No one is talking about Zverev

Maybe if he had won a slam we might? I think it's hard to take them that seriously unless they have actually done the business.

I've been talking about Zverev! Clay is his best surface, he's beaten each Big-3 in winning a big title, and he'll be the better competitor in the final. I think his chances would be excellent against Nole (who typically plays poorly in RG finals, and who Zverev is 2-0 against in finals). His chances would definitely be greater against Rafa than Tsitsipas.

The match today will come down to how well Zverev is serving. He's lost his serve 7 times in his last three matches vs three unseeded players, compared with Tsitsipas who has the most efficient non-servebot hold game on clay this year and has been broken 4 times over the same period, vs the #31, #12 and #2 seeds. Add to the equation Tsitsipas' improved return numbers across the board (about 41.5% points won on clay this year, pre-RG it sat at about 37% vs top 10 but winning 40% of points on Medvedev's serve will have boosted that), and a strong serving performance from Sascha becomes even more essential if he wants to stand a chance.

i seen one of Zerevs post match pressers and he seemed........serious
He seems more focused after the PR disaster of late last year. He was the only opponent who actually looked like he could beat Djoker at AO, too.

He probably should be higher up in the rankings, but keeps underperforming in key moments. However, he'll be #4 if he beats Tsitsi today.

I hope I won't live to rue these words but unless Tsitsipas chokes, I can't see Zverev winning this match.
Zverev's draw has been amazingly easy so far.
Who was his hardest match?
Against a depleted Nishikori at night slot?
Against Fokina with a hurt back?

He absolutely can win, but I feel like Tsitsipas will prevail in this one.

his demeanor shocked me to be honest

Who knows with zverev? He is very hard to predict and know what to expect.

The next gen battle today will be intriguing. It’s hard to call. I have Tsitsipas the slight favourite but I really think it could go to the wire. It could come down to small details and who’s mentally tougher when it matters

yeah that women beater has been doing pretty good this tournament.
i think he is very confident this time, and he wants to show it to everyone by wearing that singlet.
but just like his muscles.. they are small which is also how his mental game usually is.. weak.

i said a lot of mean sounding stuff but i still said he was doing good this tournament.
i imagine he will stay competitive against the younger guys.

I genuinely think winner of 1st semi wins event especially if its a quick match. I have been saying Zverev but looking at results this clay court season tsitsipas looks primed.

Zverev is an extremely dangerous opponent. There are no favorites for the Stef-Z match. It’s anybody’s game.

That's why for me it is the most exciting potential semi. Even better I despise both of them have no horse in the race so can watch it and just enjoy the tennis, which admittedly they are quite good at!

I actually give him a pretty good chance, mainly based on the fact that Tsitsipas is a massive choker, and with his return he should get into the Greek's service games better than the case will be vice versa (assuming he serves well) but when it comes to his run I'm not convinced. Tsitsipas has played better players at basically every stage, with the 4th round maybe the exception.

I am sure PCB>> Nishikori currently. I mean PCB has been consistent in making second weeks in slams. Did it in USO2020, RG2020 and again in RG 2021.

I doubt it. Tsitsipas in Barcelona represented a tougher matchup for Nadal than Zverev in Rome. Not to mention, Tsitsipas (#1 in the race) is in better form than Zverev.

That's cool! I also despise both of them have no horse in the race! Looking forward to a well-fought match

(but not too well-fought, I want Djokodal to start in a timely fashion)

I can well imagine Tsitsy and Zverev going four hours and then the Djokodal match starting at 7:30 and going on with removal of crowd at 10:30, etc. The tension will be unreal.

Yeah, not sure why they didn't schedule today's matches to start at 1PM or something, they're shooting themselves in the foot IMO

but that's par for the course for Guy Forget and his acolytes

Everything about the RG organizers has been terrible this year from the night sessions to the start times with these semis. It should start at 1 or 1:40 paris time.
