Here's how:
1) a mutual agreement between the players that they won't play
2) the nadal enters the tournament at the last second
3) the highest ranked player in the draw after him will be Federico Arnaboldi (Berrettini 0.3) ranked 897th in the world who was in the middle of qualies at some futures tournament in napoli when he got a call from the uso that they need players to fill the draw asap
4) is gonna be very tough, no?
5) win

You must have massive respect for Federer's 2004-08 run then. Beating champions Agassi (x2), Hewitt (x2), Roddick (x2), Djokovic (x2) and Murray.

''Rafael Nadal set to skip US Open after confirming Madrid Masters appearance ... not to play at the US Open this year by confirming he will play at the Madrid Masters in September.''

You quoted media speculation (express.co.uk).

I would absolutely love to see Berrettini beat Federer at a Slam next year so he can finally shut up all the haters the way Anderson did.
Few moments in tennis were as gratifying as Anderson beating Fed in that epic, after all the mockery he was getting for the USO17 final performance.

Looking forward to the Arnaboldi Open.

Now I was wondering if Federico Arnaboldi was an actual player or just made up by the OP. Seems he does exist. Only 20 years old, would be funny if he made a big jump in the rankings and won some slams in the future.

The only issue is that Federer destroyed Berrettini at Wimbledon just a few weeks earlier without breaking a sweat, and this was when Berrettini had won a grass title and was supposedly on a roll.

Anderson beat an injured 37-year old Fed having a crapola season (post Rotterdam), never stopped me from crapping on Anderson. Federer will be 40 years old in 2021, what kind of an achievement is beating a grandpa.

even though baghdatis beat 3 top 10 players to get to the final and was a point away from going a set and 2 breaks up against fed in the final

but no he's baghdatis

who did berrettini beat? monfils?
