She played pretty well at the AO, for not being in good shape; iff (if and only if) she could get back in shape, she could be dangerous again. She does tend to get hurt often, though

I would love to see her get in shape and come back. She has power and speed, but poor technique. She has enjoyed her celebrity a bit too much, a flaw many athletes are guilty of, obviously she let it go to her head.

If Anna Kournikova hasn't retired from singles for good, I think she should. If she were a size 12 I bet I could get a petition started to make sure she NEVER returns to a sports arena. After all, it is important to be pleasing to the eye, and skilled when you're a female athlete. Now if you're a guy, we will accept ugly, as long as you can get the ball over the net.

ohh man! I stumbled upon this thread today. I love how wrong so many of the previous posters are about Serena. 6 years later and in her 30's - not even the top 1 and 2 player in the world can get more than 3 games out of her.

She would be laughing so hard right now if she read some of the things written here. lol.

Serena Williams has shown she is no longer prepared to put in the proper time and effort training required to compete at a "glam slam" event level.

Her lack of match toughness and general lack of fitness were very evident during the Australian Open.

I believe the time has come for her to put the rackets back in the closetand focus on her design/fashion career.

What do you people think?

The failed thread of all time.

Moving on....

Some forums ban people for resurrecting ancient threads, this forum also bans people with multiple accounts.

Yes because she looks horrible and ugly. Women's tennis needs a good-looking ambassador (Masha) and you can't afford an ambassador for tennis to lose 6-0 6-1 in an Olympics final so you have to get Serena to retire.

I'm not sure if you're referring to me about resurrecting ancient threads, but I checked the forum policies on here and there seems to be no mention of - so I think I'm in the clear.

Additionally, I didn't bump this old thread for the sake of bumping it or flaming or whatever they call it. It is relevant to what Serena has achieved recently. I'm not even a Serena fan and I was doing a non-Serena related research when I found this thread today. But reading what some people have said about her back then was really disconcerting - especially when these people have acquired status as "Legend", "G.O.A.T" or "Hall of Fame" here - even though I know it's just based on their total posts (or I think so).

I guess what I was trying to emphasize is 'accountability'. It doesn't matter how old the thread was. I just find it funny how some opinions were expressed so strongly almost as if they were truth and we look back a few years later and they were completely wrong.

kinda agree ... but Ivanovic is simply stunning ... Maria is not even close in 'the look departmetn', too bad Serena has more male chromosomes than Ballerina aka known as Roger... you can't complete against her if you are a real woman ... maybe a prime Ballerina could beat Serena but not so sure :lol::lol:

I cannot wait for the day they both retire. Tennis as a sport will be so much better when they are gone.

What does Serena's *ss have to do with her talent? I don't understand the fascination of people with it. Its preferable to having n'assatall like most of the stick thin, possible eating disorder hazard, flat as a board, man-ish looking women on tour.

With that said. I agree that if Serena isn't willing to dedicate herself to the sport, then she should retire. She is embarassing herself out there, coming out making huge unforced errors. I realistically believe both Willams have had there run and should retire, and come back playing smarter like Hingis.

LOLOLOL :oops::shock::lol:

Serena is probaby one of the best technique of any current player and is definitely on a short list of best ever for the WTA.

These comments are too funny.

Yeah.....right. The "audience" that abandons the sport in large numbers- I'm just fine with that.

hmm..just what "audience" you think it is the WS attract aside from tennis fans?

Please dont hold back and elaborate what you think is the WS "audience"

He will not answer, because everyone knows the sick reason behind his post. Of course, in his disgusting world view, a sport losing its largest audience (essentially killing it) is fine, just as long as he does not see certain people playing.

Don't be surprised if he returns with nonsense about the fairy tale "purity" of the players/game, a preference for "golden" players, or refers to his targets as criminals/thugs, etc. All the keywords of a certain group on this board.
