Volkl Classic Synthetic Gut 16 and Pro's Pro Synthetic 16...

Similar snapback, power and durability/tension maintenance?

Nah. I still have a reel of used OGSM 17g that's gonna last me quite a while. My next string job is gonna be OGSM/Velocity.

As a cross, pp.syn.gut will do well
its a clasdic feel, performance SG.. at a great price
just dont use it on mains,, they move as expected..
I ordered some Volkl Classic sgut 16 green at a great price.
Will try it first and then PP Synthetic 16 green. ;)

Either one for the crosses should do well,,
I know pp has 3 basic synthetics,, comfort wise, and great colors
1 syn.gut.power, softest
2 syn.gut, you pictured,, regular comfort
3 syn.gut.X (4,6,7x, I think), thats the ones with the gold wrapp,, crisper of the 3

All are decent cross strings, only 1 liked on mains with poly crosses was the X types
others moved too fast or too powerfull

What tension would you recommend for hybrid with sgut cross in a very low powered frame?

Legend
On a hybrid combo, I typically go higher on the tension range
Example,,
on a 50-60 range
Poly/sg ill recommend 56mains/59cross(I prefer to stay within 5lb diff brtween strings),,
thats where I'd start,, after hitting ill fine toon the tension to the raket and my liking..

Is that just for the reel? TW US shows black, natural, yellow and white for 16g reel, but green available as package/set.

Yeah TWE also have sets... But I wanted a reel... I will find an alternative if Pro's Pro Synthetic 16 green is too bad (I bought a reel)...

I get as a stringer you can get extra stringings with a reel, but cheap sg ... and TW lets you send back sets. You would think green would be a popular color. Maybe it bleeds green in the reel. :p

I Know what your saying, but I prefer reels for ease of storage and less string waist( on a pack, ill throw away usually 4'-9' of string sometimes, too much string waste)

now the downside of reel (everything has a good/bad side),
1 lots of string to use,, and it can last a LONG while if you dont use it often, haaa,
2 cost of reel (sometimes reels are NOT cheaper than sets, but typically they are), and your locked in on all that money, vs buying just a couple packs at a time,,,

I have "commitment issues".

Right now, sets work out fine. I just bought 10 sets of Velocity from TW $5 ea ... so any waste with fb v or v crosses is cheap. If I play a more expensive main, a set used for two stringings of mains isn't much waste. To me, if you played an expensive cross long term, a reel would be a no-brainer. Also, if playing an expensive fb and you were in for 17+ stringings, sure. Otherwise, the TW policy of taking strings back is a nice insurance policy for those playing the field.

I have friends that have bought a reel (or half reel) and just give it to the stringer each stringing. Turns out most tennis players never change strings like those of us on ttw.

I'm following this is your testing the volkl 16ga syn gut as my son is getting a babolat pure strike 100 for Christmas and wanted orange strings to compliment the racquet. so, since not wanting to stress the 14yr old tendons I didn't want to go poly I went volkl syn gut 16ga orange @56lbs due to the string specs. the string looks good on TW string tester as far as stiffness and spin potential although I can't find many post about it. guess we will see. I really wanted a multi, velocity or prince premier control, but alas no orange.

any thoughts on volkl syn gut 16ga as far as spin potential in a fb? when I compared it to some of my fav multis it compared favorably on TW string compare. just wondering what real world experience was as I got TW to string my sons Christmas present Babolat pure strike 100 in orange volkl 16ga syn gut.
thanks,
Big Ed
