As it stands:
Code:
          M S G
1. FAA 1-1 2-2 22-20
2. Fritz 1-0 2-0 13-7
3. Ruud 1-0 2-0 13-10
4. Nadal 0-2 0-4 14-25

but with the scores:
Fritz vs Ruud 6-4 6-3
Nadal vs Ruud 6-3 6-1
Fritz vs FAA 6-2 6-4

it will look as follows:
Code:
          M S G
1. Fritz 3-0 6-0 37-20
2. Nadal 1-2 2-4 26-29
3. FAA 1-2 2-4 28-32
4. Ruud 1-2 2-4 24-34

Nadal qualifies, wins the SF, wins the final.
Takes the trophy, gains 1100 points (200 + 900) to become a new World Number One.

He just lost two matches, both in straight sets and still has chances to exit the group?! What kind of sorcerery is that?! LOL

Yeah the WTF's rules are confusing and pretty stupid. I remember one year Murray wen't 2-1 at the WTF RR group but so did Federer and Del Potro and he got eliminated because Del Potro won his final match in 3 sets instead of straights. Meanwhile here Nadal can still go through only winning 1 and losing the other two in straights. It's a joke lol

So for example if Nadal drops more than 4 games to Ruud, Fritz will have to beat FAA for the loss of a maximum of 5 games, plus Fritz has to beat Ruud in straights. Yeah, not happening.

Indoordal will be happy if he steals a set from the "scary" Ruud if we are completely honest.

Sorry, not any longer.

Nadal is Finnish in Italy as Ruud has just won a set against Fritz.

If someone withdraws, don't they replace him with an alternate?
Yes, but the first tiebreaker, even before head-to-head, is number of matches played. So if Nadal has a 1-2 record, he'd advance to the semis over an alternate with a 1-0 record. Still needs to win his final match here, though, even in this highly improbably scenario.

Technically he can still qualify for SFs, but it would involve one or several players from his group withdrawing.
At this moment Ruud is out of range (2 wins).
Nadal has a losing H2H against Fritz and a losing H2H against FAA.

If I understand the rules correctly there's only one scenario for Nadal to advance: he must win on Thursday and both Fritz and FAA must withdraw.
Then the Green group standings would look like this (6 players in total!):
1. Ruud 2-1
2. Nadal 1-2

3. Fritz 1-1
4. FAA 1-1
5. (Rune vs Hurkacz winner) 1-0
6. (Rune vs Hurkacz loser) 0-1

Nadal would play in the semi against a winner of the Red group.

Correct. It would take both Fritz and Felix withdrawing. Wildly unlikely.

Pure fantasy, right up there with Putin winning Nobel Peace Prize. It looks like geriatric billionaire Nadal is obliged to play a meaningless match just to get the 80 large for not dropping out before his third and final RR struggle.
