Well they wouldn't pay them this much if they didn't get a return on investment but yeah all those whining about too long of a season, tough schedule etc. does seem somewhat laughable given the money they get for playing a game.

ffs... i would give my left nut to have the chance to play tennis all day and make 1\4 of what Novak makes (and i was lucky enough to get higher eucation and i do make a good living by my country standards).

Of course, and the guys paying them huge sums make tons of money off their backs as well. I remember lots of people moaning when Beckam went to Real Madrid for a huge sum of money but the club got the money back within a year or so just by selling overpriced Beckam football shirts.

The guys that can afford to pay the big 4 huge sums of money do so only because they get those figures back times x(at least in most cases).

Sure, we can talk about the ethics of a sportsman(that does nothing but entertain you) making a gazillion times more than scientists that try to cure cancer but then again, I doubt that there was a time in recent history when scientists had more perks than famous sportsmen.

Stars get paid a lot, whether they deserve it or not is a matter of opinion. Tennis is not only sport but an entertainment business. A couple of years ago a pseudo singer called Mariah Carey was paid 100 million by Sony just to get rid of her. Whitney was rumored to get 10 million to sing for 45 minutes etc. Those are insane amounts. Fed and Nadal gets the big bucks for exhibition matches...


Political analysts, social workers,engineers, scientists, doctors etc are underpaid but hey, at least we have diplomas
