest Fed/Rafa fans were not buying it, including myself.

Barbara Shett should be fired. What things did she hear through her earpiece on live tv to make her say Novak walked off the grounds? This wasn't some Twitter bs, this was on live tv. That's some big false accusation and if I was a player in that situation I'd be pissed.

Currently no rain? It's 9 pm in Paris so how is that relevant?

The winner of this event has already been decided? Who cares about who;s gonna win the semi now?
Maybe the semifinalists believe they have a chance, a minimal one but still a chance? Pretty sure they would prefer to go one round further if nothing else.

No offense, but are the organizers dumb as f*ck?

How do they expect to get a quality final if Djoker will have to play 4 days in a row and a super fresh Nadal is awaiting in the final?
The job of organizers is not to assure a quality final but to assure tv ratings deals by making sure the Sunday deadline is accomplished, which it has

The tournament is f****d now. No need to play the final or finish the SF. Just hand Nadal the trophy and we all can move along. There really is no limit to how much the organizers can screw up this "Slam".

Let's be honest then, why did we ever care about this tournament then?
At least at the start perhaps there was still a glimmer of hope (I don't subscribe to this idea, but that's besides the point). After everything that has happened though, there is literally no doubt that Nadal will 100% win since Djokovic and Thiem have been screwed completely.

What news outlets? Sensationalized gossip sites? You had real journalists coming out and refuting this but they kept running their mouths. This is why sometimes it's best to just keep quiet.

What exactly did she say? Cause if she was reporting facts.. That he left the premises, that would be of interest to listening parties, even if incomplete.

And how was Nadal supposed to play Wimbledon 2007 final? You know, his schedule there was MUCH worse than anything Djokovic experienced here. Did you have the same opinion back then?

My question is how the heck do they not have lighting in 2019. Everyone of us could probably drive a few miles to rec tennis courts with lights. US Open play until 1 or 2 in the morning sometimes and all the others have retractable roofs now as well. It's pretty ridiculous.

I’m not saying Djokovic walked out. I have no idea. But this is something that will never really truly be settled. Because one could say the tournament are covering up for Djokovic. It’s a lose lose situation as soon as the rumour started. There’s not really anyway everyone will be satisfied with what happened.

It's just delaying the inevitable.

The beauty of a final is the unexpectedness. After all the recent screw-ups, all that is officially erased.

To put it in simpler terms: if before the tournament started, Nadal had a 90% chance of winning, right now he has a 100% chance.

I mean, we know the guy is invincible at RG anyway, do we really need his final opponent to be screwed as well on top of this?

So if Djokovic wins tomorrow this will be the third time he will play 5 days in a row in QF-SF-F of RG ,right?
2015,2016 and this year?

His scheduling luck at this tournament and Rome is so bad

But of course, they will make some epic trailer or preview before this final just to put more gas on the fire.

its silly though the FFT could speak up and sya after consultng with both players, this decision was made. people can debate whether they are covering or not, but between the inconsistent reports and journalists taking pictures of clear skies, its just not a good look. this isnt on djokovic though

For sure it's annoying that Nadal got boosted twice by the events in the top half of the draw. But there is always a chance. Hope dies last. :D
