Prime fittest 27 yo thiem vs (almost) 40 yo "barely played 15 months" roger

Federer at 40 is fitter than most athletes on earth, period. However he will still tire quicker than Thiem would as Hes mich younger and will take longer to recover. Thiem is basically made of rubber and magic and will easily bounce back and outlast Roger in a marathon match if it was an endurance battle

I'm not taking about matchup here, gentleman.
But the 40yo on crutches is outperforming so called fittest player on tour at a BO5 tournament.

Nadal is from a different planet mainly on clay. Off-clay he needs huge help from the draw to be considered from another planet.

If Federer was playing Andujar this would’ve been a very different outcome, lets be honest. Also Thiem is clearly not the fittest person on tour at the moment considering how much weight he has lost.

Goes out in R1 after going 2 sets to love up.

Vs

Makes R16 after 1-1 in sets and almost a double break down in set 3.

So much for thiem being the fittest guy on tour, ladies and gentlemen??

Thiem’s fitter for sure, but Federer has 100x times the heart, the heart of the greatest champion. You saw that in the fight against the German today.

So much for being the fittest guy???? He used to play week in and week out without one day rest . The guy used to play early round 5 setters out of habit. He could rip every single ball for 5 hours

Way to kick a man when he is down.

Pathetic pathetic from OP.

Has beaten the GOATs and maintains close h2h, Wow must be overrated then.
Got owned by geriatric Nadal in both RG finals and couldn’t beat a really mediocre Novak in that AO final. He’s lucky that it was Zverev on the other side of the net that day

It's all mental with Thiem, whatever he is going through. It has nothing to do with his actual physical fitness. He is arguably the fittest guy on the tour.

Remember in the 2018 USO match vs Nadal. Nad was running on fumes by the 5th set, but Thiem was still moving and hitting the ball as well as he did in the first set.

Give him some time, he will be back to playing his top tennis again in a few months.

Arguably fittest guy was so tired after one quick five setter om a lively court that a washed up Dimitrov bagelled him.
Whereas the ancient roger, being injured, scrapped through two five settters on a dead court and had nole on the ropes at AO before body gave up.

Thiem is basically another cilic with more consistency but less peak, gentleman.

Apologies to have hurt your feelings, my friend. Though I don't understand, why a nole fan should get offended upon Thiem's criticism??

And for the highlighted part, no. I've always been critical of theim because of the lack of strategy and belief in big finals regardless of opponent. If not for roger and sascha messing up with their chances, thiem would be 0-10 in big finals.

Keep guessing whose fan I am. This thread is in utterly bad taste.

Like judging Nadal FH only from 2015 or Novak's fitness from early 2017.

I usually say that Thiem's USO is enough, but I hope he wins another one at point.

Gonna start bookmarking posts to bump then.

I'm very disappointed in Thiem, been following him since 2014/15 and I was really happy when he was having success. I hope he'll be back in 2022 though I won't lie that I'm not overly optimistic

You're mistaking fitness with champion's heart. One dude is gonna play until his body gives up basically, the other one is content and lacking motivation after winning one big title.
