Roddick vs. Gonzalez round robin match

Gonzo playing like his usual self today. Brain dead strategy and ill advised dropshots. He's making Roddick look like a genius today.

I just wish Gonzo would be more consistent, I hate guys who have one good match and take out a big name then play crap the next match.
Thats why they don't get to be #1. Its truly amazing dedication and consistency for a player to stay on top. Right?

Well that certainly put Gonzo in his place, now all Federer has to do is beat Roddick and he's in the semi's.

Does Gozalez have any chance to qualify if Federer beats Roddick?

Roddick is 4-1 in sets, Federer is 3-2, and Gonzo is 2-3, if Federer defeats Roddick in straights then Gonzo will have to beat Davy in straights because Roddick and Gonzo will be at 4-3 each, and then it will be down to games won and lost, which after this is looking more like Roddick.

If Federer beats Roddick in 3 then Gonzalez is out.

So basically Federer has to win, and Roddick has to win a set.

Are you sure? :-D

I wonder why the hell Gonzo didn't play like this against Federer?

It could be just that he's still in shock at beating Federer. The same thing happened to Murray in Cincy when he beat Federer. He then went on to lose to Roddick, because what he'd done in his last match was still sinking in.
Nalbandian obviously doesn't have these problems.

I wonder if Federer is still in shock at actually being beaten from such a strong position.

I'm sure there must be some way that Gonzalez could go through, like if he beat Davydenko 6-0,6-0 and Roddick was beaten 6-0,6-0 or something like that.

I think the tiebreaker comes down to sets and then head to head if there is a 3 way tie. which would happen if Gonzo beat Davy and Fed beat Roddick.

Even if roddick gets beat in 3 sets Roddick would have the advantage of the head 2 head. Gonzo I believe might be able to beat Fed out for the semi final spot right? Im always confusing tiebreaker rules from usta and atp all the time though

If Federer wins then he will have the advantage in sets, regardless of the scores and what happens with Gonzalez and Davydenko.

That's true because he beat Davy in straights and won a set against Gonzo, but Gonzo lost a set against Federer and went down in straights against Roddick.

In fact if Federer wins in straights then he'll go through 1st.

These are the most interesting RR results at the TMC in years. Roddick vs. Fed will be so exciting!

Roddick is already qualified, ESPN comentators said that, wether Fed beats him in straight or three sets he will be in semis.

That's true but it's whether he finishes first or second that's the question. If he takes a set off Federer they'll both be at 5-3 and it'll be down to games won and lost, if he doesn't Federer is first and he'll be second.

Or Roddick plays to win so hopefully Fed will get knocked out and Andy won't have to see Federer later. :)

Yes because the 14-1 h2h that Federer has over him means that's a likely outcome.

I'm sure andy is thinking about it though. If Fed was 2-0 I'm sure he wouldn't put too much into this match since he's guranteed to be in the semis but since this is a chance to knock him out in the future there is more at stake here.

Of course I'm sure Andy will take a win over Roger anytime he can. Anything is possible although unlikely but it's more likely in a best out of 3 especially with Federer losing a bit more lately. He's just a tad less invinceable. HOpefully and I've said this many times before this time it will be different for Andy.

This match pretty much highlights how poorly Federer is playing these days to lose to Gonzalez. Gonzalez is not that strong, losing his serve so often to even Andy Roddick and losing that easily pretty much proves that. Federer losing to Gonzalez just shows how weak he has gotten.

You didn't watch the match against Federer or you wouldn't post such ********. Or you're just as troll. Either way, stupid post.
