Rafa fans, do you actually not want Novak to play USO

I’ve seen a lot of assumptions that Rafa fans don’t want Novak at the USO to increase Rafa chances/not tie the slam race. I for one want Novak to participate and don’t really think it affects Rafa’s chances that much. Although I at the same time think that it wouldn’t diminish Rafa winning the USO if Novak was there. So what’s your take?

For common sense and logic, Novak Djokovic should be able to play.

Joker in Flushing Meadows is not the same as his versions in Melbourne and at the All England Club: almost unbeatable, at least for the moment.
The Serb in NY is still a great player, after all he is the tennis player with the most finals there in the Open Era, but he does not have or feel the same confidence as in those two places.
He usually goes from more to less, the rivals there are not afraid of him as in his favorite places, and in the final, Djokovic's level is nothing to write home about, he is beatable and vulnerable.
I would like him to be able to play to see him defeated again at the US Open one more time but if he doesn't play, at the same time, the sport is, has been and always will be much bigger than a family name.

If they meet, it'll be 90%-10% Djokovic. Nadal has to hope Zverev or Medvedev stops Djokovic in the quarterfinal or semifinal and then crumbles in the final against him. It'd be his only hope.

A 100% fit Nadal couldn't even beat the ghostly version of Djokovic in 2018. The same guy who couldn't even beat Cilic in Queen's.

To be fair if Rafa was to choose a location to play Novak off clay it would probably be the us open. He does have a strong record there with 4 titles and a 2-1 bud open H2H over Djoko. He has performed better here. As a Novak fan being honest I don’t think Novak being there or not impacts Nadal as much compared to Australia or Wimbledon.

It still better for Rafa or Novak vice-versa if one misses but not as much at this slam. I hope both are there though to make it more epic but novaks chances to play aren’t looking great. I feel Rafa will be fine from his injury and for tennis we need all the top guys fit and playing.

I actually don't care whether Novak plays USO or not. All I care about is that Rafa is fit and at his best at the USO.

HC field is strong and there are lot of threats for both Rafa and Novak. It is not like RG or Wimb where the biggest threat for both of them are each other.

Though I am getting annoyed with all the noise from Nolefam in social media saying US is stopping Novak from playing US open. It is Novak's choice to not get vaccinated and if it results in some consequences then it is his to bear. Just accept it and stop whining.

True point. Which is why I want Novak to get back into Australia more out the 2 slams. Us open has always been a tougher slam for him to win. Novak doesn’t have the same aura like he has at Australia or now that he has at wimbledon.

I just wish he could there for the competition and a chance at a 4th title but for better slam chances it’s more important for Novak to be at Australian open than us open

djokovic was 4 years younger and playing top flight tennis in 2018 and nadal wasn't and still the match was decided deep in the fifth aided with roof for novak....2022 is a different story as seen at roland garros what happened when fit novak faced foot numbed rafa, imagine what fit rafa would do to him.....
