1973 Rosewall & Connors were in top 10 together and then Rosewall could never beat Connors from 1974 onwards
1988 Connors & Agassi were in top 10 together and then he could never beat Agassi.
2005 Nadal entered the top 10 and Agassi could never beat Nadal ever
Alcaraz entered the top 10 in April 2022 and since then he has not lost to Rafa

This means Rafa will have to defy historic era based trends to beat Alcaraz.

I hope Nadal is fit for RG and they clash this year. Next year it will be even tougher for Nadal to win, the weight of history might prove too heavy as he will be 38 next year

Didn't Alcazar lose to a mug last year?

Alcaraz has a big mouth but a small everything else. He's too weak to win a man's title like Roland Garros.

You realize Agassi retired only a year after Nadal reached the top 10, right?
Agassi was a broken down guy taking cortisone shots in his backside just to be able to get on the court.

Yes and that seems the situation with Rafa too, if he an recover and return to his imperious best for another 1-2 years then he will triump, Agassi was truly finished and he was never gonna beat Nadal anyway, Rafa was too young and too fast for him. That wimbledon was as 1 sided as a match could be.

Zverev ? He stretched Rafa last year before getting injured. He is no mug and this year Alcaraz is fav, so now the pressure is on the old guys.

Seems you don't watch tennis all that much outside of Nadal and Djokovic.
Zverev is no mug. He was incredible at RG last year. Nadal couldn't keep him off. 3 hours and only 2 sets in. They were in a war.

Actually I don't watch Nadal and Djokovic that much, anymore, either.

But thank you for refreshing my memory.

I would say that if an in-form "Beater" could take down Carlos. Then he doesn't have any chance against a fit-to-play Rafa at Roland Garros.

Carlos blitzed "Beater" a couple of weeks ago...so maybe things have changed.

Beating Alcaraz at Roland Garros is meaningless, he's only won ONE slam title, and even Tiafoe made him play 5 sets at the US Open.
Its a joke to suggest Alcaraz can beat Nadal at Roland Garros

Nadal's the greatest champion in the history of RG. Undefeated in RG finals. Not even taken to a 5th set in an RG final.
Probably no shame losing to Nadal there.

I would rather face Alcaraz than Djokovic there as a Nadal fan, Djokovic has beaten a wounded Nadal at Roland Garros twice so why not a third? Alcaraz is unproven.

That depends on if Nadal plays and what his health and physical conditioning is like.
Not sure why you're discrediting Alcaraz's accomplishments. Seems personal.

Fit Rafa surely beats him in the final, I have no doubt. If Nadal is in the final then it means he is in very good form and it is business as usual.

Let’s pretend the closed roof and extreme humidity didn’t create essential an oven inside the stadium. Conditions were incredibly slow and begging for someone to get injured. We’ll guess what, someone did get injured and it could’ve easily been a career ending injury at that.

Agreed. Don't they have air conditioning inside the stadium?

I think Rafa will fail to do it. This is poetic.

Sascha Zver's brother Mischa predicted that Sascha would win the 2022 FO, that's why Sascha tried very hard.

I won’t bet against a healthy Nadal at RG ever. And that’s despite how old and rusty he is right now. He has the first 2-3 rounds to scrape off 20% of the rust, which should get him within 5 levels of his peak.

Nadal 5 levels below his peak va this field is interesting. I don’t honestly know how to call that one. But I’ve learned not to bet against Nadal.

If Nadal plays, he will be seeded top 16 and something tells me that the organizers will want it to be an intergenerational duel in the fourth round.

If organizers want Alcaraz to win then they will ensure Alcaraz meets them both and preferably Nadal in 4R instead of Novak because if Nadal reaches the final then he is set to win, so would be easier to catch him in the 4R.
