Seles and the record book

When I think about how here career was going, it's such a shame. I think Monica would have obliterated the record book if she hadn't been stabbed. Think about it....she won eight slams in the span of three seasons and probably would have won 7-8 more in the next three years, the way things were going. I think I'll always consider Navratilova the greatest woman because of her 18 majors, numberous doubles titles and the telling (but underrated) fact that she made the finals in a slam event 16 times that she didn't win. But Seles was poised to make a run at everything.

Damn shame.

If you like Seles, you must purchase her book "From Fear to Victory". I purchased it through www.amazon.co.uk

This is one of the most incredible books I've read. She's a great person.

And a great champion. Despite what happened, there's still not women who have 9 slam titles.

I like anybody that likes Monica. Although I must admit that she was never the same after her attack, I'm not so convinced that I would consider her achievements on a higher level than Steffi's. I know .. I know this comment can create a Thread that will go on for days & weeks.

My personal regards concerning Best Alltime is two fold:

1. Mo Connelly
2. Steffi Graf
3. Martina Navratalova
4. Monica Seles

* If you were to count actual majors in singles.

1. Steffi Graf

3. Monica Seles

* If you were to count title in comparison to competitors

I believe Steffi holds the top spot when you look at her accomplishments in three different generations of Players. When Steffi got her footing at the Pro level, there was no stopping her, not even Martina could beat her anymore.
Martina had the luxury of dominating when women's tennis was more moon balls then anything esle. No pace or power and her biggest opponent was Chris Evertt & Pam Shiver.

Steffi had to deal with a still aggressive Martina but alsoChris, Tracy, Gabby, A. Sanchez, Monica, Z. Garrison, Jennifer, Mary P., Hingis, Davenport & V. Williams and still proved her dominance.

Remember Steffi Graf ? Who holds 22 Grand Slam Singels Titles ...

Yep Monica is the bomb and I love her dearly. Actually, I hated her because she was Steffi's biggest nemesis and when they played it was not a given that Steffi would win. Long Live Monica Seles !!!
