Am I the only one interested in trying out the phantom 107G? A lighter weight graphite 107. I can’t wait to try it. Wonder when the demo will be available?
Bumblebee?i am so interested i couldn't wait for the demo. mine arrived today and i will string it and play with it tomorrow. i cried when they discontinued the Radical OS. i used it for 18 years.
i have no idea what you are saying.Bumblebee?
U Cannot B Serious!i have no idea what you are saying.
i started with the black and yellow and played with every iteration. the reissue agassi was terrible for me b/c i used to put 26 grams of lead between 11 and 1. the agassi model was too heavy stock to do that so i couldn't get it balanced like i prefer. shocking i had shoulder surgery when i was 48yo.Bumblebee?
sorry. i thought you thought i was someone else. it's late.U Cannot B Serious!

Nah, never realized the Radical OS has come to the end of the road. Guess Prince may pick up the slacksorry. i thought you thought i was someone else. it's late.

preach! But dang I was happy to see a crossbar again...
It is perhaps a misery of abundance that TW is currently marketing a bunch of good Prince racquets with a background black cosmetic, and many do look alike. On the 107g, the “subtle-on-black” cosmetic is consistent with that found in the Phantom series. The subtle Banchee grey-cloak lettering on the 107g is OK, but a bit of Star Wars Phantom Menace Red would have been nice or even Creature from the Black Lagoon green?Prince certainly have a lot of racquets at the moment, however many students have said that they would like some more visual impact with the cosmetics. Lot of their racquets look the same.

The (overly) high launch angle noted by in the TW video was not observed. The launch angle was similar to that which I get from my PP100Ps and which I am quite happy with.
Isospeed Supreme 2.0/Cream (16 g, 50/45).
If you've not seen it, it's a shame we don't get the cosmetic of the Japanese version which harkens back to the POG.It is perhaps a misery of abundance that TW is currently marketing a bunch of good Prince racquets with a background black cosmetic, and many do look alike. Younger players would undoubtedly like flashier cosmetics and different base colors could help differentiation in the market. However, not being young and having given up on understanding Prince marketing, I happen to like the Phantom line cosmetics—and more so the way the Phantoms play, including the 107g.

Well, the old POGs were not the same from one generation to other. In general, the were getting lighter. I liked the lightest specimens the best.Played with the POG for nearly 25 years. College etc. I have the new one and have hit with it 2-3 times. The new 107g is lighter so it’s not a POG - it’s not right to expect it to have the weight of shot or heaviness of ball you’d expect from a POG. But it’s very sweet. Feels great. Very forgiving. Much easier to use for an over 50 guy. I’ve added a bit of lead now and am tinkering w strings. Off the ground it’s great. Serves are very good but I’m not there yet. If you played with a POG or Comp or whatever the hitting area is gonna be super familiar and you’re gonna like the spin and margin for error. It will need weight and string adjustments to taste. It gets better every time I hit with it. I’m a former college player aging like everyone else. As I age I can’t hit the ball as hard no matter what I play with - unless you hit it right to me - which nobody is willing to do it seems. On balance this performs very well and I plan to spend more time with it. I admit to a prince bias as a long time user, formerly sponsored player, and someone who loves the grip shape. I’ve tried to be sensible in my comments. But dang I was happy to see a crossbar again...
How can TW be so slow at getting the Demo available? Just string one up and ship it out for demos!
I'm really on the fence here. Essentially there is no demo for either the POG or the Phantom 107. I keep reading that the Phantom is the POG in modern form, but then others have opined that its lacking the plowthrough and bulldozer like qualities of the POG, which given the weight difference makes sense. In your opinion, is there a choice that would cause less wear and tear on the shoulder between these two frames?
Well my Phantom 107G is supposed to arrive today. I'll have to get it strung but I expect to play with it on Saturday. Will have a comparison to my POG 107 I've been hitting with the last month as well as to other Phantoms like the 100 and 100 18x20.

Initial observations.
Racquets. For this test, the Phantom 107g was strung with overgrip, dampener and Isospeed Supreme 2.0/Cream (16 g, 50/45). Play weight for 107g was 11.8 oz.,7 pts HL.
Current racquet since 2018 is Phantom Pro 100P (PP100P) with identical overgrip/dampener/strings; 11.6 - 11.7 oz.
Summary. Overall impression was positive, and I adapted essentially seamlessly to the 107g. Racquet hits and feels connected, solid, and comfortable; controlled power on all strokes including serves. Baseline strokes and volleys have good depth and feel.
Observations. Observations made over 2 days wherein only 107g was use, and is based on baseline and volley drills, 4 sets doubles, serve/return/play drills.
From the baseline there was good depth on forehand and backhand wings with generally modestly increased speed compared to PP100P. Good precision from baseline. Topspin good and similar to PP100p. Sharp angle shots connected. Made some defensive baseline shots that would have been rather challenging with the PP100P, a pleasant surprise. Slices good, although PP100P are shaper and lower. The few lobs I hit tended to be somewhat deeper than anticipated. Off-center shots were largely stable particularly toward the top of the hoop, and more so than the PP100P. The (overly) high launch angle noted by in the TW video was not observed. The launch angle was similar to that which I get from my PP100Ps and which I am quite happy with.
Volleys had good depth and control, increased power was available when needed. Enjoyed volleys in part due to good racquet maneuverability and stability.
Serves had apparent increased in speed compared to PP100P and was one of the main things I was hoping for in the 107g. Precision on serves was good and similar to current racquet. Returns had good pace and control on both FH and BH.
Good maneuverability even with rapid reaction volleys or with running defensive baseline shots.
Additional Comments. For me the 107g would be a modest, but worthwhile, improvement over my current Phantom, the PP100P (which I already like). The modest increase in power particularly on the serve, the improved maneuverability and stability make the 107g a nice add, and I will likely migrate to it. In the future, I may play with the string tension although it’s nice were it is. For me, there is no need to add lead to the 107g set up. The weight of the racquet was a bit higher than expected and was noticeable after 3-4 hours.
I've heard this referred to as a more forgiving POG. Would you say that's a fair assessment or are they just completely different racquets that share the same oversize and crossbar?I bought a new Phantom 107 from TW without demoing it at all. Have literally played with a number of versions of POG since my HS/Jr days in the mid 80’s and never found another racket worthwhile of taking its place.
i had it strung with VS gut- never played with natural gut before. I will say it’s a different feel than the POG- the control and maneuverability of this racket is unreal. My volleys were hit with laser precision- serves had better control and power. Ground strokes also had better control HOWEVER- I hit more than a handful of ground strokes that appeared to be deep within the court but somehow sailed just out. My guess is the VS is not giving me the spin I previously had with tour bite but the control and extra power on my serve I get from nat gut is going to be very hard to give up. Have only played two nights with the P107 but I can realistically see this being the racket to take me to the next level. I’ll say it again- the control i get from this racket/ string combo is like nothing I have ever seen. review to be continued
Have not used racquets in the Beast series and, while have use TXT 100 series racquets, never gelled with them and sold them, so I cannot do a side-by-side. As an aside, still enjoying the 107g.Thx for the review . Do u have any experience hitting with the TXT 310 Tour line or Beast 98 ? If so pls provide a comparison

I believe it was strung at 50 lbs and the gauge was 17VS gauge and tension?
Any of you leading up the racquet? SW seems a little low by default.
As mentioned- my only concern was far too many balls that felt good when I hit them landing just a foot or so out but that is an adjustment I can make by adding more spin and/or not aiming so deep.
Towards the end of the match when serving- and your arm is tired, a lighter SW is going to be much easier to keep hitting consistent serves. Just my initial observations so far
