Nadal fans should have no excuse if...

if Novak beats Nadal in the final. The 7 beatdowns that Djokovic inflicted upon Nadal in 2011-12 saw Nadal fans giving various excuses like no BH, WTA serve, a step slower, no passion, past his prime, looking miserable on court (you know who said that ).

Nadal is now playing arguably the best HC tennis of his life. Don't think I have seen him play much aggressive than this. Although I think its a 50-50 in final and there is no clear favourite but assuming Djokovic wins against Nadal in the final, will Ralph fans admit that Djokovic has beaten peak Rafa?

Nahh.. Nadal was better playing better HC tennis at the AO in 2009 and USO in 2010 then he is at the USO this year

If they both reach the final and Djokovic wins, then he wins. Fair enough. I'm not going to be looking for excuses. If he wins it's because he played better.

He's playing brilliant tennis right now but if you think this is his absolute peak you're delusional.

And even if it was, you speak as if beating a guy during his peak means anything. Nalbandian and Safin beat Federer during his peak, clearly they must be better right?

You might have a small case for USO 2010 but we know who Nadal played during that tourney. His only hurdle was Djokovic 1.0 in final.

As for 2009, he played clay court tennis on HC at AO 2009. Djokovic 2011-2012 would have crushed him in straights or in 4 at max. He was faster I admit but he has much more rounded game now. His FH was so loopy and serve was weaker. Nadal's forehand is absolutely box office right now, backhand is good enough and serve is a lot better than AO 2009.

Rafa has figured out Joker 2.0 and now it's all 1 way traffic.

Did Nadal's HC peak last only 1 tournament i.e. USO 2010? Also Please dont tell me AO 2009 was his peak just because Nadal was a duracell battery that time.

Peak Rafa? What a troll you are.
I am talking to sane posters so won't even bother replying to you. Stick to your anti jinxing crap which you do 24x7 and spare us will ya? Thank you very much

Nice to see fans like you in Nadal camp :)

Is this because some people want to somehow definitively state that one of these players is superior to the other? Each has beaten the other. There will be a "reason" one of them loses if they meet in the final. Probably several reasons. But that is different from an excuse.

Either way, these are the top two players in men's tennis today and very little separates them if anything at all. There is no obvious match up issue between these two so to argue that one is definitely better than the other is foolish.

Now if you were to set up a hypothetical match in which both played their absolute best, you guys could argue until you're blue in the face as to who would emerge victorious but it would be pointless.

And if Djoker loses, we'll know 2011 was a mirage, losing 6 of his past 7 to Nadal. Djoker would also fall to .500 in slam finals, losing 4 of his past 5.

Nadal fans will have many excuses regardless of the outcome, the same way Nadal haters have excuses to diminish his accomplishments no matter how succesful he is.

This thread is the equivalent to the "If nadal wins the US Open Nadal haters should have no excuse to say he's a clay court specialist" The opinions of fanboys and haters are just boring and predictable, that's why it's enjoyable when you find someone who actually backs his statements with arguments and just loves the sport, not this or that player.
