Lotto shoes?

I'm looking to move away from my Asics Gel Solution Speed 3 shoes because of them not fitting my foot nearly as well as the 2nd version did. I thought about trying Adidas but haven't had much luck with their shoes in the past or trying another Asics but would like to move to a different brand just because I've been with Asics for a good while now.

I like the looks of the Lotto (and the fact that nobody around my area wears them...maybe for good reason?) and have read rave reviews about the Raptor - unfortunately it seems they don't make the Raptor any longer.

Does anyone wear (or have worn) a Lotto shoe that is still available at T-W? If so, what are your thoughts?

Is there a Lotto shoe that would give some support and comfort to my aging knees?

Thanks for any and all help.

Ain't life strange? I wore Lotto Raptors and loved them. Tried their new top of the line (I think the Stratos) and did not like them. What do I wear
now? Yonex Aerus Rush and Asics Speed 3 Au79. Love them, but I have a narrow foot. Would I buy any of the new Lotto's? NO, not unless they brought
back the Raptor.

Good Luck & Aloha

Strange indeed...I have a narrow foot (and flat too) as well and the Speed 3s are just a bit too narrow throughout. Another problem is the laces - very thin and rubs a place across the top of my foot (near the ankle, but on top) that makes a good size welt pop up.

Thanks for the input!

3B, I still wear Raptor 4s, but I stocked up when the Raptor Evos came out and I'll pick them up when they come up on the auction site. Wish Lotto would bring them back. If push came to shove, I'd try the new Stratosphere if they're improved over the first generation. I did like the Adidas Ubersonic oddly enough. Haven't tried the Ubersonic 2s yet though. I wear a size 8.5 or 9, medium width, low/mid arch.

Another fan of the old Raptor Ultra IV - I'm keeping two pairs that are mostly worn out for special occasions. They still feel superior for me when I put them on. I used to consider my foot type to be slightly narrow and also slightly flat, but I seem to go for a medium width now. Rumor has it that our feet get a little wider as they get older.

I haven't tried any of the newer Lottos yet, but I did spot a newer model at TW; the Raptor Leather Speed. It's listed as being slightly wide, but if it's anything close to the neighborhood of the old Raptor, I'll probably be happy with it, even if I need to wear two pairs of socks with them.

The other shoes I'm currently using are the Wilson Kaos Comp and the Adidas Barricade Classic Bounce (standard, not wide version). The Adidas shoes are as narrow as I can comfortably live with, but I likely won't get another pair. These aren't especially bad, but they're not in the same class of performance for me as my old Raptors and the construction overall isn't quite as substantial or solid. They're on the lighter side and hold my foot pretty well, but they offer what seems to be no better than average cushioning.

My Kaos Comps are also rather light and comfortable as bedroom slippers when I'm wearing them around, but these are also not terribly solid or substantial. Low to the ground design - check. I'll probably like them for teaching this summer when I'm feeding a lot, but these also give me no better than average overall support for my feet. They're probably ideal for somebody looking for a mildly wider lightweight shoe.

Since the old Raptors remain my all-time favorites, I'll probably sample something from Lotto's newer crop later this spring. I guess I have some faith in the potential for these folks to produce another really good shoe for me, but we'll see. The newer Stratosphere II is listed as being slightly narrow and offering decent cushioning, so that might be one for you to check out. If that Raptor Leather Speed is too wide for me, this newer Stratosphere will probably be next on my list.

The leather raptors were garbage something you would find at Walmart. So wide and cheap sent them right back. The Raptor to me was the best shoe but why did they
discontinue it I have no idea. The new Stratosphere is ok nothing great.

I wouldn't recommend Raptor Leather Speed either. Looks more like a private label product (not designed/made by Lotto itself). I have tried Stratosphere ii but not court yet. They just don't seem as high quality and solid as the Raptors. Like everyone else I am dumbfounded why Lotto discontinued what arguably was the best tennis shoe on the market. I like to joke that either Nike or Adidas paid them good money to take Raptors off the market :D

TripleB, If you don't want to try another Asics (gel res 7 is the natural choice), i would take a look at Head shoes if I were you. Nitro Pro (now Nzzzo) are more similar to Solution Speeds but they run narrow. Diadora Speed Stars are also high quality (kangaroo leather) and super comfortable and come with a 6-month warranty.

I don't quite understand your question-"Do your mean the Aerus Dash"? I wear the Aerus Dash for competition play. I wear the Asics Speed 3 Au79
for teaching and playing with students. Both of these shoes the Aerus Dash and the Speed 3 cause my foot to pronate too much. Therefore, I
use a different insole in both shoes that stops arch from collapsing. Of the two shoes, I personally find for my foot type the Asics Speed 3 Au79
to be the most comfortable for extended wear.

You can still find a few raptors if you look around on the Internet.
I just bought a pair from an auction site for $79.00 with free shipping.

I love my Lotto Raptor's. Now it looks like Lotto's aren't being sold any longer. Is Lotto not being carried any longer by TW or any other tennis retailer? The Lotto's are the only tennis shoe I really like and that actually feels good on my feet. The Raptor's feel great and I should have bought more pairs when they were available. I had another pair and sent them back because you know, " I'll just pick them up later when these wear out." What a BAD decision that was. Put that on that every growing list of my bad decisions over the years.

Believe me Lotto will be back and better than ever. They are all over the tour. I do not use only two pair because I am in them 16 hrs./day but I switch off from five pair-Stratosphere clay model. I have many more but they are for the future. I find them very shock absorbing and resistant to tears. My son uses them also but he alternates between 2 pair. I was lucky and got them when they were in the US. If I ran out I would buy from tennis warehouse - Europe. Also the very finest socks are from Lotto made in Turkey and Pakistan -very cushy and big. You will see this soon if the buyers for USA are really sophisticated, We can have different opinions of the shoes but they do last long and they come with 3 pair of laces. The 3 pair was my idea but they went up $5 to pay for them-oh well. They will be back-nature abhors a shortage of product.

I hope Lotto shoes comes back strong. I really like their shoes. I use a larger shoe size (14) so my choices are very limited. I keep checking TW's Lotto choices and sizes. They have not carried my shoe size in a very long time.

Still no new Lotto shoes out yet. They keep pushing the release date further and further back. It was supposed to be released in August. No new release dates as of yet, or so I am told. My old Lotto's are hurting my feet ( worn out) and I have tried three different other brands and I have hated each other brand.

You didn't like the Stratospheres?

One more vote for Raptor Ultra IVs (clay version, never used the speed) - glove-like fit, excellent comfort and top-notch traction.

On the durability front, they started to break down much early on (they're no Barricades) so began saving them for special occasions only :D

I have only tried the Vector VI and really loved them, perfect fit for me in every way except worn so premature like in 3 months and comfort goes. The new ones out I think are a step down in quality and different so I hope Lotto comes back cause I used to like em.

I agree. I tried a newer different Lotto style ( EVO Speed) on and I thought they were horrible. Nothing like the older version from back in 2013.

It was the EVO Speed style that I tried and did not like them. I sent them back. I did not try the Stratosphere because for one- I was disenchanted with the EVO Speed version two- they did not have my size listed - size 14 men's. So many of these shoe companies do not have anything bigger than a 13, at most.

I had my first session with the first version of the Stratospheres today. As far as my Lotto history goes, I only played the Raptor 4, as the Raptor Evo was too expensive for my budget. To keep it simple, for someone like me who is hard on his shoes and tends to slide on hard, the uppers could be stiffer/more supportive. They're really soft and flexible, and I feel that it's more than likely that I'll dig through the medial side of the shoe before the outsole; outsole which offers great traction. Now the funny thing is that I also have the second/current version of the Stratospheres, which apparently do offer a more supportive upper.

Thank you for your detailed shoe review. It is odd that two EVO shoes feel differently. I really , really liked my Raptor IV's. I wish they still made them.

I had raptor 4s and they were great. The upper was a synthetic leather so they didn’t breathe super well but traction was great and they wore well for a long time. I also have a pair of quaranta 4 that I string in. Full Eva outsole is a miracle for long hours on the machine. They quit making those as well. I haven’t tried anything else from them. I got a few pairs of vapor tours on sale and have been trying to make my way through my outsole warranty pairs from other companies. I still have a new pair of gel res 4s and propulse 3s from outsole warranties.

I've just thrown the Stratospheres. I've just put an hole in the outsole. It's a small hole, but considering there's no warranty in Europe, I have no incentive to make that hole any bigger. My opinion remains largely unchanged: good comfort but lacks support and stability; as expected of a somewhat and relatively lighter shoe. The very soft upper was what annoyed me the most on stops and sudden direction changes. The durability and traction are pretty good considering it's supposed to be a fast feeling shoe, that I'm a slider and quite hard on my shoes.
As I mentioned before I also have a pair of the Stratosphere 2, so they're next. This update supposedly adds a stiffer and tougher upper which could help with support and stability. The upper does have more and thicker plastic, so we'll see how they fare on court.

EDIT: I don't know if I or anyone mentioned it, but the Stratosphere 2 not only come with two extra pairs of laces, but also with an extra pair of outsole, giving you two fits: there's a thin pair of Ortholite outsoles and a thicker one. I'm never going to use either since I have custom orthotics, but I appreciate the intention nonetheless.

My first pair of lottos was 30 years ago, and they were made of **** and cardboard. gack.

Now my serious tennis shoes are the raptor 4s; and I grabbed a second pair for the future. nice shoe.

All told, it must be nice to be in a financial and knowledge position, to take an old brand and kick up its level a few stages.

Do you guys know where I can get more LOTTO T-shirts ??? they seem to always release very limited amount of these T-shirts and they seem to sell out very quiclkly. LOTTO company in Italy doesn't seem to sell direct to consumers

I'll also note that I've just noticed that my pair of Stratosphere 2 feels half-size bigger than the previous version. It is longer at the very least. The shape of the shoe remains similar however.

I wish some of their clothing was available here in the USA. I really like the one pair I had. I tried to make them last as long as I could until I started getting foot pain from them being worn out.

After playing thrice with the Stratosphere 2, I haven't had to complain about stability. There was a slight break-in period but nothing major. I'm only a bit annoyed by the bigger (especially longer) fit compared to the previous model and the Raptor 4. Otherwise it performs very similarly to the previous model, and I'm fine with that.

This explains the sales on the Lotto shoes recently. This is the Stratosphere III/3.
