Rome entry list has federer name being crossed out but similarly madrid list had federer name in it, does it suggest federer is playing clay but intends to only play Madrid and Rg(assuming)

Federer not on an entry list is no new thing. I suppose it was expected he would be in Rome. I think expectations and let downs is the swing Federer fans must be prepared to ride.

I loved the reaction the Rome crowd gave him in 2019 but the tournament really tried to screw him by scheduling two matches in one day.
Let's not pretend Federer is playing to win titles right now. Every tour match in the coming months is part of his recovery/rehabilitation plan
Nonsense. That day, multiple players had 2 matches scheduled due to rain.
Perhaps Sampras should come back and play against Fedr in R1 at some tournament? Perhaps Fedr would have a chance to win against him when he cannot win against almost any player now? Perhaps it would have been prudent to have retired before the surgery? But perhaps Rolex is still paying well?

Forget about all those losses to nadal after match point or muggery against mantilla, even 2014-15 fedberg could win those 2.
He can blame himself for not capitalising on his biggest piegon in 2014 MC final after a set & break up in set2.
And also for not coming out with all guns blazing against nole in 2015 Rome final, especially given that nole was struggling against & dropping sets to every tom, dick and harry that week, whereas roger himself was in a great shape. Yet laid an egg in the final, 4-6 3-6.

If he's playing Geneva, he will also play RG. It doesn't make sense to play one small clay tournament if he's not going to play a Slam on clay as well.
