The seedings won't matter in the end. Last couple of weeks, Federer dropped sets to Raonic, Berdych, FERRER, so no way is he in the form required to make a run at Roland Garros. He will lose points, probably a QF exit.
But Nadal and Djokovic are so special that they both get more than finalists points even though they have done no better than make the final?
Doesn't matter what they potentially could earn - they haven't earned it. there is no fair way to do it but rewarding both Nadal and Djokovic as if they won the event is not close to fair.
What if none of the semis were played, would all semi finalists get winners points?
Of course fed isn't the only player it effects but he is the only one whose ranking position is effected.
If they cancel the match, don't award any points or prize money for a match that wasn't played. simple.
As I posted elsewhere, the Roland Garros site is showing Federer as the No 2 seed and the ATP rankings for this week have been updated, so the result in Rome is immaterial.
Are you a psychic too now? Just worry about your hero Nadal would you. Your predictions about all of the last 8 Djokovic/Nadal matches (aside from the MC anomaly) where you said Nadal would win easily and Djokovic would have no chance have been wrong.
I haven't made any predictions about Djokovic/Nadal last year, go and check my history and get into reality.

Sure Bulszilla or whatever your 10 other alias names are. You are not fooling anybody on here.
Anyone remember when Ferrer took a set from Roger in the past few weeks? Anyone?
You are in a fantasy land, good luck with that. From what I can tell, Bulszlla is Clarky21.
Why are you so condescending?? no wonder so many folks dislike you around here. Its one thing to support your fav player another to bash everyone else. Calm down son
I didn't argue that both should get the winner's points, so either direct your argument at someone else or fine tune it.
But yes, in Rome, Djokovic and Nadal are special, because they reached the final and could potentially gain more points - they shouldn't be effectively penalised for circumstances out of their control. That goes for every final, by the way, not just today's situation.
As for your implausible musing on a semis cancellation, here's another of equal relevance: What if tennis was canceled does that mean djokovic #1 4eva???
The worst solution to an issue like this.
"BREAKING: Roland Garros crowns Djokovic winner in Rome!"
Anyone remember when Ferrer took a set from Roger in the past few weeks? Anyone?
Is NSK in his own fantasy?
Look who's bashing who now. If you have a problem with me then do the SMART thing and put me on your ignore list, as I am about to do to you in 5 seconds. BYE, kid.
he must be thinking of Nadal almost losing both sets of the barcalona final against him.
Anyway let's not be too hard on nadal slam king, it's obvious he has some issues, maybe depression or mental illness and needs help.
Speaking of issues, you continue to post like a psychotic, obsessed with me. How does it feel to be owned by an unknown person online?

LOL look at you talking to yourself

I've hardly ever mentioned you except when responding to you directly, and you know, responding to people is what a forum is for. Perhaps you have some sort of false sense of importance syndrome.
How does it feel to have your life ruled by a spanish man who plays tennis and has nothing to do with your life? The sooner you stop with this bleak little game the better for you.

Please ignore Bullzilla. We all backslide once in a while and respond to him,but it is always a waste of time.
Ah, I don't think I can give it the proper consideration it deserves, but out of the options presented, I agree with jm1980's 800 point each solution.I apologise, what was your solution, give them both 800 points? I don't see the sense in giving them points for a match they didn't win unless you just give them the same points they got last year so no-one LOSES anything, and no one gains anything relative to Rome 2011.
Nadal and Djokovic may have made the final but they didn't win the title, so finalist points is probably the best solution. It's unfourtunate but maybe they can have a one match play off for 400 points later in the season
anyway hopefully it gets played.

By this "logic", how do you explain the RG'11 run to the finals? After all, he lost MATCHES, not sets to Melzer and Gasquet, neither of them as highly ranked as Berdych. Explain this, o seer of the future!
So you are obsessed with my posts, because you keep replying to every one of my posts. It is flattering that my tennis opinion means so much to you.

Melzer and Gasquet are chokers at the slams. Whereas if Federer ran into Berdych at Roland Garros, you know Berdych is ok with beating Federer, as he did at Wimbledon. And Raonic, while inexperienced, will only get better at slams.
Get off your high horses. Federer fans make worse predictions against Rafa.
Nobody does it like Clarky who is a closeted Fed fan, DFTW etc.
And you don't say anything against it. NSK should even it out.

No one noticed your absence, Clarky and NSK have kept us so inundated and entertained This is TW's peak year.
NSK's peaks coincide with Nadal's. If Noel starts dishing them out, NSK will un-peak. That is why the Rome final is so crucial -- it determines whether NSK will keep poasting or not.
NSK, if Noel wins Rome final:
Wait so...if Federer loses to some chokers it means he is in good enough form to make a grand slam final, but if he loses sets to others, some of whom have actually MADE a grand slam final before, it means he's in too bad of form?
Might as well tell everybody you found a square circle.
