Morotoglu, The Coach, does he know what he's talking about ?

I was bit surprised by compilation of tips and his style of instructions. Contents in itself is something most of us advanced players know , but some new tips as well. But what surprised me the most was how he's able to translate the message to his students in a way they can understand every single time. He keeps the content simple on purpose but delivers multiple messages on separate occasions. Stupid american coaches can really learn from this man............ then maybe america will produce some good player in the tour.

No doubt he’s well-organised, a good analyst and a clear communicator. That’s great in providing juniors and sub-elite players with an environment to improve their stroke mechanics and general level. That’s actually his job and it appears he’s quite good at it.

I’m not here to blow holes in the guy because, as you say, he’s closer to the solutions than a lot of American-style coaches focused on producing serve+1’ers. But there’s more to producing top players than what Pat offers. And he hasn’t actually produced any of those players. There’s a psychological element to producing the problem-solving, tactical flexibility and absolutely bottomless pit of self-belief to convert top-20 talents to become top players that intimidate the tour and win consistently. It doesn’t look like Pat has that skill, and that’s putting it very mildly, given Serena’s problems facing the final hurdles.

No way in hell I’d let him near the control panel of a player like Med. Med has hauled himself to #2 in the rankings by talent, IQ and sheer force of will, all with technique and movement that can best be described as unlikely. Med either maxes out what he has now, with a psychological-observer type like Gilles or goes into the wilderness for a season or two, does a full technique rebuild with a guy like Patrick, assisted by a psyche-rebuild by Gilles or other, then comes back a different player.

Agree with all of this. An excellent coach. The only problem I have with PM are his occasional comments to the media about his own players that have backfired by creating more pressure for players he is coaching.

The best example I can think of are the times he has discussed Serena chasing the major record that ended up heaping a lot of additional unnecessary pressure on her.

100% - a lot of what he does when you see him working with players is just really solid, good advice to drill in the fundamentals, and admittedly some pretty decent ideas on set-plays and court position that make good players at the very least think about what they're doing. He's the ultimate expression of 'not going to make it worse', which is closer than most.

I think he created and helped CoCo. She is about to become a superstar. She looks like she will explode either this year or next year and win 3 majors in a row. That will be a fact, mark my words

If Med received a full technique rebuild from Patrick we would barely see the guy in the top 50 again

A lot of you will disagree but I think the effect of coaching in general is overstated.
The talented players basically teach themselves. The fact that they happened to get good while attending a facility like this full-time makes it look like the coach did it, but it's coincidence.
Before somebody says 'ah but tennis is really technical, you can't teach yourself', there's plenty of very technical activities where people teach themselves to highest level. Guitar and skateboarding just as two examples I can think of.

I agree. I think coaches can be very important but for the most part they are replaceable for most players.

He strikes me as a good salesman with a lot of money behind him.

As far as coaching goes I haven’t seen anything particularly insightful from him, and I don’t think he is particularly accomplished. His achievements ‘coaching’ Serena were largely because he was coaching one of the greatest players ever right at her peak and in a weak era

One could argue that he started to coach Serena when many thought she was past her peak and he got her to a new one.

Hahahah. You are just like your profile name, throw out a lot of insane predictions over and over about everything and maybe one or two will come close.
Bravo
With this one though, you may be right, although I think your timeline may me alittle too optimistic. Time will tell

This is absolutely not true. Patrick brought Serena back from the brink; she had gone totally off the reservation and had no direction.

Reading between the lines she needed a father/coach figure and that is exactly what Patrick was. It's a little unseemly because they were obviously romantically involved, but there's no denying that he triggered her late-career resurgence.

Do you think she was calling him Daddy?

I don't care what anyone says, this is intimacy, and for all her 'fire' on the court she is obviously a submissive partner who needs a stable romantic influence to be at her best.

Yea,, they were lovers at one point... It is very very strange though. She decides to marry another man and yet he sticks around........... maybe he just had to NO choice cause he needed Serena desperately to keep his image of his academy,, that he actually has someone that is good

Or they really love each other that much and are still lovers behind the scenes, her husband is rumored to be...not into women.

Celebs lead complicated lives. Even normal people are weird.

It would be a good start in order to criticize him, to spell his name correctly.
