Pre Workout

Wanted to get some opinions on your pre workout cycles. I'm coming to the bottom of my N.O. Xplode so I will be switching to something else.

I know the container says you should cycle off after finishing the container. What do you guys think? Should I just switch to a different pre workout or get off of it completely for a few weeks?

My current plan is to give C4 a try next, but I was curious as to what everyone's experiences have been.

I've personally never cycled off preworkouts but I don't recommend that. Take a 2-4 week break then start. As for the preworkouts I've tried, listing them from best to worst

I must be the only one who doesn't like Jack3d. I had to stay off of caffeine for a while so I took REPS from supplementdirect... My least favorite, but it kept me in the gym.

I've tried SuperPump 350 and NOS Blast and both made me nauseus so I didn't care for that.

Didn't feel anything from Jack3d other than some private concerns I can't discuss on here. ha.

Hemo rage black ultra concentrate was by far the best during workout, but was followed by the most intense crash. Guess I'll just have to see what mood I'm in once I finish my NO Xplode...

I don't use a pre-workout drink right now because I'm trying to stay away from creatine because of all the creatinine in my system. When I did take pre-workout drinks, these were the ones I tried:

Jack 3D - Gave me such a bad headache and buzz I never tried it again.

N.O. Explode - Also gave me a headache and buzz, but I eventually got used to it. I noticed that even though I felt energized, I couldn't lift as much weight as I did with just creatine and a fruit drink, so I stopped using it. Don't ever take this stuff after 4 pm. You'll never get to sleep.

SuperPump 250 - No headaches, felt energized, and I could lift as much as I could with creatine and juice. It might even have helped my endurance, but I'm not sure.

SuperPump Max - Similar to SuperPump 250. More expensive and doesn't have Arginine, so I went back to SuperPump 250.

Assault - Felt similar to SuperPump 250, but has more ingredients in a scoop, which makes me feel better about taking it. This is my favorite.

1MR - Felt pretty good. Just skeptical that such a small amount can actually do much. Assault seems to be a better deal and feels better too.

C4 - Tried a few free samples of this. Similar to Assault. I'd probably use some of this along with Assault if I wasn't concerned about my Creatinine levels.
 
I'm with the sceptics...if you have to ingest what seems like the contents of a whole chemical lab just to squeeze out one more rep, you have to wonder what's the point.

You could probably get similar training effects from watching pr0n, without turning yourself into a chemical experiment.

(and the names seem designed to appeal to meatheads, so that's a turnoff...)

You could probably get similar training effects from watching pr0n, without turning yourself into a chemical experiment.

(and the names seem designed to appeal to meatheads, so that's a turnoff...)

Creatinine is not inherently bad. It can MEAN something very bad if the levels are high and no exogenous creatine is being ingested.

If you do enough research on the topic, you'll see that there are some real benefits to certain of those ingredients. My skepticism is usually about the effectiveness of some of those products given the small amounts in a serving. For example, recent research says you need somewhere between 3-6 grams of Beta Alanine per day to effectively boost carnosine levels.

Assault has 4g of beta alanine, 5g of creatine, 1.5g of citrulline malate, and 6g of BCAA all in one scoop, and those are the ingredients that are backed by research to be effective. 1MR and Jack3D have only 5g servings, so it's hard for me to imagine that these are anything more than pretenders who put stimulants in their products to make them seem effective.
