Scary Wimby draw

So I was going through the ATP news and decided to read few comments.

There this apparently quite Knowledgeable guy Djokovic Federer Murray Nadal (username)..mentioned something

Here is the comment - "Cilic will be the #3 seed at Wimby now. 5060 ranking points + 1700 grass points from previous 12 months + 75% of best grass result from 13-24 months ago (360points from Wimby '16 QF) = 7030. Zverev will be bumped to #4 with about 6400-6500.

The real loser is del Potro who moves from #4 to #5 and now doesn't get his own quarter of the draw to himself."

Looks like guy knows his stuff, I knew that Wimbledon seeding formula was different but is this the exact seeding formula like the guy told?

If yes, then now I am afraid Delpotro is going to get drawn in Fed's quarter because of the last line he said.

https://www.atpworldtour.com/en/news/djokovic-cilic-queens-club-2018-final

So who will be the unlucky guy
Obviously I don't want Federer to get drawn with Delpotro since he plays his best against him.
Djoker is also flying around the corner, imagine if both Nole and Delpotro are in same quarter , this Wimby may b fun for me or turn ugly. I know one thing for Sure...Rafa won't b getting these two in his half:p
I wish Zverev gets drawn with these two in his quarter...Would love to see his face :D

Edit - I was not talking about any top seed facing Nole or Delpotro in opening match ( lol idk how people got that idea ) , just mentioned Delpotro would be drawn in one of the unlucky top seed Quarter and hence potential QF opponent..and if Same seed gets drawn with Nole in his quarter too, then we got Nole as his potential R16 opponent..seems disaster to me.

time for draw speculation as official rankings and results come Monday will be in the Wimbledon draw formula ( http://www.openerarankings.com/Home?Race=3 ):
1 Roger Federer 11810.0
2 Rafael Nadal 8950.0
3 Marin Cilic 6630.0
4 Alexander Zverev 6160.0
5 Juan Martin Del Potro 5192.5
6 Grigor Dimitrov 5140.0
7 Dominic Thiem 4093.8
8 Kevin Anderson 3868.8
9 John Isner 3477.5
10 David Goffin 3245.0
11 Sam Querrey 3210.0
12 Novak Djokovic 2942.5
13 Tomas Berdych 2930.0 OUT
14 Milos Raonic 2885.0
15 Roberto Bautista Agut 2547.5
16 Diego Schwartzman 2452.5
17 Nick Kyrgios 2270.0
18 Lucas Pouille 2240.0
19 Jack Sock 2222.5
Andy Murray 2220.0
20 Fabio Fognini 2153.8
21 Pablo Carreno Busta 2152.5
22 Kyle Edmund 2047.5
23 Adrian Mannarino 2033.8
24 Richard Gasquet 1950.0
25 Borna Coric 1862.5 UP to 17
26 Kei Nishikori 1800.0
27 Hyeon Chung 1685.0
28 Philipp Kohlschreiber 1663.8
29 Denis Shapovalov 1601.8
30 Damir Dzumhur 1538.8
Yuichi Sugita 1537.5
Jeremy Chardy 1523.8
Gilles Muller 1507.5
31 Filip Krajinovic 1489.0
32 Marco Cecchinato 1463.0
Karen Khachanov 1445.0
Steve Johnson 1432.5
32 Fernando Verdasco 1420.0 IN
Andrey Rublev 1418.5
Murray is a great example above as the formula has him in 20th position, but the top 32 seeds are done by ranking and then reordered by the Wimby formula. The finals for Cilic and Federer tomorrow won't affect their seedings. Coric stands at 25 and will move up to 18 just behind Kyrgios if he beats Federer. This would move Coric from the 25-32 to the 17-24, but also just one withdrawal from the top would do the trick as well. Djokovic stands at 12 already and would move up to 10th seed. Nole would need the win over Cilic in the Queens final plus two top players to drop to move from 9-12 seeding group to the 5-8 range.
Players on the verge of becoming seeded should we have some withdrawals:
34. -2 Rublev A. 1275 -96
35. Tsitsipas S. 1248 +10
36. +2 Mayer L. 1228 +46
37. +3 Ferrer D. 1155

No withdrawals at the top so far and might as well add the following four players alread have wildcards; Duckworth, De Minaur, Elias, McDonald
Seeds are placed with 1 and 2 in opposite have with seeds 3 and 4 randomly placed into the two remaining "semifinal slots". Then seeds 5-8 randomly placed in the four remaining "quarterfinal slots," so that 1-4 play 5-8 in the quarterfinals. 9-12 are randomly picked to face 5-8 in the round of 16 and 13-16 match up with the top 4 seeds, and 17-24 are randomly distributed so that they meet 9-16 in the 3rd round while 25-32 play the top 8 seeds in the 3rd round (Round of 32).

Players with injury issues; Raonic withdrew before his last match at Queens and went back to Canada for treatment. Agut withdrew after 5 games with Coric today in Halle (lost footing when wrong footed by a big Coric forehand of all things.)
Djokovic cannot hit one of the top 4 seeds until the quarterfinals. Raonic and Kyrgios:eek: (with Bendych withdrawal) will draw a 1-4 seed in round of 16. If either Agut or Raonic withdraw, Coric now could get 16th seed. Feliciano Lopez and Andy Murray will be two tough unseeded floaters in the draw. Will Murray's awful draw luck continue?; Kygrios first round of queens and now Wawrinka in Eastbourne. Wawrinka has looked respectable so far in his grass comeback and will be a dangerous floater as well.

You must be kidding. You have Cilic (#3 seed) in Nadal's draw (#2 seed) and still complaining about Del Potro (?). What do you want? Another Halle draw at Wimbledon?
Cilic facing Nadal is guaranteed? .. according to @Meles 3rd and 4th seeds are randomly placed in halves of top 2 seeds.

And no I am not complaining about Delpotro, I m just scared of him. When I read he is #5 seed , I immediately thought he would be placed in top seed quarter ( I was misinformed about it..seems like it is random)

Okk you are more informative than the guy I mentioned...All hail Meles

So after
Coric beating Federer and Cilic beating Nole
Nole is seeded 9-12 right..so he will be still facing any of top 4 seeds in round of 16 and same for Delpotro in QF ( which means they can still be drawn in same quarter with a top4 seed ..though chances are low )
I was not talking about any top4 facing either of them in round1, i was just saying there is a probality that both of them could be drawn in same quarter with one of the top4 seed..and if it happens..it would be scary. Imagine facing..Nole in R16 then Delpotro in QF lol

#1 and #3 have actually ended up in the same half in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 in the last 10 years. Exact even split.

idk why but I can never fully understand Wimby seedings haha. Why cant they just seed players by their current ATP rankings, just like every other slam? Wouldn't that make it easier for everyone involved with the draws/seeding or is this what makes Wimbledon I guess different from the rest?

Huh. It's almost like it's random.

But what have the TT whiners been complaining about when they accuse organizers of rigging the draw?

The fear of Delpo is overblown. There is a high change that he will not even make QF.

I would pick Djokovic, Raonic, Kyrgios over Delpo, Thiem, Anderson.

Give it another decade or less of grass-court tennis getting further marginalised. Soon people will be asking why play on it altogether.
