Wilander just said so on Eurosport.
Obviously he's biased, but I don't think he's far from the truth...
Not far at all, no matter what level Nadal was playing, Soderling wasn't going to lose that day in my opinion.

just look at how he played in the 1st 2rounds this years tournament. when i saw him play i said to myself no one will beat him this tournament. i saw complete dominance in the first 2 rounds, it was really a high level of tennis

I don't know how this applies to this arguement, but I'll go with it. Are you watching his match with Almagro right now? If you were/are, I wouldn't be posting this statement.
im talking about robin soderling. i think soderling will win the 2010 frenche open . hes that dominant right now
Oh, ok, I'm really sorry, thought you were talking about Nadal (and on some sort of narcotic). My bad.
It was certainly impressive but the best, who knows? I've read about Lew Hoad, who was super strong, hitting outright winners without his opponent touching the ball except on serve for long periods of time. It's certainly up there.
Not so fast. Still Soderling is only a dangerman, not a real winner. There were some really great performances of clay in modern times, like the Nadal final win at RG in 2008, or Kuertens wins over Ferrero. Kuerten was called Picasso by Kafelnikov. Fedrer is a step slower now, than a couple of years ago. You could note that in his USO match with Delpo, now again. Earlier in his career, Federer with a better movement and anticipation, was able to handle the power of a big man and turn it against the aggressor.

was it Kramer who said that Hoad's peak was the highest?

I should specify: he was talking about the Federer match.
*******s would like to believe that someone who defeats Fed is great. Watch how that guy will perform against a fit Nadal and the illusions will fade away.
Stop with the qualifying baloney. Nadal looked fine physically vs Soderling last year and looked fine whipping Hewitt the previous rd. He got wiped, deal with it.
2008 French Open Final, just a absolute beat down.
It was the whole event, not just the final. Nadal was just leagues above the rest in this tourney, it was downright scary,
Best clay performance was Nadal in 2008. Even throughout the tournament he was on a whole new level to anyone else. Federer had to play good tennis to win just 4 games.
Yeah yeah keep believing it.
Fact is Fed was lucky that Nadal was injured last year. I would say that is the singlemost lucky event in his life.

Nadal FO 2008.
Almost like an opponent wasn't there, or it was a practice session.
Soderling's match against Fed was a great performance, but we've seen matches like that time and time again.
because an opponent wasn't there. at least mentally.
it was federer's worst match in history.
on the other hand, against Soderling, he was playing damn good...

Agree. That was his best performance in a long time.

yep, best performance against a serious opponent since AO'10...

Maybe,or maybe illusions that a healthy Nadal crushes Soderling will fade away instead, maybe we'll find out.
you should add Sod to your sig

Are you kidding me? So Nadal beat federer 2 years ago 6-1 6-3 6-0 and Soderling beating federer in 4 tight sets is a better performance? How come?. Oh yes, you would say that federer is playing way better this year, which is untrue. He might be playing a bit better, but the conditions helped Soderling a lot. Don´t get me wrong, Sod played incredibly, but the conditions made his bombing style more effective. It was a serve festival, not the best performance on clay ever. That´s disrespectful towards Kuerten and Nadal
