Wawrinka, of course, tallies Murray in Slams but not in any other respect. When the rest of the field attains the #1 ranking (or even the #2 ranking) and win at least half of the titles that Murray has won then, and only then, can you say thay are in any way close to Murray. Otherwise it's just absolute nonsense to try and claim otherwise.
Stan could pop in and win like 2-3 more slams and still not be close to Murray’s career

As long as Federer is alive and kicking and still in the slam race, it is not wise to write off the big three. Sure Nadal and Djokovic are the top two guys, but back in 2015 Nadal was absent from the top, people still called it the big three, Djokovic was absent from 2017, people still called it the big three. This is a three way slam race, you cannot have a three way slam race without three contenders....so no, we shouldn't. Haters can, but reality is, Djokovic and Nadal are still seeing Federer as clear and present danger, so it is big three all the way.
I remember many people celebrating the end of Novak and the return of the purity of Fedal in 2017. Calls for Novak to retire were rampant. Now...was it because those people didn’t want to see a Novak comeback rather than thinking he should actually retire for positive reasons? Yes probably, but they still wanted to believe he was finished.

It is likely that Federer will have destiny of Sampras in terms of greatness perception. The world is unforgiving place.
So will Nadal and Djokovic. Some young dude will come along and win a ton and that generation will claim/wonder/revise history/ use statistics dishonestly to prove newer has never been better just like this place does now. Pete is an afterthought here. The big three, two, four, whatever you want to call it will be one day too.

I remember the constant Novak trashing that was taking place here during 2017, it was just reaching absurd levels.

It's hard to argue in Federer favour anymore that he is on the same level as Nadal and Djokovic. The guy is completely irrelevant lately. Yes he can, and he should win another Basel, or Halle, or Istanbul, or maybe even some Masters, but at the very biggest scene he is completely lacking. On top of it, the fact that he'll be absent until June, doesn't help his case either.

So yes, we are safe to use the term Big 2 from now on, as the only logical and appropriate thing to do. ;)

Why in the world do we need a special term for Nadal and Djokovic? It’s one thing with 3 players or 4, there it’s convenient to use a shorthand. But saying Big Two vs Nadal and Djokovic isn’t much more convenient.

Hey man, I resent this remark. This place is a beacon of knowledge and expertise, both of the written and numerical variety. Nobody would EVER be obtuse on here. We are amongst sheer unbridled genius here.
I’ve long maintained that the US Federal Reserve and the White House should be completely replaced with TTW poasters. And definitely by the Creme de la Creme of GPPD

No, I'm not being obtuse. Federer holds the record of most slams not for most slams.

Would you prefer I’d written “most slam titles” - because you knew exactly what I meant.

Stop arguing semantics and accept that removing Federer from the big 3 would be madness.

Federer was one point away from winning Wimbledon last year. It's still the Big 3 until he retires or falls off a cliff.

Federer is still GOAT and holds the records for most slams, most weeks at No 1 and most YECs. To exclude him is madness.

I won't exclude Fed for the time being, but the world knows there will be a changing of the guard soon! I believe "The Big 3" will probably be used as some kind of moniker as long as these 3 play the game since they're inextricably linked; just check the record books! Their names are splashed all over it and at the top of each category!
