I supported Federer purely because I'll rather Nadal finish as 2nd than take a coin toss between 1st/3rd. However as it turns out Djokovic winning actually makes it much more certain now that Nadal would finish in the top 2 but we didn't know that at the time.

I also felt going down 1-3 against Djokovic at Wimbledon would be rather brutal for Federer and not really a good representation of their grass matchup. It really hurts his legacy which as a tennis fan is sad to see. Djokovic wouldn't have been hurt by the loss anyway near as much.

Great question! I'm a Rafanatic. I wanted Fed to win. I knew it would be his last hurrah and I wanted him to have one last Wimby. I really grew to appreciate him more and more as he aged. Even *GULP* to the point where I liked him!

(Btw, I didn't hate on Novak at all. I wasn't rooting against Nole. Just for Fed.)

I didn't watch due to timezone issues, but was hoping Djokovic would win for a couple reasons.
1. Slam race
2. They would never shut up about it if Federer won
If he had won it would be 21-21-19 currently, with a chance for Rafa to lead 22-21-19. In hindsight, it may have been preferable for it to be like that, but reason 2 has me not regretting my choice to root that way (even though I know it doesn't make a difference who I choose to root for).

If Federer had won, that is true, the Federer fans would have pretended it ended the GOAT debate no matter what followed, for Federer to have won Wimbledon at that age by beating Nadalovic b2b on grass. So Djokovic actually saved tennis that day.

These threads are always fun. Quite a lot of varying outlooks. When it comes to Djokodal, I for one have been supporting whoever is already better on the surface (so Djokovic off clay and Nadal on clay), but honestly have no idea who I would support in their next match. Depends on where and when it happens and in what context.

Probably on clay again, where most of their matches have taken place since IW 2016.
