Murray win makes me depressed!

As a person who has followed Murray's progress over the years and to now see him really flourish and have genuine hopes, you would think I would be happy.
However, I feel strangely deflated and depressed.
Whilst being initially elated at his magnificent effort against Nadal, I now just feel really sad and sorry for Nadal.
The terrible spiteful comments against Nadal are really upsetting.
The guy has just been beaten in the quarters of a slam. He has injured his knee in the process. He has lost with honour and dignity. He tried his utmost best.
His reward - hateful venom.
Murray is up in people's estimations all at the expense of Nadal.
All he has done is lose.
Can you give the guy a break. This hate is actually quite disturbing.

Face it Fed and Nadal arent going to be shoe in GS winners anymore. Cry all you want to. But the likes of Murray, Djokovic, Del Potro and Cilic are the new blue bloods.

I was depressed until I remembered the way Cilic embarrassed Murray at the U.S. Open. Come on, you big Croat!

Why is it embarrassing to lose? Have you never lost anything?
As long as you try your best there's no embarrassment.
Murray is already one of the best sportsmen Scotland and Britain has ever produced.
There is no embarrassment there.

I actually sort of like Murray now, he was very sportsmanlike, no random shouting, come-ons at appropriate places, aggressive play, and his post-match interview was quite low key. Thumbs up.

But yeah, I am glad to see that hate on Nadal thread earlier deleted. It was disturbing indeed, but I should have seen it coming, knowing how this forum was back last year...

A ton of the hate is because of all the Nadal fans writing off Roger over the last few years and trumpeting the fact that Nadal was so clearly superior.

The unfortunate series of events now is as follows:

1) Fed loses
2) 300 threads pop up about how Fed is done. The number is closer to 500 if he loses to someone outside the top 10.
3) Over the coming days, more threads pop up, most focusing on how Federer will not win another slam ever.

OR

1) Nadal loses
2) 300 threads pop up about how Nadal is terrible, how he hasn't won for months and how he'll never win again. If Nadal retires from a match, the number is 600 threads.
3) More and more talk about how Nadal is disgusting, and how he's on steroids and how he kills puppies.

It's a crappy situation, but it's what we've come to because of the Fed/Nadal ****s that either cannot or simply just refuse to get along.

Nice to see that an eye-for-an-eye and bringing the level of discourse down is the accepted modus operandi, instead of being the better man(/woman). Haven't almost all of those Nadal trolls been banned anyway? They're all shouting at fumes. Guess I can't expect much of an internet forum.

It's tough here...I come around a lot during the slams, but days like today can be enough to make me get lost again...

I'm a huge Fed fan, and I've rooted for him in all 20 matches they've played, but I still see how great of a player/competitor/person he is. Those that can't see it must be delusional. Federer is the GOAT even with his issues with Nadal, and Rafa has made the game that much more interesting and dynamic, something tennis has desperately needed since the new millennium.

Good observation, Nadal trolls have all been banned, just like gj, maximo, grafselesfan and 380pistol.

On the other hand, aphex, Magician, drakulie and other Fed trolls are still here.

Funny eh?

At least that troll's thread has been deleted... I agree, it was disgusting and out of control.

I have new found respect on Murray with those big serves!

Nadal's knee started bothering during the 2nd set. I think if he had been 100% the whole match, Murray would not have won the 2nd set, nor the match. I don't think Murray has what it takes to win this tournament. I don't think he ever will.

It happened towards the end of the 2nd set no? Both were playing good tennis at the time and Icould see Nadal coming back

nor the match.
I'm not sure about this. Andy was playing the best I've ever seen him play in a Slam. And I think he took the time to formulate a specific game plan against Rafa.

Though I will always, always salute Rafa's fighting spirit.

Federer is likely to stick around as a serious threat for at least another 3 years. Murray, Djokovic, et al, have not proven to be the slam-winning monster Federer has been over the years.

Nationalism kicking in here. I lost to a player I had a legitimate chance to beat 0 and 0. I was embarrassed. Murray lost to a player in a match that he was a high favorite to win. He lost 5, 2 and 2. Murray wasn't even trying in the last two sets. He should be embarrassed. I'm glad he put it behind him, but he's going to have a few repressed memories that he's going to have to look straight in the eye in the form of Cilic.
