No, he continued the pattern of getting broken early in the first, then breaking back, and then breaking again to take the set against the one handed backhanders

Either Nadal likes to make things hard for himself or this is a new strategy implemented by Tio Toni to test Nadal's limits by allowing someone to break early in the game then naturally allowing Nadal's game and FH to click when he's backed into a corner.
